| In the run up to last night's debate, the Army Old Guard used its caisson horses in the burial of six veterans at Arlington, and certainly since twitter was ablaze with Obama's "horses and bayonets" line, a few more have been buried. This is not about a fact check (yes, the military still uses bayonets, and even does bayonet charges, just not as frequently), rather it's about remembering why the military still uses horses and bayonets, and how they both still play a valuable role for ceremonial purposes and in actual combat. Obama is a baffoon, and HATES the military as do most liberal Democrats.
Loved his ignorance on submarines being "ships that go underwater" comment.
He was rude and condenscending to the audience but his inner-self must have thought he had to spell it out like he was talking to a 3rd-grade class.

Bayonets will probably never completely go away. it is a weopon used when all things else have failed or when you wish to really intimidate (and kill) the enemy at close quarters.
Horses are not that important as in the old days, but they can get in and pack into places nothing else can even ATV's.
BTW, I will be glad to sell a few to the military (or any one else).

Chevy Volt or Horse, the volt could do 75 miles and hour and the horse 3 miles and hour; guess who gets to the 100 mile mark first.

Bayonets never jam or run out of ammunition and blade weapons will never be obsolete. However, I'm still a little confused about submarines that go UNDER the water. I would sure hate to be on that crew...

They were giddy with portraying Mitt as going backwards and this was to show how 'old fashioned' he is. Since BHO has never been in a fist fight in his life, he has no idea why the military would still use bayonets. He can tell you all about that strange wedding ring he wears, but he really has no interest in the correct terminology about submarines.

I'm so glad that Obama was able to school Romney on the various types of "ships" our navy has. Who knew we had ships called aircraft carriers, and that planes could land on them? Wow!
Gee, we even had submarines during the Civil War. Of course they were not nuclear submarines.
Obama sounded as though David Axelrod had just told him about the vessels the navy has. The campaign's military advisors had just told Axelrod about them the day before.
Who knows what revelations will be coming next?

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

A week after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, a majority of voters said President Barack Obama’s response to the crisis wasn’t a factor in their vote, according to early exit polls. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all. As expected, the presidential race is tight in Ohio, where the polls just closed: President Obama is winning women 55 percent to 44 percent in the early CBS News exit poll, while Mitt Romney is leading 52 percent to 46 percent among men. Women made up 51 percent of the electorate, compared to 49 percent among women. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
