I like this woman. She is absolutely real.

She is so smart. One of my classiest friends hits Costco for a lot of her family entertaining needs (big family1).

Costco's rotisserie chicken is fabulous and a colossal $4.99 in our area. High quality chicken, beautifully cooked, and cooked fresh every hour or so (they are time-stamped when put in the warmer for sale).

HA! I bet she really knows the store, where what aisle and does the cooking herself.

Bet ya Moochelle hasn't been in a Costco to shop- ever. Target, well.. she closed the store for a photo op, once.

Cooking? It isn't everyone's gift. However, cooking is an act of love for a family.

If this is the best Abby Phillip can do, I recommend she look for another line of work.

I thought, after Michelle Obama was so terribly disrespectful to Oprah, she being "fat" and all, and did not return her phone calls offering to assist, Oprah pulled back. But I guess not. Fortunately, nobody watches Ophrah's network in any case.

It's going to be nice to have likable people back in the Whitehouse.

Moochelle would only shop at Costco if they had 80 oz. tins of Beluga Caviar...and it was free.

When Mooch shops, everything is free - for her - we, the people are paying for it and it makes me sick! Mooch's fave place is the Lobster Trough where she's been known to dispatch 3 troughs, shells and all, before she lets out her first belch. But that's due to stop in Jan. 2013. Watch how much she cuts back on her vacay's when it comes out of her pocket (and watch the biggest one of all time from Nov. 2012 - Jan. 2013).

I would rather spend a day with the Romneys for authentic, down to earth discussions, than a minute with the obamas and their arugula.

The Romney’s are smart shoppers. Pre-cooked rotisserie chicken is a bargain for those who know when to buy it and how to store it. We buy several (at least 4) when we find them on sale for less than $5 each. We remove the meat and vacuum pack it in freezer bags for later use. Then we simmer the remains (bones, skin and remaining bits of meat) with onions, seasonings and vegetable peelings for several hours to make a concentrated soup stock. Strained and sealed in freezer bags, the stock is richer (and cheaper!) than store bought.

Thanks #11. Don't know why I didn't think of that. Their chicken is just like it's come out of the oven. Like the idea of buying a few at a time and freezing as you have suggested.

I like Ann Romney. She's lovely, dresses appropriately and adores Mitt and the whole family. That in itself is something to aspire to. I don't think we're going to see any dreadfully embarrassing fashion faux pas. I don't think we are going to be talked down to any more by a FLOTUS, and I do think we are going to be proud of her when she travels overseas with Mitt on official business.

#11 - thanks for the tip.

One more thing about the rotissere chicken...store it as #11 says - removed from the bone whether you're going to freeze it or refrigerate it for the next day. Leaving it on the bone can make you ill if there are parts of it that didn't get fully cooked.

Ann Romney is for real and I'm looking forward seeing class and elegance along with debonaire at the White House.

I watched this for myself this morning. Once again, as she was on The View last week, Ann Romney was natural, relaxed, and sincere. She did a cooking demo, the Costco segment, a chit-chat over coffee with the hostess, and then some tv audience questions, and some give-and-take with son Tagg, his wife, and kids in the audience.

A couple of posters above point to the snark in this article. How about this one: "Incidentally" – to quote our subtle author -- the head of Costco is an Obozo supporter. Does Ms Phillip think Mrs. Romney would boycott the store if she only knew, poor thing?

Ms Phillip gets a little conspiracy minded when she darkly notes that Mrs. Romney didn't identify the "location" of the Costco where she filmed her segment. Given that the Ray show is taped in New York, I would imagine a Costco in a nearby zip code as the likely place, but then I am not a reporter for ABC. Apparently it is beyond Ms Phillip's powers to get on the phone and ask.

One interesting moment: Rachael Ray asked Mrs. Romney if people notice her at Costco and she answered something like "how can they not notice me when the Secret Service and your camera crew are tagging along?" Interesting answer in light of Moochelle Obama's caper last year where she supposedly visited a supermarket without anyone catching on The Big She was on the premises. Ann Romney's humorous response shows a woman keeping it real, in contrast to the keeping-it-fake-always Moochelle.

Just found the recipe! Meatloaf Cakes
Adapted from Ann Romney

Time: 45 minutes

FOR THE MEATLOAF CAKES:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
4 slices bread, crumbled into small pieces, or 3/4 cup dried bread crumbs
1 large egg
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 teaspoons seasoned salt
FOR THE SAUCE:
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice.
1. For the meatloaf cakes: Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled bread or bread crumbs, egg, onion, lemon juice and seasoned salt. Mix lightly but thoroughly and shape into six small loaves. Space evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes; meanwhile, prepare the sauce.

2. For the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, cloves and allspice. When the meatloaf cakes have baked for 15 minutes, brush each loaf with sauce and return to the oven. Continue to bake until the meatloaf cakes are 165 degrees in the center when tested with an instant-read thermometer, about 20 more minutes. If desired, serve with scalloped potatoes and steamed vegetables. Pass additional sauce separately.

Yield: 6 small meatloaf cakes (3 to 6 servings)
