| It was a fascinating debate, in that Romney seemed to disarm Obama’s new attacks that he is a warmonger who would get the U.S. into more wars if elected. Romney could have gone on the attack about Libya, but probably didn’t to avoid giving the president an opening to recite well-rehearsed talking points about not politicizing a tragedy. Romney was very strong on Iran, and the president’s statements were simply false. Romney is right that Iran is four years closer to a nuclear weapon. The president’s claims that his administration led the international community

Full disclosure: I don't watch debates because they stress me out. So my husband watches and gives me periodic reports, and then I catch the highlights on video clips later.
It sounds like, in all 3 debates, Romney stepped back and allowed Obama to prove himself to be the arrogant, thin-skinned, petulant liar we all know him to be, someone armed with well-rehearsed one-liner quips. And Obama took the bait all 3 times, while Romney appeared in control, knowledgeable and presidential.

Obama War Room: Desperate Times
OBAMA: But I won! Chris Matthews said so. DAVID AXELROD: Romney still has Big Mo, sir. DAVID PLOUFFE: We did a snap telephone poll afterwards. 10% said they’d hold their noses and vote for you; 10% complained the aides were mean, the kids never visited, and the home smelled like disinfectant; and 80% were undecided but leaning Romney. JOE BIDEN: Let’s take a page outta Dolly Parton’s book and think outside the buxom, Chief. OBAMA: Outside the. . . ? BIDEN: Roil the GOPhers: ask Pelosi and Reid to cut ads sayin', ''We support Romney because we can work with him, because in four years Obama never gave us the time of day, because. ...'' OBAMA: I get it, Joe. BIDEN: Also, announce that your new ''Newspaper Relief Agency'' will grant funds to left-leaning rags that haven’t endorsed yet. OBAMA: Good! We can’t allow Democratic house organs to disappear simply because they’ve lost the public’s trust. BIDEN: And we’re still hemorrhagin’ older voters over ObamaCare, Boss. Tell the geezers that under ObamaCare, their pets are considered ''partners'' and eligible for coverage as dependents. OBAMA: That it? BIDEN: You were wishy-washy on Iran. Declare a boycott of Iran’s biggest export: pistachios. Smack ‘em in the nuts. And order the NSA to jam satellite broadcasts of Dancing with the Stars into Iran. AXELROD: Give it a week. If a U. N. team is not granted full access to their nuclear facilities, assume control of their entire broadcast network and show Fiddler on the Roof 24/7 until the mullahs cry uncle. OBAMA: You know, if I’m reelected, I wouldn't have to work hard. Yubby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dum.

I think it proves that Romney is a good strategist. He can out-think the opposition, and that's a good trait in a president. All Obama can do is read a teleprompter.

When it's a fact that your opponent is a proven liar, has failed to keep promises to his supporters, bows down to Islamics, ignores terrorism against our nation, dismisses military pleas and apologizes to the world for America's leadership, one only needs to stand back and let the idiot castrate himself. Romney did that well.

I find this new tactic of theirs fascinating. Ronald Reagan was accused of the same thing in 1980, and look how that turned out!
I can't believe the lefties are going back to this - it didn't work out so well for them then, and it won't now either. Do they think we're all more peacenik now?
Do they think, at all? Maybe they haven't noticed how many more wars are going on or have escalated now, directly and indirectly caused by their anti-war Boy Hero? Just because he says he's the greatest, doesn't mean he is.
I repeat: Do they think, at all? This election's RR is looking more and more like the RR past. And that's a very good thing.

Romney sidestepped at least one set up that I saw. Earlier this week there was an article about how the White House agreed to allow Iran to develop their Nuke program. In the discussion about Iran, Romney did not take the bait and bring it up. The moderator finally brought it up and allowed the Choomster to tell the audience it was a news article that was false. They were so disappointed Romney did not bring it up that they brought it up themselves.

''Attacking me is not a policy.'' I knew right then that Romney wasn't going to lay down and take it. Chris Matthews was all verklempt that Romney didn't turn out to be the ''Dick Cheney-like warmonger'' that they painted him all week. They have underestimated the Romney camp big time.
I see Bill O'Reilly is upset this morning that Bob Schieffer didn't hammer them on Libya to get answers. Tough noogies, Bill. We had bigger fish to fry. Obama appeared to have tight jaws and irritating eyes all night. Romney has a terrific poker face for someone who doesn't play poker.

I take issue with one point, #4. It's Barry, not Mitt, who has Big Mo. She's big alright, especially in the hips and posterior. She needs to lay off the french fries and Reeses's. Whether she sticks with Barry after he loses remains to be seen. If he can wrangle her a Senate seat like Bill did for Hillary, maybe she'll keep him.

First paragraph of this article sums it up well.
The O campaign thought their trump card would be portraying Romney as a "reckless warmonger."
This tactic was built into Obama's closing speech, in which O tried to label Romney as "reckless" and dangerous (which was funny, since during the debate, Romney came off as anything BUT reckless).
Just think: How many million$$ in pre-produced Obama campaign ads, built on the "Romney is a warmonger" theme, and set to be unleashed post-debate, have now been wasted?

No 21 Romney can't call Obvama a blankety blankety traitor even though he is, because we need more votes than we conservatives can supply. The satisfaction it would have given us would not have been worth losing votes of independents, young single women and disgruntied Democrats. Isn't Romney winning with his strategy? Let's be satisfied to trust his judgment.

BO is a serial lier and this should always be pointed out. Also our country is about to go over the cliff with its debts and despite that this was a Foreign Affairs debate this should have brought up.

Today, despite distractions proffered by the President and his media minions, many citizens are correctly focused on alarming scandals that serve to underscore how this administration has flouted the rule of law and abused the trust of the American people. These are very serious matters. They strike at the very core of our Constitutional system, revealing widespread corruption and the systematic politicization of federal law enforcement and regulation. Yet a related, not so obviously ominous, phenomenon also deserves our attention: the radical over-federalization of our lives and institutions. This now manifests itself in the view, common among our ruling elites,

While U.S. Rep. The former senator is easily the most popular Republican in Massachusetts, and could be the closer Gomez needs to pull off another special Senate election upset. But for some reason Gomez has chosen to campaign with Rudy Giuliani and John McCain instead, while consulting with Brown privately and getting some fundraising help. “Anything I’ve been asked to do I’ve done,”

WASHINGTON — A State Department whistleblower has accused high-ranking staff of a massive coverup — including keeping a lid on findings that members of then-Secretary Hillary Clinton’s security detail and the Belgian ambassador solicited prostitutes. A chief investigator for the agency’s inspector general wrote a memo outlining eight cases that were derailed by senior officials, including one instance of interference by Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl Mills. Any mention of the cases was removed from an IG report about problems within the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), which provides protection and investigates crimes involving any State Department workers overseas.

But alas, as it is, even a news junkie like myself didn’t know there were four separate EPA scandals going on until Gabriel Malor laid it out for me. You should follow him because he’s smart. Four simultaneous scandals is the most of any agency we’re talking about right now. It’s gonna take a lot more attention before the EPA is forced to clean house. More than a couple congressional letters, I would think, which is why I’m writing about it now.

"If you have something that you don´t want anyone to know," Google CEO Eric Schmidt said in 2009, "maybe you shouldn´t be doing it in the first place." This line was creepy enough coming from one of President Obama´s confidants and fundraisers. It takes on added weight now that the Washington Post and the Guardian have reported that the National Security Agency´s Prism program, in the days before Obama was sworn in, tapped into Google´s servers, gaining access to every message sent or received over Gmail. Google spokesmen, like spokesmen from all the tech companies, deny participating in any such program.

When a light was beamed into the shadowy corners of the NSA, the United States´ largest and perhaps least understood secret intelligence agency, the public did not see James Bond smiling back with a martini in hand. Instead, they saw a 29-year-old high school dropout, a security guard turned freelancer at consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton entrusted with the nation´s most guarded secrets. Ed Snowden, a government contractor, who last week blew the whistle on the secret data mining operation known as PRISM, is today in hiding. His last known whereabouts were a Hong Kong hotel.

In a Spanish-language interview Sunday with the network Univision, Sen. Marco Rubio, the leading Republican on the Gang of Eight comprehensive immigration reform group, made his strongest statement yet that legalization of the nation’s 11 million currently illegal immigrants must happen before any new border security or internal enforcement measures are in place, and will in no way be conditional on any security requirements. “Let’s be clear,” Rubio said. “Nobody is talking about preventing the legalization. The legalization is going to happen. That means the following will happen: First comes the legalization.

That didn’t take long. The official who leaked top-secret information about the National Security Agency’s surveillance programs to fight terrorism has now come forward in the pages of the Guardian to revel in his role “as one of America’s most consequential whistleblowers, alongside Daniel Ellsberg and Bradley Manning.” Edward Snowden is described as a 29-year-old high school dropout who worked (ironically) on computer security for the CIA before becoming a highly paid contractor at Booz Allen, making a reported $200,000 a year working for the National Security Agency in Hawaii. The Guardian story presents him as a martyr

(CHICAGO) There is a lot of reaction on WLS this morning to the identification of the man who leaked information last week, about the U.S. Government’s secret surveillance program, which allows the National Security Agency to monitor the phone calls and emails of Americans. Former U.S. Ambassador John Bolton told Bruce Wolf and Dan Proft on WLS that he thinks admitted leaker Edward Snowden, is guilty of treason: "Number one, this man is a liar. He took an oath to keep the secrets that were shared with him so he could do his job.

Mickey Kaus has produced an excellent, easy-to-use “pocket guide” to the reasons why the Schumer-Rubio immigration reform bill (S.744) is fraudulent. Kaus catalogues the provisions of the bill that promise tough future enforcement, etc. but don’t do what they pretend to do: “Multiple triggers” — Legalization is immediate. DHS just has to write border “plan.” The most any “triggers” can possibly do is delay green cards and citizenship. “90% effectiveness” — If not reached, triggers only toothless commission “Pay back taxes” — Only if already “assessed” by IRS (unlikely). Newly legalized may instead get refunds. “Learn English” — Only need to sign up

The New England Patriots will sign Tim Tebow, league sources told ESPN. The Patriots are signing Tebow, who is expected to participate in the team´s mandatory minicamp Tuesday, as a quarterback, according to sources. The move reunites Tebow with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was the Broncos' head coach when Denver traded into the first round to draft the Heisman Trophy winner in 2010. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick often has spoken with admiration for Tebow's versatility, intelligence and character. Belichick covets what he has described as tough, smart, versatile football players.

For several months, the Benghazi scandal lay dormant, apparently forgiven and forgotten. Then, inexplicably, it reared its ugly head when Congressmen Ron Johnson and Jason Chaffetz smelled Obama´s blood in the water. After feigning affliction with the flu, and then ostensibly tumbling down a carpeted stairwell resulting in an unconfirmed concussion, then-Secretary of State Clinton was finally forced to testify before Congress. Clinton´s desperate attempt to put the Benghazi scandal to rest with her now-infamous impassioned declaration -- "What difference, at this point, does it make?"

Washington - A self-described conservative Republican who is a manager in the Internal Revenue Service office that targeted tea party groups told investigators that he, not the White House, set the review in motion, the top Democrat on the House watchdog committee said Sunday. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., released a partial transcript of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform interview with the unnamed manager in the IRS' Cincinnati office. In it, the employee said the extra scrutiny for tea party groups' tax exempt status was an effort to be consistent

FRESNO, Calif. — On a warm spring day, farmworker Cristina Melendez was bedridden and unable to make her way back into the asparagus fields of central California for the kind of backbreaking work she´s done since childhood. The 36-year-old mother of seven was desperate. Her bank account had been at zero for months, the refrigerator was nearly empty, and she didn´t have enough to cover the rent. Lacking health insurance, Melendez couldn´t see a doctor or afford medication, so her illness dragged on — and another day came and went without work or pay. A native of Mexico

Edward Snowden should go to jail, as quickly and for as long as possible. This is a leak case that should be difficult for even Eric Holder to bungle. Snowden has already confessed in public to the crime of leaking classified information. He has said in public how he did it, that he did it with intent, and that he knowingly harmed our national security. Holder will finally find a leaker that he can prosecute. But given the Holder Justice Department’s record on the other leak cases, who wants to take a bet

The contradictions at the heart of the Obama presidency are finally out in the open. As a result, a man who came into office hellbent on restoring faith in government is on the verge of inspiring a libertarian revival. There have always been (at least) two Barack Obamas. There is the man who claims to be a nonideological problem-solver, keen on working with anybody to fix things. And there is The One: the partisan, left-leaning progressive-redeemer. (Snip) The dilemma for Obama is that neither is panning out because both incarnations rely on trust. The president never had much trust among

What happens next with the man responsible for leaking a trove of National Security Agency documents to the Guardian rests in the hands of two countries who could decide to send him back to the U.S. with express shipping, or to keep him as a global bargaining chip. Edward Snowden, a 29-year-old American defense contractor, revealed himself as the man responsible for the Guardian´s string of NSA leaks Sunday afternoon. Booz Allen confirmed he was an employee for the last three months. But, for now, he´s in a hotel in Hong Kong ordering room service and covering up
