| Apple unveiled its hotly anticipated 7.9-inch iPad Mini this afternoon, an “entirely new design” of its trail-blazing tablet. “There is nothing as amazing as this, this beautiful new iPad Mini,” said Apple’s top marketing officer Phil Schiller.At 7.2 millimeters thick, it’s a quarter as thin as the fourth-generation iPad, also announced today. It weighs .68 pounds. “It’s as light as a pad of paper,” Schiller said. Available in Apple’s customary black and white, the iPad Mini fits in your palm and can be held in landscape or portrait mode. All 275,000 apps available for iPad are compatible.

iPads aren't cheap. I was looking for something for my oldest who's Autistic. I was looking an a iPad and a Kindle Fire. I choose the Kindle Fire because it's a better investment. No monthly bills to keep it activated and it's cheaper. And I don't need one either. I have a computer and a iPhone 4. That's enough for me.

After a back and neck injury last year, my laptop was difficult to impossible to use. My sister gave me an iPad2. While I still believe that an Android based tablet would have been cheaper, I like the size of the iPad much better. I can't imagine the angst of many Apple consumers of iProducts being a bit sore about just spending a fortune for the iPad3, and now a NEWER version is announced as well as the smaller one? OUCH!!!

I predict the smaller version will soon become standard equipment in elementary classrooms. There are dozens of great APPs for little kids (lots of junk too) and with the ability to customize content and save results for assessment, it holds a lot of promise. I say this as someone who is being forced to use an iPad in my teaching and has been reluctant to invest the time needed to master it.

How long before they release an iPad Nano?
Not that I want to get one -- just that Apple's current strategy seems to be headed toward a single sort of hardware (available in a number of sizes - from pocket-size to wall-hanging dimensions) configurable to fill 3 or 4 different product-identities alone or in combinations (think iPod, iPhone, and/or iPad).

#6, Ipad with 3G is $30/month. I wouldn't get one without 3G so when you are not within WiFi range you still get full internet reception. That's the point of having one- so you can take it anywhere.

CHARLESTON, W.Va.— A prosecutor says a suspect in the fatal shooting of a West Virginia sheriff was legally prohibited from possessing one. Mingo County Prosecutor Michael Sparks declined to say Wednesday where 37-year-old Tennis Melvin Maynard bought the gun. But Sparks says "it appears that the system didn´t work." Sparks also declined to elaborate on why Maynard was barred from owning a gun. But Maynard´s father has said his son had mental problems and had previously been in an institution.

Hundreds of lucky state employees are opting to jump into retirement before they hit age 50 thanks to loopholes in the law, a Herald review of the latest pension report shows. In the past three years, there have been 475 state workers who retired before age 50 — going into their golden years with full pensions for some and partial payouts for others, a Herald review found. Actually, she is backing off. Here’s the thing about her now-famous MSNBC promo: Either she’s saying something radical or she’s saying something so banal that it’s barely even worth saying. The radical interpretation is that she thinks parents should have less say over how their children are raised and that “communities” should have a larger role. The very, very banal interpretation is that she thinks communities should do more to improve children’s lives and that thinking of them as “our children” might help forge that mentality. A new CNN/ORC International poll found President Obama´s overall approval rating has ticked up to 51 percent but ratings have fallen on his handling of the key issues on his agenda: immigration, guns, and the deficit.
