| GOLDEN, Colo.- Clint Eastwood is back -- without a chair and on script -- cutting a new ad urging voters to support Mitt Romney. The ad, entitled "At Stake", is a 30-second spot from the super PAC American Crossroads, which supports Republican candidates around the country and is run by Karl Rove."In the last few years, America's been knocked down," Eastwood's distinctive raspy voice says over images of an abandoned factory and unemployed workers. "When someone doesn't get the job done, you've gotta hold them accountable," Eastwood continues. "We need someone who can turn it around fast and that man

White House Correspondents’ Dinner parties are fun, but partying at the White House is better if you ask celebrity couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. “Nothing will compare” to partying late-night with President Barack Obama after the inauguration, Teigen told POLITICO at the Time/People cocktail party on Friday. “It was surreal. I went to the back and I shed a tear, I really did.” Still, they’re planning to have a good time at Saturday’s dinner. “It’s one of our favorite dates,” Legend said. “We love politics and we love humor.” Asked who he thinks will be funnier, Conan O’Brien or Obama,

Governor Sarah Palin, responding to Barack Obama’s speech to Planned Parenthood today, took on Obama on her Facebook page. She noted that it was no accident that the same day Obama addressed the giant abortion provider, she was addressing a pro-life woman’s resource center. She succinctly cited Obama’s record of support for abortion, as well: There’s no such thing as a coincidence. Today I’m looking forward to speaking at a pro-life women’s resource center in Nevada. I intend again to remind women that we are strong enough and capable enough to choose life and work together to create

A government watchdog group has discovered that the United States government is advising Spanish-speaking residents that they need not declare their immigration status to qualify for food stamps. Judicial Watch obtained the Spanish-language flyers through a Freedom of Information Act request and announced on Thursday that the "promotion of the food stamp program, now known as ´SNAP´ (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), includes a Spanish-language flyer provided to the Mexican Embassy by the USDA. A statement on the flyer—emphasized in bold and underlined—reads, “You need not divulge information regarding your immigration status in seeking this benefit for your children.”

The Department of Transitional Assistance has released to lawmakers new details of the government money received by the Marathon bombing suspects and their families. As the Herald reported earlier this week, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev received benefits as children, when their parents, Anzor and Zubeidat Tsarnaev, were beneficiaries. “The Tsarnaev parents were eligible to receive benefits as legal, non-citizen residents who were granted asylum status and met the basic eligibility criteria for DTA, including household income levels, presence of dependent children and other factors,” said the letter from DTA interim commissioner Stacey Monahan to David Linsky, Chairman of the

When the new $100 bills come out in October 2013, they´ll feature even more images related to Philadelphia. Local legend Ben Franklin will still grace the front, or obverse, but his image will be bigger and won´t be surrounded by an oval. The new $100 bill´s long-delayed release date is now Oct. 8, 2013. The bill will feature all sorts of familiar Philadelphia images, starting, of course, with local legend Ben Franklin. He´s why C-notes are also called Benjamins. The Declaration of Independence and the Liberty Bell, part of two new security features, join a new view of Independence Hall.

Tom Brokaw declined his invitation to this year´s White House Correspondents’ Dinner because of Lindsay Lohan. “Somewhere along the line, it began to freewheel out of control," the renowned anchorman told Politico about the celeb-filled soiree, "and the breaking point for me was Lindsay Lohan.” The trouble-making actress was invited as a guest of Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren at the 2012 dinner. Page Six’s Cindy Adams recalled how Lohan disappeared a few times to the bathroom for a cigarette and tipped a bathroom attendant a crumpled $100 and said, “You’re too old to be doing this.”

The landing gear from one of the hijacked planes that smashed into the World Trade Center has turned up nearly 12 years later — wedged behind the controversial “Ground Zero Mosque.” The piece of the doomed plane was found just two blocks north of the Lower Manhattan site where the Freedom Tower is rising to replace the Twin Towers. The first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, crashed into the north tower at 8:46 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2001. United Airlines Flight 175 slammed into the south tower exactly 17 minutes later. It was not immediately clear which plane

BERLIN— They were feasts of sublime asparagus — laced with fear. And for more than half a century, Margot Woelk kept her secret hidden from the world, even from her husband. Then, a few months after her 95th birthday, she revealed the truth about her wartime role: Adolf Hitler´s food taster. Woelk, then in her mid-twenties, spent two and a half years as one of 15 young women who sampled Hitler´s food to make sure it wasn´t poisoned before it was served to the Nazi leader in his "Wolf´s Lair," the heavily guarded command center

During a speech this morning at the Planned Parenthood gala, President Obama vowed he would never allow Republicans to cut taxpayer funds for the abortion provider. “If there’s one thing the past few years have shown is that Planned Parenthood isn’t going anywhere,” Obama said as the crowd cheered. “It’s not going anywhere today, It’s not going anywhere tomorrow.” Obama was wildly received by the audience when he entered the room - the first sitting president to address the nation’s largest abortion provider. “Everybody sit down,” Obama said sheepishly. “You’re making me blush.”

"As long as we´ve got to fight to make sure women have access to quality, affordable health care, and as long as we´ve got to fight to protect a woman´s right to make her own choices about her own health, I want you to know that you´ve also got a president who´s going to be right there with you, fighting every step of the way," said Obama. "Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you."

Two unnamed U.S. officials have told the Associated Press that the surviving suspect in the Boston bombings was unarmed when police captured him hiding inside a boat in a neighborhood back yard. The report contradicts the Boston police department´s own account of Dzhokar Tsarnaev´s capture on Friday - after commissioner Ed Davies described a firefight between him and officers before the terror suspect was captured. The New York Times also said an M4 rifle had been found on the boat - another claim contradicted by the latest revelations. Officers had originally said they had exchanged gunfire

The new logo for the University of Connecticut’s sports teams is a terrifying husky dog that calls to mind images of sexual assault, says one student. The new logo was unveiled last week, receiving mixed-to-negative reviews from UConn fans who preferred the older, cuter husky dog. But one student went much further, criticizing the new, meaner logo for being a pro-rape symbol. In an open letter to UC President Susan Herbst, self-described feminist student Carolyn Luby wrote that the redesigned team logo will intimidate women and empower rape culture. UConn basketball coach Geno Auriemma said the logo

During an April 24 address to the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), Attorney General Eric Holder told the crowd that “creating a pathway to earned citizenship” is a critical element of any comprehensive immigration reform plan. He said that establishing legal status for the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants is a “matter of civil and human rights.” “Creating a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million unauthorized immigrants in this country is essential,” Holder said to applause. “The way we treat our friends and neighbors who are undocumented by creating a mechanism for

Tuesday morning, a peculiar announcement trickled out of the White House press office: President Barack Obama would be holding a moment of silence for the victims of the Boston bombings. At the White House. By himself. No press or other intruders allowed. That Obama assumed Americans would want an iconic photo of him privately mourning the victims of the bombings was emblematic of a kind of hubris that has enveloped the president and his White House as the president commences his second term.

Progressive publication Mother Jones has revealed yet another secretly-recorded video of a Republican saying something newsworthy. This time, it’s of GOP pollster and frequent Fox News analyst Frank Luntz remarking that Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, and other right-wing talk radio hosts are “problematic” for the Republican Party’s efforts to reach out to other demographics and to fight the polarization of politics. The video was recorded on an iPhone while Luntz delivered a College Republicans-sponsored speech at the University of Pennsylvania earlier this week. Most of his speech reportedly consisted of his thoughts on how words matter — for

Are you alarmed by the counterterrorism failures increasingly evident as we learn more about the Boston terror attack? Don’t be. Former CIA director Michael Hayden has helpfully explained, “This tragedy is the new normal.” Are you surprised that a whole city was ordered to “shelter in place” as one “knockoff jihadi,” in Vice President Biden’s term, roamed the streets? As Obamacare was winding its way through the Senate in 2009, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) slipped in an amendment requiring that members of Congress, and their staff, enroll in Obamacare’s health insurance exchanges. The idea was simple: that if Congress was going to impose Obamacare upon the country, it should have to experience what it is imposing firsthand. But now, word comes that Congress is quietly seeking to rescind that provision of the law, because members fear that staffers who face higher insurance costs will leave the Hill. The news has sparked outrage

In retrospect, George W. Bush’s legacy doesn’t look as bad as it did when he left office. It looks worse. I join the nation in congratulating Bush on the opening of his presidential library in Dallas. Like many people, I find it much easier to honor, respect and even like the man — now that he’s no longer in the White House. But anyone tempted to get sentimental should remember the actual record of the man who called himself The Decider. Begin with the indelible stain that one of his worst decisions left on our country’s honor: torture.

He sees “a huge train wreck coming down” with the implementation of President Obama’s health care takeover. Now he tells us. With no sense of irony, the senator complained to Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of Health and Human Services, that he is “very concerned” that Obamacare exchanges will not open on time. “The administration’s public information campaign

Carville, a Democrat, and Matalin, a Republican, previously worked together on the 1993 release "All´s Fair." Blue Rider is billing them as "the nation´s best-known, most annoying,
