McCain voters defecting to
Obama are older white males

Reuters, by Gabriel Debenedetti

In today's highly polarized political environment it is somewhat surprising to find voters who backed John McCain in 2008 and now support President Barack Obama, but they exist. Roughly 5 percent of respondents in Reuters/Ipsos polls said they chose the Republican contender in 2008 and will switch to Obama in 2012. This number peaked at around 9 percent two separate times over the summer, according to data collected since January. Who are these defectors? Jeff Waltrip, 56, is a retired electrician and retail worker who has voted Republican all his life. But in his view Obama

Comments:
Riiiight. Sounds like the ''Republicans'' who call into C-Span. They say they have vote 'R' for decades, but then spew-out all the Democrat talking points.

Here comes the desperation crapola from the usual sources for the final push. I wouldn't be surprised if the authors of these pieces of stuff are names from the former Journolist exposed by Breitbart. I've already found at least one Reuters writer who was on that list: Felix Salmon.. Where there's one there are apt to be others.

OK. First, this is Reuters. And second, how many former old white men do we think they interviewed...three, maybe four?

I doubt I will lose sleep over this one.

Being an older white male and knowing a lot of other old white males and quite a few old black males.....I have not encountered any who intend to vote for obama.

I got a polling call the other day. It was automated. At the end of it, their information would tell them that they had just polled an African American male, age 18-24, a Muslim, who voted for McCain in 08 and was voting for Romney this time.

I wanted their data to look a bit more interesting. Why should the poll takers be bored, was my generous thought.

Since HW Bush was mentioned in the article and here, lets not forget he was no friend of gun owners. As a senator he voted for the 1968 gun control act. As president he "temporarily" outlawed the importation of any gun worth owning, then made it permanent when nobody was looking. He frequently used magazine capacity as a bargaining chip with congress. Plus, the "jack booted thugs" from the ATF we all remember so well operated with impunity during his time in office.
Not a big difference between him and BJ from what I can see.

Roughly, only half are male and only a third are over age 55. Article says 72 percent are white. Does that mean that the remaining 28% are people of color who voted for the white guy over the black messiah? I find that hard to believe. In fact the whole article defies reality.

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

CHICAGO — Acclaimed film critic Roger Ebert said he´s been diagnosed with cancer again and that he will scale back his prolific writing of movie reviews while undergoing radiation treatment. In a blog post, the 70-year-old said he´ll take a "leave of presence." "I am not going away," the ailing Pulitzer Prize winner wrote in a note posted late Tuesday. "My intent is to continue to write selected reviews but to leave the rest to a talented team of writers. ... What´s more, I´ll be able at last to do what I´ve always fantasized about doing: reviewing only the movies

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Amid all of the very real threats of war and stuff from North Korea, you´d think American intelligence officers want as much video footage of the enemy as possible. Well, here is one video featuring North Korean exercises and Kim Jong-Un holding a gun, and we´ll say this: they certainly get points for presentation. Remember the clap-happy report from Dennis Rodman´s diplomatic basketball vacation? This video comes courtesy of the same Youtube channel that gave us that Rodman video. It appears to be the same state news channel.(Snip for video)This latest dispatch from North Korea´s state television
