Voters Decide on President by Body Language: Romney Won the Presidency Last Night

| Words don't matter as much as body language when voters decide on the man they trust to lead the nation. Despite all the policy debates, all the fact checking, all the pundits, we don't weigh and balance and research, not most of us. We don't even use our forebrains. We use the most primitive part of our brains, the part that can smell danger, that smells who is the alpha male, who is the omega, who is the rogue. The nose knows who is the real leader. We can smell a winner.

Yep, this guy saw what I saw, thought what I thought and hopefully will vote like I intend to vote.
Now, the question is how many others respond in a similar fashion: Will there be enough votes cast to win?
Obama-Mao has his lawyers lined up to challenge any and all close counts.
Evil has to go!

Romney was Presidential. Obama was snarky.

Great read. I think Romney did what was needed last night, and while the debate was a little blamd, Obama ended up looking pretty petty. The sophomoric and condescending aircraft carrier line is going to resonate on the right. Its Obamas attitude toward ordinary Americans in a single sentence.
I too wanted to see Obama floundering over Libya. But I saw something else in Mitts studied avoidance of the issue. It was the first question, Romney addressed it briefly and moved on. As he did so Obama interjected and tried to bring Romney back to Bengazi.
Why would Obama try and steer the question back to the one true Republican red meat question? A good debater would have sighed in relief that his opponent did his dirty work.
I think the Obama camp spent a huge amount of resources on countering this question, expecting it to play a large role. They had apparently laid a trap to goad Romney into one of their "stinging comebacks" which they hoped would become the debate line of the night.
Obama must have desperately wanted to deliver that line. Bengazi was the one subject he should have wanted to avoid at any cost. His eagerness to keep that question alive speaks volumes to me about the wisdom of moving on.
I think well played Romney.

Can't stand to listen to the Won, so I often hit mute when he is speaking on my tv.
Did it during the 2nd debate(couldn't watch the 1st)
Wow, what a difference taking the words out makes to how you see the debates.

We can smell a winner, eh? So what did we smell in 2008?
What we can smell is a loser. What we can smell is fear and cowardice and lying and duplicity, and when we smell something bad we go with the other guy.
Everyone except his fellow travelers can smell BO now.

It is really something that the tough primary season was such a blessing for Romney. Battle tested and bloody, he came out the better man. And Obambi was doing nothing to improve his skills. He just went to the usual hero worship fundraisers and learned nothing of real campaigning. This is the first real campaign (sure, everyone thinks he beat the unbeatable Hitlery but she couldn't win city dog pound superintendent without Slick). Now Romney is the alpha male and its obvious when seen with the ultimate wussy dope smoking wimp, Obambi.

Obama’s handlers told him to just call Romney a liar on every point. It might have worked once but after 4 or 5 times it lost any value. Also, they had also set him up to use the line about “ships that have panes land on them” and ships that go under the water”.
I was a little disappointed that after Obama had spoken about what a great pal he was of Israel, Romney didn’t ask him then why he had time to go on Jon Stewart, The Tonight Show, The View, etc. yet couldn’t make 30 minutes to meet with Netanyahu.

Presidential debates are not high school debates, scored for winners and losers. It is possible to "win" a debate, as Romney did last night, by appearing calm, decent, strong, presidential.
Obama's attempt at a steely gaze came across as unpleasant, hostile, even silly. He didn't faze Romney, and he didn't win anyone's confidence. He made himself smell nasty. A snapping dog doesn't make people feel safe.
Someone (mistakenly) schooled Obama in focusing that "steely gaze" on Romney whenever he was speaking. They didn't realize that over an hour of that would look forced and downright crazy. Jonah Goldberg got it right when he said it looked as though Obama thought it could cause Romney to spontaneously combust.
It only enhanced the meanspirited, small, petty snarkiness of Obama's words.
He lost.

Barak has only two facial expressions.
The goofy "John McCain" type smile.
The gloomy glowering disapproval face.
Romney settles into a pleasant and comfortable facial expression of tolerance and good will.
Very telling in both cases.

Wow. This is the acoustic Obama. A weak and ineffective laughingstock. I can't imagine how truly demoralized his backers have to be.
My husband, an alpha male in his own right, =) and I were talking about ths very thing this morning- how most people aren't very honed in on foreign policy, but that the body language was so apparent last night.
He said that Obamas demeanor and condescension were ridiculous and embarrassing, esp the lines about submarines and aircraft carriers. I'm glad it's becoming so clear.

This is what you're taught if doing presentations, a job interview or other speaking engagements. Words matter the least, body language the most. Optics matter, and I think women are better than men when it comes to picking a winner.
And #19, I'm tempted to answer your question, but I can't honestly do so in good taste.

Don't worry, don't fret, the race is over. Obama has lost his base. I saw the worlds worst looking camper today. It was home made, and looked like it was sitting on a Yugo frame. The inside was trashy and it appeared like something that you see parked at left wing demonstrations.
On the back end there were environmental signs and one that said something like keep the oceans clean. On the right side was a new sign that had a circle with a cross bar. Inside it said NObama. It's over I tell you, even hippies have bugged out.

Curiously enough, I think I saw a subtle transition in the final part of last night's debate.
President Romney was no longer talking to those at the debate, or the millions of Americans watching it. He was communicating directly to important heads of state.
He was telling the Presidents of Egypt, Iran and Pakistan, the PM of Israel, and even the leadership in Mali (yes, we've noticed you!) what they can expect from the American president over the next 4+ years.
What a beautiful segue. He had sold the American public on his presidential bearing; Obama had destroyed himself with his evil, staring, condescending demeanor; and President Romney sensed he could let the world know how American foreign policy would shortly change. It was scintillating to watch.
I like this guy.

You know, the ones who always want to hug you when you see them instead of shaking your hand. I don't just disagree with everything Obama believes and stands for. On a personal level he has always creeped me out. There's just something not right about him. After January we can all stop wasting out time trying to figure out what it is.

Good article and great comments!
What happened in 2008?
First...it was part of an overall plan...the way paved by the unreal media pounding on George W. Bush for eight solid years. The electorate was sick of that.
Second...McCain was inserted, possibly as a career payoff, into the nomination by the Republican Elite Establishment, who knew it was a Democrat year anyway.
Third...McCain could have actually won, which probably scared him silly (or sillier than he usually is), had he only let Sarah loose to campaign hard and everywhere for him. So McCain reined in Sarah and gave away his chance by endorsing the first TARP, which most reasonable people detested.
And now there are a passel of embarrassed Obama voters out there...many will not vote at all this November, others will deny, deny, deny the obvious shortcomings and major faults of Obama and vote/campaign for him anyway. If Romney wins, they will never believe they were in the wrong. If Obama wins, they will have the biggest Life Lesson they have ever encountered.
Major Life Lessons for Stubborn, Stupid People is not a goal of mine and I hope they can continue in their ignorance, because the price we will all pay for their education is way, way too high.

Obama is so sissified, even with that lisp, that I was astonished that he won in 2008. I don't think a similar white candidate would have won. It appears that many voters saw what they wanted to see--in effect, Obama was a blank slate on which they could project what their own idea of hope and change would be.
Remember that Al Bore had an advisor he was counseling him on body language and clothing, to project that he was an alpha male? It didn't work, because the real Gore came through.
I do think that Romney (and most of the Republican candidates) project a more masculine image than Obama ever does.

I noticed that beady-eyed stare of BO's, too. I saw it once before when I was sitting across the table from my ex during divorce negotiations. He was trying to stare my lawyer down & not succeeding. I remarked to my lawyer about it later, because he didn't seem to notice it. He had - and he told me that he knew enough about body language to say that my ex was clearly terrified & knew he was losing.

RE #26:
It is my firm belief that John McCain did not want to WIN the Presidency, he only wanted to RUN for it. He was addicted to the adulation of being "The Candidate," and all of the perks that came with the position. The thought of actually being President, however, was beyond his thinking and ability, hence he reigned in Sarah, suspended his race mid-stream and basically did everything he could to concede the race to Obama without actually dropping out of the race.
If the GOP had run ANYONE else in 2008, we probably would have been spared the nightmare of the last four years. IMHO, John McCain is nearly as much to blame for the hell this country is going through as Obama!!!

A great read and right on the money. Romney is certainly reaching his stride and I pray that nothing will happen in the next 14 days to shake the "oh so important undecideds" that are moving toward Romney. But, Obama and his cretins are scared and cornered and like the dogs they are, they are very, very dangerous right now. Drudge has put some stuff up that looks like the campaign is now going to take a very, very ugly turn. Let us pray that voters will not be swayed by the smut Obama and his goons are going to peddle.

Obama also said, in his condescending manner, that "We have ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines...." He had made it abundantly clear in a Medal of Honor ceremony that he was unfamiliar with the military and its lexicon when he repeatedly referred to "corpsemen". A submarine is a "boat", not a "ship". The leader of the enlisted men on board is called the C.O.B., Chief of Boat, not Chief of Ship....

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

What Americans say in public about same-sex marriage isn´t necessarily a good barometer of public opinion, because, if we´re going to be honest, there´s a huge discrepancy between the opinions that Americans express in polls and the opinions they express at the polls.(snip)It´s important for Americans to understand that the same-sex marriage campaign is about the disenfranchisement of dissenters, not empowerment. Before America embarks on changing the concept of marriage, I hope they will at least agree on examining cultures that do not define marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman. In their eagerness to achieve their goals, the pro gay marriage enthusiasts are marching towards what they perceive as progress and modernity while ignoring lessons from other cultures, history, basic human nature and the horrific and negative unintended consequences of redefining "marriage". Islam´s definition of marriage is one man and up to four women

During the highly publicized exchange between Bill O´Reilly and Laura Ingraham on gay marriage, O´Reilly made this statement: "There are Bible thumpers, and all they do is say, ´I object to gay marriage because God objects to it.´ You don´t win a policy debate in America with that." Really? Before central control out of Washington was imposed in 2003, policy arguments for criminalizing homosexual acts were won explicitly "with that." And because of "that," the idea of gay marriage has been unthinkable throughout the history of the American nation.

It´s one thing for President Obama to be cocky and overstate his prowess at governing. People are used to politicians grabbing credit, and besides, you can always rationalize when it comes to explaining why things didn´t quite work out as you claimed they would - "the sequester ate my recovery" being the latest successful-enough example. But sports is something else. The basketball either goes through the hoop or it doesn´t. That´s why President Obama´s history of braggadocio regarding his prowess at hoops is having a potent effect on his overall public image, especially with those who are favorably inclined to him.

We have already seen Peak Obama; from here on, it´s going to get rougher and rougher for Barack Obama. Even worse, the one word he must fear the most has just been uttered by a man regarded as a bit of a truth-teller among liberal elites. Joe Klein, the celebrated author "Anonymous," who wrote the best selling, truth-telling book Primary Colors about the 1992 primary campaign that brought us President Bill Clinton, has made it ok for liberals to apply the word "incompetence" to the Obama administration. This represents something of a breakthrough. Until now, it has been taboo

The CEO of Starbucks basically told a shareholder that if the shareholder believes in traditional marriage he should dump his Starbucks stock. Historically the job of the CEO has been to make money and increase shareholder value. It would seem telling people who don´t share the CEO´s personal beliefs, whether it´s gay marriage or abortion, to dump the companies stock is not a pro-shareholder action. This is another example of the liberal belief that everything belongs to liberals because they´re just so darn much smarter than the rest of us

News is breaking out all over: global warming stopped 20 years ago. A political earthquake has resulted from a feature story in the Economist magazine because the Economist used to be a consistent cheerleader for global warming activism. Doubts about global warming used to be censored by its London editors, one reporter confided to Stephen Hayward. So what will voters do to Democrat candidates in 2014 and 2016 when the former realize that the Democratic Party was lying to them? The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Amid all of the very real threats of war and stuff from North Korea, you´d think American intelligence officers want as much video footage of the enemy as possible. Well, here is one video featuring North Korean exercises and Kim Jong-Un holding a gun, and we´ll say this: they certainly get points for presentation. Remember the clap-happy report from Dennis Rodman´s diplomatic basketball vacation? This video comes courtesy of the same Youtube channel that gave us that Rodman video. The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
