A California golf course worker said a 2-pound shark discovered still living in the grass near the 12th hole was the most "bizarre" thing seen at the course. Melissa McCormack, director of club operations at the San Juan Hills Golf Club in San Juan Capistrano, said the small shark was found in the grass with puncture wounds indicating it had been carried by a bird, The Orange County (Calif.) Register reported Wednesday.

[The interesting part of the article is that the CA Fish and Wildlife person doubts this happened ... maybe he stays in his office all day, but we've got some large, talented and hungry pelicans here in OC... They are beautiful to watch getting their dinner and 2# is not that much.]

#3, people lose small dogs to raptors (eagles, ospreys, large hawks, etc). Most wild animals are a lot stronger than they look. It's people who are weak.

I saw an Osprey at Dana Point Fishing wharf about 2 weeks ago.If any one has seen these birds up close they are big. Big enough to carry a 2 pound fish.They are as big as a bald eagle,maybe bigger.I saw an eagle when I was fishing at Catalina swoop in on a seagull and carry it to the beach and chow down on it.

We had an osprey pair pretty much clean out our large lake in FL of ducks, moor hens, fish and coots. Very sad, as we so enjoyed walks around the lake and watching the nesting over the years. In less than one year, our wildlife sanctuary became virtually silent. Hopefully, now that there is nothing left to eat, they'll move on and nest the next brood somewhere else.

Colorado Rep. Diana DeGette, the lead Democratic sponsor of a federal bill to ban high-capacity magazines, is apparently unaware that such magazines can be reloaded and reused, according to a comment she made at a Denver Post-sponsored forum on gun control on Tuesday. When asked how limiting the number of bullets in magazines would help reduce violence, she replied: (snip) "So if you ban them in the future, the number of these high-capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time, because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”

An intruder who forced his way into the mountain home of a Colorado deputy district attorney was shot dead by either the prosecutor or her police officer husband, authorities said on Tuesday. The shooting, shortly before midnight Monday, comes two weeks after Colorado´s prisons director was slain as he answered the front door to his home, and two days after the district attorney of Kaufman County in Texas was found shot to death with his wife. Any adult who takes a school matter into his or her own hands – like a mother who allegedly entered Withrow High School without permission Thursday and helped her daughter beat up another girl – will be held accountable, Cincinnati Police Chief James Craig said Monday. Police say the mother, her daughter and another woman burst into a classroom at the school on Madison Road about 2 p.m. Thursday. The mother and daughter, according to police, assaulted a 15-year-old girl, striking her with fists, feet and a combination lock. Teacher Kim Kilby suffered a black eye in the scuffle.

At the moment it is a faint object, visible only in sophisticated telescopes as a point of light moving slowly against the background stars. The teenage actor who plays the half in the hit CBS comedy "Two and a Half Men" says in a video posted online by a Christian church that the show is "filth" and that viewers shouldn´t watch it. Nineteen-year-old Angus T. Jones has been on the show, which used to feature bad-boy actor Charlie Sheen and remains heavy with sexual innuendo, since he was 10 but says he doesn´t want to be on it anymore. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. A new CNN/ORC International poll found President Obama´s overall approval rating has ticked up to 51 percent but ratings have fallen on his handling of the key issues on his agenda: immigration, guns, and the deficit. In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.
