McCain voters defecting to
Obama are older white males

Reuters, by Gabriel Debenedetti

Original Article

In today's highly polarized political environment it is somewhat surprising to find voters who backed John McCain in 2008 and now support President Barack Obama, but they exist. Roughly 5 percent of respondents in Reuters/Ipsos polls said they chose the Republican contender in 2008 and will switch to Obama in 2012. This number peaked at around 9 percent two separate times over the summer, according to data collected since January. Who are these defectors? Jeff Waltrip, 56, is a retired electrician and retail worker who has voted Republican all his life. But in his view Obama

Riiiight. Sounds like the ''Republicans'' who call into C-Span. They say they have vote 'R' for decades, but then spew-out all the Democrat talking points.

Here comes the desperation crapola from the usual sources for the final push. I wouldn't be surprised if the authors of these pieces of stuff are names from the former Journolist exposed by Breitbart. I've already found at least one Reuters writer who was on that list: Felix Salmon.. Where there's one there are apt to be others.

I doubt I will lose sleep over this one.

I got a polling call the other day. It was automated. At the end of it, their information would tell them that they had just polled an African American male, age 18-24, a Muslim, who voted for McCain in 08 and was voting for Romney this time.

I wanted their data to look a bit more interesting. Why should the poll takers be bored, was my generous thought.

I'm an older White male with a lot of older White male friends. Most of us held our nose and voted for McCain because no matter how uninspiring McCain was, the alternative with Obama the Marxist was sooooo much worse. No comparison - Not even close!
If anything the Obamboozler has lost voters from every demographic since 2008 and four years of nothing but policies that have made our situation only worse. If you voted for the Obamboozler in 2008 you got suckered. If you vote for the Benghazi Bullshirter in 2012, yer just plain stupid.

Since HW Bush was mentioned in the article and here, lets not forget he was no friend of gun owners. As a senator he voted for the 1968 gun control act. As president he "temporarily" outlawed the importation of any gun worth owning, then made it permanent when nobody was looking. He frequently used magazine capacity as a bargaining chip with congress. Plus, the "jack booted thugs" from the ATF we all remember so well operated with impunity during his time in office.
Not a big difference between him and BJ from what I can see.

Roughly, only half are male and only a third are over age 55. Article says 72 percent are white. Does that mean that the remaining 28% are people of color who voted for the white guy over the black messiah? I find that hard to believe. In fact the whole article defies reality.

The mythical creature, which legend says kills goats and other cattle, has never been proven to exist, but many people have often claimed to have hunted the animal of which there are many different descriptions. WASHINGTON - As the first Obamacare enrollment period comes to a close, U.S. insurers are already anticipating the need to raise prices for 2015 and fear that it will put them at the center of the political blame game over President Barack Obama´s healthcare law. The Obama administration declared victory on Tuesday over signing up more than 7 million people for this year, overcoming technology failures that stymied enrollment in the program´s early weeks and Republican efforts to discredit it in the eyes of consumers. But insurers have already said that the first group of new enrollees under Obamacare, as

A college student visiting Colorado for spring break fell to his death after eating marijuana cookies in what´s believed to be the first publicized fatality linked to pot since its legalized sale in January. Levy Thamba, a 19-year-old exchange student at Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., had just eaten the pot-laced treats with friends last month when he became "very agitated and upset" and ran off a fourth floor hotel balcony, according to the Denver Coroner´s Office. Three of Thamba´s friends, who said it was the first time any of them had consumed marijuana, said one of them had purchased

MOSCOW — Even as American and Russian diplomats groped toward a settlement that would halt further Russian military intervention in Ukraine, Gazprom, the Russian energy company, stepped up the economic pressure on Tuesday by sharply raising the price it charges for natural gas. Gazprom, a state-controlled gas exporter, raised the price to $385 for 1,000 cubic meters of gas, the standard measure used in gas deals in Europe, from $268, an increase of 44 percent. The price increase follows what analysts say is a long practice at Gazprom of punitive pricing for countries in the former Soviet Union and Eastern

April Fool´s Day is a holiday where people play pranks on each other all across the world. It has been celebrated since the Roman times and millions enjoy an elaborate hoax on April 1. Pranksters have thought of ingenuous ways of getting one over on their clueless victims. The joke could be as innocent as putting a plastic spider in someone´s tea or fooling the world a fairy has been found. And when the punchline finally hits home there´s always somebody around sniggering "Fail!" under their breath. Here are our favourite April Fool´s Day pranks. Enjoy! In 1980 the BBC

Russia set out a series of tough conditions on Sunday night for agreeing a diplomatic solution to the crisis over its annexation of Crimea, demanding that the US and its European partners accept its proposal that ethnic Russian regions of eastern and southern Ukraine be given extensive autonomous powers independent of Kiev. Emergency talks between Sergei Lavrov, Russia´s foreign minister, and John Kerry, the US secretary of state, got under way at the Russian ambassador´s residence in Paris after a day in which tensions over Ukraine deepened appreciably. Neither man made any substantive comment before the talks began. Suggesting it

The Sultan of Brunei, one of the world’s wealthiest rulers and a close ally of Britain, will this week oversee his country’s transition to a system of Islamic law with punishments that include flogging, the dismemberment of limbs and stoning to death. The 67-year-old absolute monarch declared last year that he wanted to introduce a full sharia system in his oil-rich nation and warned critics who took to social media sites to complain that they could be prosecuted using the new laws. The decision to introduce sharia and reintroduce the death penalty has been condemned by NGOs and legal rights

Kiev, Ukraine -- Both Kiev and Washington say that Russian forces are massing in large numbers near Ukraine´s eastern border -- and that they represent a threat to Ukraine and potentially to other former Soviet states. It´s hard to pin down an exact figure, amid a welter of different views, but the U.S. and Ukraine agree the number of Russian soldiers present is rising fast. (Snip) The 30,000-plus troops on the border are "significantly more" than what is needed for the "exercises" Russia says it has been conducting, and there is no sign they are making any move to return

The State Department has no idea what happened to $6 billion used to pay its contractors. In a special “management alert” made public Thursday, the State Department’s Inspector General Steve Linick warned “significant financial risk and a lack of internal control at the department has led to billions of unaccounted dollars over the last six years. The alert was just the latest example of the federal government’s continued struggle with oversight over its outside contractors. The lack of oversight “exposes the department to significant financial risk,” the auditor said. “It creates conditions conducive to fraud, as corrupt individuals may attempt

In his opening statement during highly anticipated testimony Wednesday on Benghazi, former CIA deputy director Michael Morell claimed to be an intelligence professional who was willing to lay out the facts -- no matter how damaging. "I take very seriously the allegations about how the CIA in general and about how I in particular handled the analysis and the talking points," Morell told the House Intelligence Committee, in his first public testimony on the Benghazi attacks. "The ethical code under which intelligence officers carry out their responsibilities calls for total objectivity." But Morell´s own testimony would appear to undercut that

Earlier this week on Boston’s WRKO-AM’s The Howie Carr Show, conservative commentator Ann Coulter shocked some conservatives when she said she is making 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney her favorite for the 2016 Republican contest. Last month in an interview on CBS’s Face the Nation, Romney himself ruled out the possibility of a 2016 run and said he was instead focused on who to get behind in that contest. Coulter, however, wishes otherwise. “Well, don´t tell him but I´m planning on giving Mitt Romney a little more time to rest -- flying out, kidnapping him and depriving him of sleep, food and

A 54-year-old white man has been left barely clinging to life after he was brutally beaten by a group of black men when he got out of his car to check on a young black boy he accidentally hit. Big changes could be just down the road for North Carolina drivers. A proposal is in the works that would change the state tax system to charge drivers by the mile, instead of at the gas pump. The proposal would be to charge a half cent per mile for cars, which would generate almost $500 million in annual state revenue. A driver who travelled 15,000 miles in a year would pay about $75. "Basically you pay per the mile. It´s treating transportation as a utility, much like your water and sewer," said Larry Goode, with the Institute of Transportation Research and

Do you think members of Congress are overpaid or underpaid? Most likely you’d go with the former, but Democratic congressman Jim Moran argues it’s actually the latter. In an interview with CQ Roll Call, Moran says, “I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid.” The House recently took up a bill to freeze members’ paychecks, placing another halt on the annual cost-of-living pay increases they would normally get and keeping annual salary at $174,000. Moran believes that this is the wrong way to go, not necessarily talking about himself in particular, but saying there

According to a report via BuzzFeed’s Evan McMorris-Santoro, President Barack Obama requested the opportunity to address the nation in prime time on the major broadcast networks on Tuesday night to announce that the Affordable Care Act had reached 7 million enrollees. Those networks did not, however, accommodate the White House’s request. “Three sources familiar with the request confirmed the White House asked for the prime time slot in their effort both to emphasize a bright moment following the challenging roll out and, more important, to try to reintroduce the country to a law that remains unpopular,”

President Barack Obama contended that the government did not “make a hard sell” for Obamacare, despite his administration spending nearly $700 million to promote the law. “We didn’t make a hard sell,” Obama said in the Rose Garden on Tuesday, praising the 7.1 million sign ups for the Affordable Care Act. “We didn’t have billions of dollars of commercials like some critics did.” However, last July the Associated Press reported that Obamacare’s marketing campaign would cost at least $684 million. Taxpayer funding went to all 50 states in efforts to encourage people to enroll, including nearly $28 million for the

Attorney General Eric Holder disputed a Government Accountability Office report on his use of Justice Department airplanes for personal trips, saying it overstated the number of trips he took and failed to recognize that some trips were job-related. "My staff keeps telling me to take it easy, you know, well, this is one that gets me," Holder told Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing. "There was this notion that we´ve taken -- I think it was described as hundreds of personal trips. That was wrong. GAO counted flights, not round trips. And we looked at it
