Obama shares plan for
‘next four years,’ asks for
support in new ad

In a new TV ad released Tuesday, President Obama delivers a direct-to-camera address, sharing his plans for a second term agenda and arguing that his administration has made “real progress” addressing the nation’s challenges "There’s just no quit in America and you’re seeing that right now. Over five million new jobs, exports up forty one percent, home values rising, our auto industry back and our heroes are coming home," says Obama in the new ad, amid images of American workers and charts touting his economic record.

The stock market is plummeting today. It seems that driving down the value of the dollar is now coming home to roost. Still want 4 more years of this?

Notice that the Obama campaign is totally reactionary at this point.

I am cautiously optimistic about Romney winning the election - which is completely different than I felt at this time during 2008.

Yep, after running a campaign that essentially painted their opponent in the blackest possible terms and finding that the strategy backfired. After running a campaign that essentially said, "I DESERVE another term," and that backfired because his last four years were not defend-able. Our "Hero" finally realized that he needed to come up with an actual plan for the next four years. Too Little, Too Late ... Good-bye

“Here’s my plan for the next four years: making education and training a national priority; building on our manufacturing boom; boosting American-made energy; reducing the deficits responsibly by cutting where we can; and asking the wealthy to pay a little more. And ending the war in Afghanistan, so we can do some nation-building here at home. That’s the right path.

Education is not a federal authority

There is no manufacturing boom to boost

He's attacked coal, nuclear, oil and gas

We stopped training Afghan troops because they were shooting our troops in the back

Party pros: Mood for this year’s

The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner — considered the glitziest and most buzzworthy event of Washington’s party season — appears to be a bit more low-key this year. Between the guest list absences of some of Hollywood’s brightest stars and a more subdued party scene, many folks working behind the scenes agree this year’s dinner will be decidedly more subdued. One shindig noticeably void from the soiree circuit this year is Funny or Die’s annual First Amendment Party. Last year’s high-caliber bash on the eve of the dinner had partygoers bumping and grinding at the event’s huge

President Obama is well known to have voted against the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act (BAIPA) four times between 2001 and 2003, when he was an Illinois state senator. One of the two companion bills to BAIPA, which Obama also opposed, required that abortionists provide “reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice” to abortion survivors, and further, that abortionists try to anticipate botches and plan to have a second physician present if there was a “reasonable likelihood” that the abortion would result “in a live born child.” Obama was the sole Illinois state senator to speak against

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.– The Inman Square section of Cambridge feels like a small town, with a mix of students and immigrants living in blocks of triple-decker houses, a Boston classic. But on Friday morning, the calm of the neighborhood was shattered. At 8 a.m., police rousted residents from bed, ordering them to evacuate. The brothers Tsarnaev, suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings, lived on Norfolk Street. Police cordoned off the area in a two-block radius and were reportedly searching their apartment for explosives. Crowds of residents, clustered at barricades, kept a nervous watch of the police activity. Before noon, police

Who says beauty doesn´t come with age? Former President George H.W. Bush proved the two go hand in hand after being tapped to announce the 2013 cheerleading squad for the Houston Texans football team. The 88-year-old Bush was all smiles as he hand-delivered roses to the team’s newly selected cheerleaders at the Texans’ training facility in Houston. The frail former leader remained in a wheelchair for the event, but flashed an ear-to-ear grin and American-flag socks that matched the skimpy garments of the cheerleaders as he posed for photos with the bevy of bouncy beauties surrounding him.

Yesterday, the most modest of gun control proposals died in the Senate. It would have expanded background checks to people purchasing weapons at gun shows and online sales, enjoyed 90 per cent support among the public and came on the back of the tragedy at Newtown. Yet, despite all that it had going for it, the Toomey-Manchin bill raised just 54 votes--six short of the number necessary for passage. “This is a pretty shameful day for Washington,” said Obama afterwards. It wasn’t exactly a red letter day for him, either. Why did the no-brainer bill fail? Four reasons:

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.

While the media are bearing the brunt of public skepticism over the handling of the Boston bombing, the behavior of government is also eroding public trust. Yesterday´s promised but cancelled news briefing is just one symptom. Andrew McCarthy of PJM notes that "Misinformation rather than enlightenment has been the order of the day in the investigation of Monday´s terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon," and that part of it is the natural outgrowth of the desire of investigators to keep the details of their investigations secret, so as not to alert suspects.
