Libya and Lies

It was a little much when President Barack Obama said that he was "offended" by the suggestion that his administration would try to deceive the public about what happened in Benghazi. What has this man not deceived the public about? Remember his pledge to cut the deficit in half in his first term in office? This was followed by the first trillion dollar deficit ever, under any President of the United States -- followed by trillion dollar deficits in every year of the Obama administration. Remember his pledge to have a "transparent" government

This is so refreshing.. just a few of the things Romney should have said in the great debate. If we want to show that we are not racist by having a black president why not make it Thomas Sowell instead of this fraud and traitor we have now!

And Obama and his crew are going to get a pass on everything that happened over the past four years. They will all walk off into the sunset with big pensions, cushy jobs awaiting and book deals. In a Republican administration with the same scandals, people would have been fired, serving time in prison by now, under indictment, resigned and even impeached.

God bless Mr. Sowell. I so needed to read this, after the disappointment of Romney's failure to ask for the truth about Benghazi. I fear we lost an opportunity to vet this episode to the American people because the legacy media sure isn't going to do it.

Reply 7 - Posted by: StormCnter, 10/23/2012 7:42:43 AM     (No. 8954673)

#6, I think Romney decided that beating up Obama again on Benghazi just gives Obama another chance to muddy up the blame and the defense. It would have produced nothing new and Obama was prepared, perhaps overprepared, since it appeared he didn't get the opening he anticipated and had to readjust.

As to the point on Benghazi, I suspect that Obama was so well prepared on this (and the Romney team would have known it) that there was probably a strategic decision not to bring it up. It was more effective to bring up the fact that Obama went to all the Israel-hating countries as POTUS, but not Israel itself. It was also very effective to keep going back to the economy (Romney's strength) and point out that a weak economy is a major factor in foreign affairs.

I am a little surprised that Romney didn't hammer energy more -- it is one of Obama's weakest areas. No POTUS (prior to Obama) has ever deliberately tried to make the US MORE dependent on foreign powers -- in this case for oil. But that is exactly what Obama's policy is by suppressing domestic energy production. Romney could have easily nailed Obama on that one.

Only serious political observers (us junkie on the right) are really paying attention to the Bengjhazi fiasco and travesty of justice, so it probably made good sense that Mitt changed the debate game.

He could not be certain that Shieffer would not pull a Candy and gang up on him (although old Bob was the best moderator of the four).

Mitt's job was to use the debate to pivot to his strengths, persuade the undecided viewers, especially women, that he is the better choice.

He got the job done. On to Nov 6 for the big win, then on to January 20 to celebrate the end of a long four year nightmare.

About a decade ago, Glenn McGovern began studying targeted attacks on members of the criminal justice community, including judges, prosecutors and police officers. The former SWAT officer had joined the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office in California as an investigator. He saw a need for improved training for the office’s protective unit, he said. “I started researching the kind of attacks so that I could understand them better and we could develop training in order to respond to this type of violence,” McGovern said this week. “And then I also do the threat and risk assessments.

French Chief Rabbi Gilles Bernheim handed in his resignation on Thursday after he admitted that he had committed plagiarism and claimed unearned academic titles, French newspaper Le Figaro reported. The board met in Paris to hear his decision, and lauded his decision as "courageous." Bernheim is usually introduced as an “agrégé,” a sort of “doctor,” a prestigious academic title obtained by civil servants in competitive tests. In Who’s Who, in biographies and in an official book of the Consistoire central des Juifs de France, which administers religious services, the title agrégé of philosophy always appears under Bernheim’s name.

“No British politician has ever been more despised by the British people than Margaret Thatcher,” moody crooner Morrissey contends. “Thatcher’s funeral on Wednesday will be heavily policed for fear that the British tax-payer will want to finally express their view of Thatcher. They are certain to be tear-gassed out of sight by the police. United Kingdom? Syria? China? What’s the difference?” Aside from the smell, a big difference is that people vote in the United Kingdom. In 1979, 1983, and again in 1987, the British people voted for the Conservative Party, which Margaret Thatcher led.

Marco Rubio and the so-called Gang of Eight’s push for comprehensive immigration reform has drawn sharp criticism from conservative skeptics. Perhaps foremost among them is Senator Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.), who has spent the last several weeks trying to galvanize his colleagues in an effort to warn of the potential pitfalls of an ill-conceived and under-scrutinized immigration bill. Sessions is not alone. Senate veterans such as Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa), the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, as well as conservative newcomers such as Mike Lee (R., Utah), among others, have expressed concerns about the process,

There is something profoundly timid about President Obama’s proposed $3.8?trillion budget for 2014. Stripped of boasts about “investments” for the future and a responsible “balance” between deficit reduction and economic growth, the budget is a status-quo document. It lets existing trends and policies run their course, meaning that Obama would allow higher spending on the elderly to overwhelm most other government programs. This is not “liberal” or “conservative” so much as politically expedient and lazy. The trends are clear. From 2014 to 2023, the administration projects annual spending on Social Security to rise from $860?billion to $1.4?trillion,

If that should happen, I would be glad to go back.” And the Nobel Peace Prize winner proceeded to make his case for why Barack Obama and Kim Jong Un should do precisely that. “I know the people there very well,” he said.
