| Somali pirates may not be as active as they once were in the waters off of east Africa, but they still pose a significant danger to anyone who crosses their path. As a group of alleged pirates learned today, however, AK 47s are no match for the power of a NATO warship. Early Wednesday, the crew of the Dutch warship HNMLS Rotterdam spotted a dhow close to the Somali shoreline. Because these kinds of fishing vessels are often used as "mother ships" for pirate crews, a boarding team was routinely dispatched to inspect the vessel.

Sounds like good news to me.
The pirates were never the problem. The lawyers and politician who wouldn't let navies apply the time tested cure were the problem.
The less said about how piracy is suppressed the more effective it is.

IMO, there shouldn't have been any captured pirates. Only dead ones. It always boggled my mind how a half-dozen idiots with a couple of rifles could take command over a sea-going freighter.
But then I think of the law in America that absolutely forbids a long-haul trucker of having ANY weapon of self defense in his cab….not even a baseball bat, or a billy club. Apparently to prevent hi-jackers from getting hurt.
