Will you watch the debate, the Cardinals, both or neither?

| I have watched every minute of the first two presidential debates. And I had planned to watch every minute of the third one -- until the Cardinals lost on Sunday night, forcing a game 7 of the National League Championship Series. Are you torn for tonight's TV choices, or is it simple for you? Will you flip to the debate between innings, or watch the debate and catch up on the game later? TV ratings for the Cardinal games have been strong, and St. Louis is a baseball town.

Since I live in St. Louis and I'm a huge Cardinals fan, there's no way I'd miss Game 7. Most of the BS from the debate will be discussed later and I can catch all of the important stuff without listening to and looking at Barry Zero.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of conservatives in California (just not nearly enough of them). There are even more of them in the California diaspora which has fled the state over the past decade as economic refugees. I can assure you, the GAME is vastly more important. Let's Go Giants!! Watch the stupefying debate on www.c-span.org the next day!

# 1... I am from St. Louis. I have told my wife I get angry when I listen to Obama lie at the debates.
I will watch the game...and will watch Fox's analysis after the debate to see how our man Romney did. Gonna be a lot of back and forth as the analysis of the debate will take place right around the time near the end of the game that the Cardinals decide it is time to score a bunch of runs and win the game.
I am hoping for a couple of winners tonight.
And by the way... our country..the White House let our people in Benghazi to die...they made certain there was no calvary coming to the rescue. I watched Bret Baier's well done piece on what happened on 9-11-12 and was very very angry at Obama and his cowards... who would let people die rather than try to rescue them.
And Obama's people say they didn't want to offend the Libyans. Hmmmm... going over Pakistani airspace didn't stop Obama when he thought it would help him get Osama not did it?

Richard Pollack at the Washington Examiner reports on a painless way to handle sequester costs -- cut out the unnecessary duplicative federal programs: Duplicative drug abuse and treatment services are strewn over 76 federal programs. Housing services are spread across 20 different agencies. Renewable energy projects go through 23 federal agencies and 130 sub-agencies. Even federal catfish inspections are done by three different agencies. These are only a few of 162 examples identified by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, a congressional watchdog agency, of fragmented, duplicative federal programs and services.

It’s the second meeting Obama has had with Senate Republicans — and one with different optics that his first meeting, which took place at the opulent Jefferson Hotel. The White House said Obama picked up the dinner tab and paid for it with his own money. Earlier on Tuesday, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus suggested the second dinner not be at an expensive restaurant. “Instead of eating out as the president and senators did last month, I suggest they eat in,”

The exceedingly messy lawsuit between Arthur “Terry” Newmyer and Sidwell Friends School is headed for trial—and the circle of high-profile Washingtonians wrapped up in the case is expanding. At a hearing last week, DC Superior Court judge Michael Rankin set a trial date of November 18, 2013. Newmyer first filed suit against Sidwell and its former psychologist in May 2011. He claims the psychologist had an affair with his wife while treating his daughter, then five, and that Sidwell took “flagrant and outrageous actions” that allowed the “open sexual relationship.” For Sidwell—an elite private school in DC

WASHINGTON- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says he wants U.S. military law changed so senior commanders can´t overturn courts-martial verdicts in major crimes such as rape. Hagel said the Pentagon´s top lawyers would prepare legislation for Congress that would strip commanders´ power to toss out convictions, "except for certain minor offenses that would not ordinarily warrant trial by court-martial." Convicted defendants still would be able to appeal their cases. But in a move berated by advocacy groups for military sexual-assault victims, Hagel also said he would recommend commanders retain the power to alter courts-martial sentences,

If presidential politics ever involved time travel, President Obama might be in a little trouble. If an election between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama were held today, 58% would vote for Reagan over Obama, according to a survey of 1,000 Americans age 18 and older conducted by Kelton Research for the National Geographic Channel. Though when the field is narrowed to people ages 18-34 -- those either too young to have known Reagan as president or too young to remember much -- the gap shrinks to 51% in favor of Reagan.

With all due respect to Mother Jones´s conversation-leaker-in-chief David Corn, the recordings published today of a conversation between Sen. Mitch McConnell and some consultants disparaging Ashley Judd is not news. It´s the sausage being made. We´ve got full background here, but the toplines are this: Corn got hold of a conversation apparently recorded during a presentation by consultants to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell´s reelection campaign. The consultants were opposition researchers, hired by the campaign to ferret out damaging information about actress Ashley Judd, who at one point considered running against McConnell.

As he continues guiding the Senate toward eventual consideration of proposals to curb gun violence, Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) invoked his father’s suicide Tuesday as he once again pleaded with Republicans not to block legislation under consideration. During his morning remarks on the Senate floor, Reid recalled receiving a 12-gauge shotgun ordered from a Sears catalog for his 12th birthday and made reference to incidents of gun violence in his home state of Nevada, including the 2010 shooting at a Las Vegas federal building. He also noted that as a young state legislator, he sponsored a bill

The president will appear at a cozy reception for fewer than 65 guests with tickets priced at $32,400 per couple at the Manhattan home of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and his designer wife Georgina Chapman on May 13, Page Six has exclusively learned. The invitation explains attendees get “a frank and intimate discussion with the president” where they can ask questions, and afterward Obama will “say thank you to each guest and take a photo with them.” A Weinstein-hosted fundraiser in August brought out

A homeless man, oblivious to President Obama’s passing motorcade, took BB gun practice in the nearby woods and refused to drop his weapon when confronted by Connecticut cops, officials said today. Obama was speaking yesterday at the University of Hartford when police, stationed along the president’s route to Bradley International Airport, heard noises coming from a nearby wooded area around 5:50 p.m., said Bloomfield police Capt. Stephen Hajdasz. A detective from the neighboring town of Simsbury ordered the man — identified as 27-year-old Joseph Stravinskas — to drop what appeared to be a rifle, according to Hajdasz.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
