'Mom, go upstairs.
We're all liberals.'

Ouch. Monday night was the first time I heard my daughter apply that label to herself, and the word didn't please me. She and six friends/coworkers were about to watch the final Obama-Romney debate on the large-screen TV in our suburban basement. These twenty-something kiddies were enjoying our hospitality because it was free. They're a company (founder, partners, contractors, trainee), part of the start-up trend whereby young persons hang out at coffee shops, staring into laptops, trying to start the next Foursquare or Fab and make a billion dollars. Until that happens, they can't

Liberals change to conservatives once they get their first paycheck and see alllll the taxes that have been removed for 'free' healthcare, 'free' contraception and 'free' green energy. Libs never grow up; us 'Cons' have to grow up in a hurry!

She really should have shamed the four rude little idiots that didn't even have the common courtesy to thank her for the free room and food.

Lie-berals honsetly believe that being rude and hateful towards conservatives (and libertarians) is acceptable since they see conservatives as some sub-human, unelightened species.

She should have presented each one with a bill when they left.

I remembered when my niece was about that age. I was stunned listening to her talk but I always expressed my opinion and soon backed her into a corner. Took a few years but she got over being a liberal.

Her children are not liberals. They are just children. Their world is still largely make believe. Their political opinions are worthless and should not cause anyone distress. They have no idea what they are talking about nor, of course, any idea that they have no idea. They are teenaged twenty-somethings with more growing up to do. Life will iron out the wrinkles and rectify the major errors of many of them. One of the more serious fallacies of contemporary popular opinion is that children and young people without any experience of life have something significant to contribute to political discourse. The consequences of such an irrational belief be seen in the Sixties and all that followed.

This article coincided with my wife's comment this morning about the incredible devices we were using, the iPhone and iPad. My reaction was that Apple and other firms had simply created interactive TV, with a resulting decline in our knowledge of grammar, math, history, science, economics and political science. The article explained how the 20 something basement dwellers, aka liberals, were using their devices to tweet disparaging comments about Romney during Monday's debate while Mom tried to explain BO's prevarications.

Barack Obama is a terribly flawed and failed president. Until the debates, he had a strong chance of being reelected without an agenda, without an honest discussion of what has gone wrong in his tenure, and without any coverage of his opaque background, his executive orders, his czars, etc. All while sales of I whatevers soared. We have incredible access to information, yet we are apparently less informed than ever, as Annie Lake's article details. Strange.

Kids like these only know how they ''feel'' when someone like Obama talks. They have no interest in fact checking either. That would be the LAST time my kid dragged her friends into my home. I'd like to see the epilog to this story of what she said to her daughter.

I might have said (but didn't), "Obama's economic policy is the reason you guys don't have a real job!"

That's where the writer loses my respect. It's her house, her money, her hospitality and they're being snarky.

What's the matter with saying, "Okay, pay up. I'm sick of your mooching AND your politics."

Taking hospitality from someone without showing proper deference and gratitude is tacky, rude, and crass. I hope the author decides to make a rule from now on not to extend her hospitality to such. :stillsteaming:

She is enabling their Liberalism and Obamas Lies.
Also, they will not have a home and children because they will be dependent upon the largess of the government and its unionized thugs.
As to keeping a large house so kids can come home and freeload - No! no!No!
It is not good for either of them. It further infantilizes the children and ensures Obamacare and death panels for the parents.
At a minimum, the "children" should have contributed to food-after all they did have money for beer and wine- and done their laundry before leaving.
It could be worse, her daughter could be marrying one of them!

I recognize their plight, but I DO wish these jackasses who support the left all of the tragedy that leftism brings into their lives and I say to them,"You deserve this." You deserve unemployment, weak currency, uncertainty about your future, and all the other identifying effects that liberalism leaves in its wake.

Where was her husband in all this? Why would he allow his daughter and her friends to behave so badly in his house, in front of his wife? And why bother going to church if you don't stand up for anything preached there? This is part of the reason we never finished our basement. Our kids are free to have their friends over but they are all part of the family when they're here. Funny thing is, they seem to really enjoy it.

The couple should sell their large house instead of awaiting an almost certain return to the nest by the daughter and move into a small, low-maintenance condo with the only spare bedroom turned into an office and/or sewing room.

We have turned our extra rooms into a man cave, a sewing/crafts room and a cats' room. We have no sofa-bed, only a single air-bed which would have to go on the floor.

ANY subject you choose will quickly expose the bottom line of beliefs. Abortion to remedy irresponsible sex, Drugs to 'enhance' their lifestyle, etc.

On the other hand with a liberal it is easy to overestimate their knowledge base. I was arguing with a friend about BHO's economic policies and he had no idea who Ben Bernanke was. After he blamed BHO's problems on Republican opposition, I asked him to name ONE thing BHO didn't get that he wanted. End of discussion.

Yes it is. It is also indicative of what a sap this woman is.

Inviting her daughter to stay is one thing but inviting the other adults is another. She should have kicked them out the second they tried to treat her like a second class citizen in her own home.

This article makes me proud of my two sons (17 & 14) who openly mocked Obama during the second debate. The younger one wanted me to turn on the 3rd debate after the Cardinals fell behind by so much so early just so he could heckle Obama again. My oldest son would listen to me rant about politics and Leftists when he was younger, and he just admitted to me recently that he went out on his own and looked up what I was saying to see why I had my opinions (fact-checking me). "Dad is a smart guy, so he has to have a good reason why he says what he says, so let's find out why.".... his words describing his thought process. Now he's just as conservative, if not more, than me.

I am going to give you a lesson...make everyone of them turn over what ever money they have to her...then take 60% or so for their "free internet\food\tv", take another 30% to pay for her political support\her contributions...then as she "gave back" the pittance that the government felt they could keep pick out a couple of them who are the snarkiest and point out honestly it wasn't really their money and she didn't think they needed any of the money..."they didn't build that" plus load it up on a couple of the others who contributed the least and make a point that they would like her so much more and keep voting for her as long as she took their money and it to them.

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found woeful numbers for President Barack Obama and Democrats at they head into the 2014 midterms. The numbers come just one day after Democrat Alex Sink lost a special election in Florida, which many believe augurs poorly for the party in November. The poll found Obama’s approval falling to 41%, his lowest in the poll’s history; George W Bush’s approval rating in the WSJ/NBC poll stood at 37% when he lost Congress in 2006. It’s rare in politics that anything other than a presidential contest is viewed as a “must win” — but the special election in Florida’s 13th District falls into that category for Democrats. A loss in the competitive March 11 contest would almost certainly be regarded by dispassionate observers as a sign that President Barack Obama could constitute an albatross around the neck of his party’s nominees in November. And that could make it more difficult for Democratic candidates, campaign committees and interest groups to raise money and energize the grass roots. Fundamentally, the district, left vacant by the death of

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown frustrated with what she saw as the network´s liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network´s corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt like her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her reporting on air.

In an online comedy bit with comedian Zach Galifianakis, Pres. Obama asks what could be considered a very serious question. In a mock online interview on the Funny Or Die website, Obama asks Galifianakis if he thinks First Lady Michelle Obama would marry a nerd: (Video) Zack Galifianakis: "You said if you had a son, you would not let him play football. What makes you think that he would want to play football? What if he was a nerd, like you?" Pres. Obama: "Do you think a woman like Michelle would marry a nerd?"

You have probably seen all of the ridiculous speculating about the GOP nomination in 2016. This is still speculating, but my sincere hope is you don’t think it’s ridiculous too. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is laying the foundation for his presidential bid in concrete and steel. First, forget about Jeb Bush unless you want to hand Hillary eight years in the White House. The latest Rasmussen poll shows her leading Jeb in a general election 47 percent to 33. His name is Bush and to the general public the specifics of how smart he is doesn’t matter one iota. Then there’s Ted Cruz,

Beyoncé and Jennifer Garner are among the prominent women taking a stand against the term "bossy" and what it stands for in regards to female empowerment. "Being labeled something matters," Garner, 34, says in a promotional video for the campaign. The effort against discouraging girls from leadership is a joint push from the Girl Scouts of America and the Lifetime network. The PSA also includes participation from Jane Lynch, Condoleezza Rice, Diane von Furstenberg, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and "Lean In" author Sheryl Sandberg. "Girls are less interested in leadership than boys," Beyoncé says, while Lynch adds, "and that´s

Virgin CEO Richard Branson said that those who are skeptical of man-made global warming should “get out of our way,” joining the ranks of CEOs lashing out against those opposed to business investments in “sustainability.” Branson made his remarks in the wake of Apple CEO Tim Cook’s telling global warming skeptics to “get out of this stock” if they did not agree with the company’s green investment strategy. Cook made his comments after being confronted by a free-market activist who pressed him on putting the environment ahead of profitable investments. “If you want me to do things only for [return on investment] reasons,

On “The O’Reilly Factor” on Tuesday night, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer criticized President Barack Obama for his foreign policy but downplayed the effects of Obama’s interview with Zach Galifianakis in a Funny or Die video on Russian President Vladimir Putin of Obama. “I think it’s a kind of arrogance,” Krauthammer said. “He thinks he has a good foreign policy. I think he is semi-delusional about the results of these five years. There is not a spot in the world you -- can go from Syria to Libya to Iran to China, to Russia to Ukraine

St. Petersburg, Florida- In the first major ballot box test of 2014, the GOP won. Republican David Jolly edged out Democrat Alex Sink to win Tuesday´s special election in Florida´s 13th Congressional District. Jolly will fill out the term of his former boss, Republican Rep. Bill Young, who died in October. Young, first elected to Congress in 1970, was the longest-serving Republican in the House. With national Republicans framing the race as a referendum on Obamacare and a massive infusion of outside ad money to try to influence the outcome, pundits have looked to the Florida race as a bellwether

How would you feel if a police officer you knew for 20 years told you that if an order were issued to confiscate your guns, he wouldn’t hesitate to “kick your door in”? This was the precisely the experience Connecticut resident, Navy veteran and former firefighter John Cinque had after commenting on his state’s 2013 violation of the Second Amendment. The law in question criminalizes the sale of magazines holding more than 10 rounds and also certain semi-automatic rifles, and mandates that all grandfathered weapons and magazines must be registered with the state. As for Cinque and the exchange with

During the all-night Senate speech about climate change, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., said he drove to Hawaii as a teenager. "I just do want to say that right after I turned 17 and got my New Jersey driver´s license, one of the earliest places I drove was a trip — the only trip I have ever taken was to Hawaii," he said on the floor at about 3:00 a.m. "You didn´t drive to Hawaii," Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., said, correcting the freshman senator. Booker laughed weakly. "I did not drive to Hawaii," he admitted. "Thank you for that clarification, I

Sean Hannity introduced last night’s climate change all-nighter session in the Senate by calling it a “waste of time” for Democrats. He then invited Fox’s Bob Beckel and Greenpeace co-founder turned climate change skeptic Patrick Moore to hash it out over what Hannity called “propaganda and a hoax.” After accusing Beckel of saying everyone in the South believes “crap,” Hannity moved on to Moore, asking him “where is the evidence to suggest this is real and not a political agenda?” “There is no scientific proof that we’re causing climate change,” Moore declared, stressing that he does believe the planet is
