Mitt Romney Thinks He's Won
The Election, And Tonight
He Just Played Not To Lose

Business Insider, by Grace Wyler

The final presidential debate is over, and Mitt Romney played it very safe. The Republican candidate has had a relatively unremarkable debate, devoid of any major flubs, but also lacking in memorable attack lines or zingers against President Barack Obama. Romney has missed several opportunities to hit his opponent head on, including on the issue of Libya, a flashpoint among conservatives and a rare area of vulnerability in the Obama administration's foreign policy. (Snip) This strategy may actually have beem the smartest choice for Romney, who has so far struggled to effectively attack his opponent's foreign policy record. In tonight's

Comments:
I'll say it. All in all, mostly boring. I expect that some initial viewers switched over to something else like the football or baseball games; also boring it seems. But 0bama made gave some whoppers again. A smaller navy no matter how sophisticated can't deploy to as many places and handle the world. 0bama denied his apology tour when the videos exist. 0bama couldn't explain why as president he never went to Israel (he'd be protested). I'm guessing this debate changed nothing.

Very boring, but EXACTLY what Mitt had to do....stay the course. No need to draw attention to the debate, just stay the course. People made up their minds and this did NOTHING to change it.

So now the dems will not have some gaffe, real or imagined, to play over and over until the election. While Romney on the other hand still can point out 0bama's foreign policy, domestic policy, and economic, flubs until Nov 6.

Romney looked and sounded Presidential. Obama did not. If you are a liberal you probably thought Obama was great. If you are not a liberal you saw a very defensive Obama who at times sounded like was whining. Scheiffer didn't want to be tomorrow's punching bag and wisely decided to keep his liberal mouth shut.

The debate changed nothing for me. Was just listening to Brit Hume on FOX commenting on 0bama's remarks about the military not using bayonets; a marine commented to FOX that they still use bayonets!

Obama sure did unleash his best stink eye on Romney tonight. That's a dirty look for you in the Northern states. He looked terribly unpresidential and he acted like a sarcastic teenager rather than an adult.

The split screen was not kind to him tonight.

Romney looked like the calm Commander in Chief.
Absolutely presidential.
Obama looked like some petty hot head.
A nasty cheap shot artist.
He was smirking again.
We saw a giant and a gnat tonight.

Great night to stay the course and not make any flubs. Which Mitt did. I bet the viewership is the lowest for this debate. Most people I know who are not into politics do not like the foreign policy discussions.

That sarcastic remark RE the Navy will not go over so well, either. My brother served on a nuclear sub and, obie, they call them BOATS, not SHIPS. There is a difference, you BOOB!!! A true CIC would know that, but you are only a pitiful community organizer who wasn't even raised in this country. You know NOTHING about the proud Military defending her shores. You don't have the right to even mention them. You haven't earned that right!!!

As much as I would have liked to see Mitt body-slam him on Libya, we all know that the full story will be on ice until after the election.
Semi-interested viewers tuning in took note right away that no fireworks would be forthcoming, so probably moved on to football, baseball, or some reality TV show re-run, being shown for the twelfth time.

Reply 16 - Posted by: gmoore, 10/22/2012 11:11:44 PM     (No. 8954179)

Mitt Romney had 3 things to accomplish in the foreign policy debate:

[1] state his positions on foreign policy, lay out his approach, and avoid any major gaffes. [2] draw out all comparisons between himself and President Obama, especially working with America's allies and concerning the Middle East and Iran. [3] push Obama into making false claims of success and flat-out lying about his positions on the Middle East and Iran, and get Obama on record with his lies.

Outcomes for Mitt: [1]success [2]success [3]success--Mission Accomplished! Everybody who watched the debate saw Romney as cool, controlled, Presidential. Obama looked p!ssed, perplexed, mad, and spinning in every direction--not at all Presidential. Even the moderator's interruptions couldn't save Obama from his mean-spirited glares while Romney presented his responses. Mitt even got in a few memorable lines that will show up on the campaign trail up to the election.

Expect to see a barrage of new Romney ads that fact-check the living sh!t out of Obama's claims, laying out his debate claims tonight side-by-side against the reality of his failures.

Every attempt by the LSM to crow about this debate as an Obama win is just spin. Obama has no foreign policy successes.

Obama seemed more like the challenger instead of the current President of US!

Romney was calm, cool and collected. He acted like he was able to accomplish anything needed to safeguard this country.

Now to the polls! Time to vote and experience the change we need, an America united and able to go forward.

We have experienced more racial problems in the last years than ever before and more unemployment as well as crimes.

Vote for Romney and then support him as he turns this country around!

In the meantime, we have millions unemployed, with food and fuel prices significantly higher under Obummer's "lead from behind" baloney.
What's there to get excited about in this debate?

I'm with #19. It was ugly as hell tonight. It's a tie ball game and we've got first and goal with 1 minute to go. Romney punts! Not entirely his fault. What kind of lunatic agrees to an exclusive foreign policy debate with a sitting CIC? A CIC who ordered the raid to wack our #1 enemy. Meanwhile we've got 16 trillion in debt and 19% not fully participating in work force. Yeah, lets not talk about that. lets make this election about Benghazi! Way to go stupid party.

Last night's debate gave us a clear picture of how a man who's never been questioned, challenged, or corrected responds when he is questioned, challenged or corrected...and it's not pretty. The POTUS thinks worship/adoration/agreement are the only appropriate responses when he opens his mouth. He is wrong. And untruthful. And mean. And petulant. And shrill. And hopefully, done. Very done. America has suffered enough abuse from this president.

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

The Obama and Romney campaigns may be gearing up for a very late night, with one Obama campaign adviser predicting that in Florida alone, "they'll be counting until 2 a.m." The Obama adviser said signs suggest the race is quite tight, though the campaign claimed to be "holding strong" in key battlegrounds like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The adviser also said turnout among black voters in Virginia was better than expected, suggesting that could be a problem for Mitt Romney. Republican operatives in Virginia, though, predicted a razor-thin victory for their candidate in the state.

Washington - Early returns on Tuesday in what is anticipated to be a dead even presidential election contained no surprises, as CNN projected President Barack Obama will win his home state of Illinois and eight other races while Republican challenger Mitt Romney will win nine states. All races called so far went as expected after the roller-coaster ride of an election campaign that was buffeted by a superstorm and missteps on both sides. Obama and Romney ran dead even in final polls that hinted at a result rivaling some of the closest presidential elections in history, reflecting the deep political

In Ohio, the former Massachusetts governor takes 56 percent of self-identified independents, compared with 40 percent for President Barack Obama. That’s a huge decrease for Obama from 2008, when the exit polls found him winning independents in Ohio by 12 points, 52 percent to 44 percent for John McCain. The numbers are similar but slightly tighter in Virginia: Romney takes 53 percent of independents there, according to ABC News exit polls, a 12-point lead over Obama.
