| President Obama will try to hit young voters where they live -- on MTV. The president will headline Ask Obama Live: An MTV Interview With the President at 5 p.m. ET Friday, the music television network said today. "The half-hour special will feature MTV News correspondents Sway Calloway, who will sit down with the president in the White House, and Andrew Jenks, who will be on the ground at a college campus in Washington, D.C., with a group of young voters," MTV said. MTV said viewers can submit possible questions on its Facebook page.

The only bright spot in an Obama win for me is that I will then hopefully live long enough to watch MTV viewers and most of Zero's other supporters suffer far more than they could ever believe possible. You reap what you sow, and it's time these people found out first hand. Won't do us ldotters much good, but at least we will get that satisfaction.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has its roots in the October 27, 1993 conference at a Marriott Hotel in Philadelphia that was attended by 25 supporters and members of Hamas. The 1993 conference had as its purpose the subversion of the Oslo Accords. Israel had to be destroyed, not accommodated. Among those in attendance was Nihad Awad. The FBI monitored and recorded the meeting. The evidence derived from the meeting played a key role in the (successful) prosecution of the Holy Land

Hundreds of employees from stores such as McDonald´s Corp., Macy´s Inc. and Victoria´s Secret walked off the job today in Chicago for higher wages, three weeks after a similar strike by fast-food workers in New York. The employees marched in the Chicago Loop and near the Magnificent Mile shopping area, calling for $15-an-hour pay, 82 percent more than the state´s minimum wage, and the right to form a union without intimidation. The one-day strike was arranged by the Workers Organizing Committee of Chicago, a group of retail and food workers, according to a statement yesterday.

The artist famous for the "Hope" and "Change" posters which helped propel Barack Obama to the American presidency in 2008 has lent his artwork to the country´s gun control lobby. Today Shepard Fairey will be distributing copies of his latest work to protesters in Washington D.C. who are marching on the offices for the lobbyists for the National Rifle Association (NRA). The match, led by Occupy the NRA and other groups, comes shortly after a proposal to expand the background checks for people buying guns online

A bullet point on Page 18 of President Barack Obama’s 2014 budget sounds ominous: “Prohibit Individuals from Accumulating Over $3 Million in Tax-Preferred Retirement Accounts.” That it appears in a section titled “Strengthening the Middle Class” is odd since such a proposal would seem to undermine the goal. Why, at a time when the government is looking to reform entitlement programs because it can’t keep the promises it has made to future generations, does Obama want to reduce the incentive to save? It makes no sense. Suddenly, the political agenda becomes obvious.

The latest victims of the sequester? The Boston bombing suspect’s lawyers. The Massachusetts public defender’s office, like other federal public defender offices around the country, was already facing furloughs because of the sequester. And that was before the Massachusetts office took on the biggest case in the country: the defense of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the 19-year-old suspect who has been charged in connection with the Boston Marathon attacks. Three weeks ago, Miriam Conrad, who heads the office, told the Boston Globe her staff was facing 16 and a half furlough days because of the automatic sequester cuts –

DALLAS — President Obama has left little mystery about how he views his predecessor. “The failed policies of George W. Bush” wiped away a budget surplus and “squandered the legacy” of bipartisan foreign policy. Mr. Bush put two wars “on a credit card,” led the country away “from our values” and “crashed the economy.” But Mr. Obama will surely say none of that when he helps dedicate the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum on Thursday. Addressing a crowd of Bush supporters and administration veterans, the 44th president will no doubt extoll the virtues of the 43rd president

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Senate is calling for drug testing of welfare recipients with a history of using illegal drugs. The Republican leader of the Senate, Del Marsh of Anniston, moved to pass a drug testing bill immediately after the Senate convened at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Most of the Republican senators and all of the Democrats had not yet entered the chamber. Marsh asked to have the bill passed using the roll call from a previously passed bill. No one objected, and the bill automatically passed 22-10. Democrats opposed to the bill rushed to the chamber to complain

NEWARK — Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark was a school out of control. In the hallways, students would fight — they´d smoke pot in the stairwells. Teachers lived in fear. When they weren´t being abused, they were ignored. Many skipped school all together. There were no fires, but the fire alarm would go off almost daily. (snip) "They´re destroying the computers. They´ve destroyed the printer. And this is how they behaved," says school principal Gemar Mills in his corner office, showing on his computer the shaky video of mayhem posted on YouTube following the 2010-2011 school year.

Pelosi, the target of extensive GOP attack ads over the years, is viewed unfavorably by 48 percent of Americans in the Gallup poll. Only 31 percent have a favorable opinion of the former House Speaker. The same number have a positive opinion about current House Speaker John Boehner, with 41 percent having an unfavorable.

WASHINGTON — In the years before the Boston Marathon bombings, Tamerlan Tsarnaev fell under the influence of a new friend, a Muslim convert who steered the religiously apathetic young man toward a strict strain of Islam, family members said. Under the tutelage of a friend known to the Tsarnaev family only as Misha, Tamerlan gave up boxing and stopped studying music, his family said. He began opposing the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He turned to websites and literature claiming that the CIA was behind the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and Jews controlled the world.

The Patrick administration clamped down the lid yesterday on Herald requests for details of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s government benefits, citing the dead terror mastermind’s right to privacy. Across the board, state agencies flatly refused to provide information about the taxpayer-funded lifestyle for the 26-year-old man and his brother and accused accomplice Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19. On EBT card status or spending, state welfare spokesman Alec Loftus would only say Tamerlan Tsarnaev, his wife and 3-year-old daughter received benefits that ended in 2012. He declined further comment.

Citing administration emails provided to the House committees, the 46-page report claims that “to protect the State Department, the Administration deliberately removed references to al-Qaeda-linked groups and previous attacks

Marathon bombings mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev was living on taxpayer-funded state welfare benefits even as he was delving deep into the world of radical anti-American Islamism, the Herald has learned. State officials confirmed last night that Tsarnaev, slain in a raging gun battle with police last Friday, was receiving benefits along with his wife, Katherine Russell Tsarnaev, and their 3-year-old daughter. The state’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services said those benefits ended in 2012 when the couple stopped meeting income eligibility limits. Russell Tsarnaev’s attorney has claimed Katherine — who had converted to Islam —

Tamerlan Tsarnaev is telling no tales. The older of the two brothers who committed the Boston Marathon bombings was likely the one who planned the attack, but when he died in a shootout with police just days after the blasts, his thoughts and motivations vanished with him. But the brain that was home to his angry mind remains, and in this case that may mean something. Tsarnaev was an amateur boxer who won the New England Golden Gloves competition as recently as 2009 and 2010. That speaks to a young man with a healthy sense

Two unnamed U.S. officials have told the Associated Press that the surviving suspect in the Boston bombings was unarmed when police captured him hiding inside a boat in a neighborhood back yard. The report contradicts the Boston police department´s own account of Dzhokar Tsarnaev´s capture on Friday - after commissioner Ed Davies described a firefight between him and officers before the terror suspect was captured. The New York Times also said an M4 rifle had been found on the boat - another claim contradicted by the latest revelations. Officers had originally said they had exchanged gunfire

Since the Boston bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was captured, there’s been quite a debate over his Miranda rights and how to treat him — given that he’s a United States citizen. An Associated Press report out this morning is sure to add fuel to the fire. As soon as he was read his Miranda rights, it says, Tsarnaev stopped talking. The report notes that Tsarnaev was read his rights 16 hours after his interrogation had began. Then, he fell silent: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev immediately stopped talking after a magistrate judge and a representative from the U.S. Attorney’s office entered his

President Obama and the First Lady have come up with a crafty strategy to prevent their daughters from getting tattoos — and it banks on the girls thinking their parents are deeply uncool. “What we’ve said to the girls is, ‘If you guys ever decide you´re going to get a tattoo, then mommy and me will get the exact same tattoo. In the same place,’” Obama said with a smile. “And we´ll go on YouTube and show it off as a family tattoo.” “And our thinking is that might dissuade them from thinking that that somehow that´s

This time, it’s of GOP pollster and frequent Fox News analyst Frank Luntz remarking that Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, and other right-wing talk radio hosts are “problematic” for the Republican Party’s efforts to reach out to other demographics and to fight the polarization of politics. The video was recorded on an iPhone while Luntz delivered a College Republicans-sponsored speech at the University of Pennsylvania earlier this week. Most of his speech reportedly consisted of his thoughts on how words matter — for

As Obamacare was winding its way through the Senate in 2009, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) slipped in an amendment requiring that members of Congress, and their staff, enroll in Obamacare’s health insurance exchanges. The idea was simple: that if Congress was going to impose Obamacare upon the country, it should have to experience what it is imposing firsthand. But now, word comes that Congress is quietly seeking to rescind that provision of the law, because members fear that staffers who face higher insurance costs will leave the Hill. The news has sparked outrage

Think of it as a horizontal townhouse. Most developers hype the sky-high verticals of their new glitzy buildings, but a new condominium called The Whitman — soon to be home to former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton - has a completely different selling point: It features the longest apartments in the city. The four-unit building stretches an entire block between E. 26th and E. 27th Sts. It takes almost 30 second to walk the approximate 250-foot central corridor. The one clear thing that came out of last week´s chaotic activity in Boston, Massachusetts is that real reporters were missing. For that matter, they´ve been missing since last year´s attack in Benghazi. From Benghazi, the Gosnell abortion trial, gun control debates, immigration and then the Boston Marathon bombings, television news reporting has become positively painful to watch. The First Amendment to the Constitution grants freedom of the press but this was supposed to endow it with a responsibility to be the people´s watchdog. The modern Fourth Estate represented by the mainstream media has made a mockery of this privilege.
