The only negative thing I could say about Susan Boyle is that I wish she would be a bit more forceful in taking control of her career. She has a gorgeous voice, and the best thing I've ever heard her sing was a simple cover of "Cry Me A River," cut for a charity record for her church before she ever became famous.
Since then, Simon Cowell or whoever is in charge of her records has made her sing nothing but tuneless "inspirational" glop, buried in oceans of strings and children's choruses to the point where you can barely hear her. I was especially disappointed in her Christmas album, which could have been beautiful if she'd just been allowed to sing Christmas songs in a straightforward way.
Is it too much to ask that at least once, she be put in the hands of a producer who actually has good taste and restraint and respect for her talent? Get rid of all the overproduction and audio cotton candy and let us hear the woman's voice!

When she sang with Donnie Osmond a couple weeks ago on Dancing With The Stars, she was visibly nervous. Donnie came to her rescue in such a touching way, held her hand to help her get over it. He's been her idol for a long time, according to a bio I saw. I want her Christmas CD. Love her voice. Feh on those who criticize her for not being ''pop'' enough for them or for sticking to her plain roots.

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
