Colin Powell endorses
Obama for second term

Reuters, by Susan Heavey

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell on Thursday endorsed Barack Obama in his bid for re-election, citing the Democratic president's efforts to wind down the war in Afghanistan and tackling terrorism. "And so I think we ought to keep on the track that we are on," the Republican, who also backed Obama in 2008, told "CBS This Morning." The move comes just days after Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney clashed over foreign policy in the third and last presidential debate ahead of the November 6 election.

Powell supports 4 more years of 9% unemployment, 16 trillion in national debt, 23000000 people out of work, zero job creation, 1 in 6 in poverty , mid east on the verge of flames 11900 pages of new regulations and 4.00 gas. Great call Colon, bros sticking together.

Just remember, ABBA is his idea of good music, too. Something about military life left his other faculties for discernment underdeveloped.

My guess is that Powell wanted some sort of position in a Romney cabinet, (this explained the weather balloons) got turned down, and got payback by saying he would endorse Obama again, despite not being able to stand the guy.

Move on, this guy is not worth listening to on anything at all.

Here's a heads up for those who may have forgotten about the role his wife plays in ALL his decisions. Colin Powell surrendered his masculinity a long time ago when his nasty left winger wife, Alma, lowered the boom. In that she's to the left of Karl Marx and could never stand his relationship regardless of how distant to the GOP, she finally had enough and HE got his marching orders. He'd like to command respect and always sneaks into the public under some guise and this time he likes the fact that the liar ended the war. C'mon Colon (spelling deliberate) why don't you just tell the truth and admit that Alma is carrying your masculinity in her Hermes purse.

President Obama kicked off the week in Connecticut with a rallying cry for new gun control measures hand-in-hand with Sandy Hook parents. This afternoon, Obama sat down in the Oval Office with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel — who, with a military, civilian, and contractor work force on edge about their jobs, is tasked with unveiling what could be a punishing presidential budget for the Pentagon tomorrow. Over at the Senate tonight, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed cloture on the motion to proceed to the gun-control package, which means

President Obama will unveil his 2014 spending plan Wednesday, 65 days late and several trillion dollars short, by Republican standards, of effectively reining in the national debt. But the more relevant fact about the White House budget may be the yawning political void into which it is about to fall on Capitol Hill. Administration officials say their plan offers a path to compromise, a centrist course that avoids the extreme spending cuts of the House Republican budget as well as the $1 trillion tax hike endorsed last month by Senate Democrats. The president’s proposal contains the same set of policies

It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

In a poll conducted by PoliceOne, a majority of law enforcement personnel said universal background checks, "assault weapons" bans, and "high capacity" magazine bans do not make police safer and will not lower violent crime. Armed citizens, on the other hand, do make a positive difference. In the poll of 15,000 law enforcement professionals, 71% of respondents said an "assault weapons" ban would have zero impact on violent crime. Of those surveyed, 95.7% said the same of a "high capacity" magazine ban, and 79.7% said the same in response to a question on universal background checks.

Margaret Thatcher captured Americans’ hearts and minds in a way few other foreign leaders have done, and much of that was because of the symbiotic relationship she had with President Reagan — a relationship that in many ways mirrored the storied “special” friendship between the two countries. Mrs. Thatcher, who died Monday at age 87, was a tough-talking maverick who was bullish on the promise of the U.S. as a force on the international stage. Those traits appealed to Americans weary of the 1970s malaise and eager to hear reasons to believe in themselves. “She had the perfect balance between
