Ad watch: Mitt Romney doubles
down on ‘apology tour’

Washington Post, by Rachel Weiner

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 10/23/2012 9:19:49 AM

Mitt Romney, “Apology Tour”. What it says: The ad uses a long clip from Monday’s foreign policy debate, in which Mitt Romney accused President Obama of launching “an apology tour,” of visiting various nations … and criticizing America.” What it means: Romney was more cautious and conciliatory in this debate than he has been in the past. This ad uses one of his more aggressive lines to take the fight back to Obama. The Fact Checker gave the “apology tour” claim Four Pinocchios, saying “the apology tour never happened.”

Comments:
You could tell last night that 0bama is very sensitive and defensive about this issue. Not only did Mitt stick it in his face last night, today it has been turned into an ad. NICE !

I'm sure that's what the Post would like us to believe, but I remember it quite well. Fact checkers can wear their own Phinocchios on this one...

It all depends on what the definition of "apology" is.

If the WaPo is like CNN, they are claiming it never happened bc Obama never used the WORDS, "I apologize..."
It doesn't matter that he told foreigners that the U.S. at times acted "contrary to our traditions and ideals" in its treatment of terrorist suspects, that "America has too often been selective in its promotion of democracy," or that the U.S. "certainly shares blame" for international economic turmoil and has sometimes shown arrogance toward allies...
In Obama's world, actions do NOT speak louder than words.

"Double down" presupposes that it is not true to some extent.

Obama was circling, trying to lure or nudge Romney into a trap, concerning the course of action in the events subsequent to the "event" at Benghazi. But Romney never fell for it, speaking in parsed and guarded terms. Obama tried to use the same tactic on speculation about "what would YOU do" on Syria, but again, Romney was way short of declaring war on what remains of Bashar al-Assad's regime. Finally, Obama was reduced to making repeated interruptions and trying to talk over Romney, which showed some kind of leadership.

From behind, in both senses of the term.

Libtards can't understand that Obama's negative comments about American policies ON FOREIGN SOIL would be interpreted as an apology tour.

How unAmerican has Obama followers become to act this way?

Reply 9 - Posted by: killerbee, 10/23/2012 10:12:03 AM     (No. 8955071)

Now they need to get Obama's snarky bayonettes and horses comment and rip it to shreds. That will sting.

Get the guys who build the ships to mention that they're not quite buggy whip makers yet. Mention, again, that the Navy has requested about 50 more ships than they're getting.

Mention how much the Navy does for our country and how they're hurting under Obama's belief that they're nearly obsolete.

And wrap it up by showing the first troops in Afghanistan riding by on horses and the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with their bayonets fixed.

I know a lot of Dems who are crowing about this line today. That crow will not taste so good if someone actually makes this ad.

BS Everybody in the country was calling it the apology tour at the time. It was the first time a sitting President bowed to a foreign leader as if he were a subordinate. It was disgusting at the time and the memory of that hasn't faded yet.

Whatever we want to call this 'tour' its purpose was definite: he went to these countries to say the old America didn't treat you right and I'm here to change that. The message was there's a new sheriff in town and he don't carry a gun.

"Apology" is too nice a word, IMO.

Driver to homeowner: My foot slipped off of the brake and hit the accelerator, my car then jumped the curb into your yard taking out a tree and ruining your grass. I will make amends but first let me say I am very, very sorry I did this.
MSM: The driver failed to offer an apology; no where in his remarks did he use the word "apologize".

The U.S. has been denied direct access to the only publicly known suspect in custody in connection with the Benghazi terror attack, Fox News has learned, with U.S. interrogators still unable to sit in the same room as the Egypt-held prisoner to ask questions. Abu Ahmed, also known as Mohammed Jamal, is suspected of establishing Islamist training camps in Eastern Libya where militants who took part in the Sept. 11 Benghazi terrorist attack were able to train. Ahmed is not suspected of directly taking part in the attack which left four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, dead.

For the past five months, the Republican message on foreign policy message has been defined by a single word: Benghazi. Ever since the deadly September 11 attack on the U.S. compound in that Libyan city, Republicans have obsessed over the episode. Mitt Romney made Benghazi a favorite talking point in the 2012 campaign home stretch. More recently, Republicans have invoked Benghazi to shoot down one would-be cabinet nominee, Susan Rice, and delay two others, Chuck Hagel and John Brennan. They have dragged a parade of administration officials, including Hillary Clinton

TIMBUKTU, Mali - One of the last things the bearded fighters did before leaving this city was to drive to the market where traders lay their carpets out in the sand. The al-Qaida extremists bypassed the brightly-colored, high-end synthetic floor coverings and stopped their pickup truck in front of a man selling more modest mats woven from desert grass, priced at $1.40 apiece. There they bought two bales of 25 mats each, and asked him to bundle them on top of the car, along with a stack of sticks.
