| Saturday evening, via Emerson Marcus and with the Associated Press contributing, the Reno Gazette-Journal, which I hope doesn't try to describe itself as a family newspaper, published an irony-free a 500-word story (HT to a NewBusters tipster) on an appearance by Sandra Fluke earlier in the day "in front of about 10 people at the Sak ‘N Save in north Reno." You can't make this stuff up. The story is currently the "Most Popular" at the paper's rgj.com home page. The Gazette-Journal seems to have been determined to hype Fluke's appearance no matter what so it could

During the 2008 democratic primary, Chelsea Clinton began with big crowds as she campaigned for Hillary, but near the end of hillary's campaign, Chelsea would have been happy to draw ten people.

Atheists are outraged that a Bible sits right next to the mayor’s desk, inside a Pinellas Park City Council chamber, and they’re demanding its removal. City officials, however, say that’s a no-go. The Bible’s been there for more than 30 years, and laws don’t prohibit its presence, The Blaze reported. The book was an Oct. 19, 1975, gift to council members from the Kiwanis club, and it’s been a traditional fixture ever since. Freedom From Religion Foundation officials say they don’t care. They sent a letter to city officials, saying the Bible needs to go because it violates

Cheryl Mills, who served in a dual capacity in recent years as general counsel and chief of staff to Mrs. Clinton as secretary of state, was accused of attempting to stifle congressional access to a diplomat who held a senior post in Libya at the time of the attack. WASHINGTON - D.C. police have been warning bicyclists since March not to ride the Metropolitan Branch Trail alone. And they stepped up patrols on the trail then too. But it didn´t stop a group of teenagers from knocking a 37-year-old Silver Spring man off his bike Tuesday and savagely beating him. Runner Ben Miles was stopped in his tracks by the aftermath. "There were lots of police cars, a fire engine, an ambulance, and there was a guy sitting over there next to the wall, and his face was covered in blood.

The Black Forest fire raging northeast of Colorado Springs is now the most destructive in Colorado State history. El Paso County Sheriffy Terry Maketa said at least 360 homes are complete losses and another 14 already damaged, pushing the damage past the record set by last year´s Waldo Canyon fire which destroyed 347 homes. The fire has now burned 15,000 acres. Continuing difficult conditions kept firefighters from containing the blaze, with little prospect for containment anticipated on Thursday. Maketa said efforts were being concentrated on stopping the west and northwest movement,

At a Thursday press conference, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi condemned a bill that would prohibit abortions during the final four months of pregnancy with exceptions for when the life or physical health of the mother was at stake. Asked what the moral difference is between what Dr. Kermit Gosnell did to babies born alive and aborting those same infants moments before birth, Pelosi refused to answer. "As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this," Pelosi said. "This shouldn´t have anything to do with politics."

Roger Ailes, the chairman and architect of the Fox News Channel, picked up a $250,000 award from a conservative foundation Wednesday night at the Kennedy Center, and served up some red meat to the largely conservative crowd gathered to honor him. The prize came from the Milwaukee-based Bradley Foundation, which honored Ailes and three others with its 10th annual Bradley Prize for promoting public policies consistent with the foundation’s conservative mission (the group’s goals include school choice, welfare reform and limited government). Ailes delighted the full house by slamming President Obama, and liberals in general, in his acceptance speech.

HONOLULU- Sisterhood is indeed powerful, at least when it comes to pole dancers. Attendance was sparse at the Waikiki Acrobatic Troupe’s regular Wednesday night workout. The open practice in a dingy exercise studio at University of Hawaii, Manoa, can get upward of 60 performers. But this week was different.(Snip) "The pole dancers said they’re not coming tonight,” said Richard Criley, one of the founders of the 39-year-old acrobatic troupe, as he prepared to practice his handstands in the near-empty Studio 4. “They are not showing up out of respect for her.”

He showed the English-language daily documents that allegedly chronicled his hacking claims. “Last week the American government happily operated in the shadows with no respect for the consent of the governed, but no longer,”

Rep. Jeff Duncan wants to know why IRS law enforcement agents are training with AR-15 rifles. As chairman of the House Homeland Security oversight subcommittee, Duncan (R-S.C.) toured a federal law enforcement facility in late May and noticed agents training with the semi-automatic weapons at a firing range. They identified themselves as IRS, he said.“When I left there, it’s been bugging me for weeks now, why IRS agents are training with a semi-automatic rifle AR-15, which has stand-off capability,” Duncan told POLITICO. “Are Americans that much of a target that you need that kind of capability?”

His latest take: It´s an unfair question, he said, like "When are you going to stop beating your wife?" And it seems to depend on the meaning of "collect." WASHINGTON — The State Department has hired an alarming number of law-enforcement agents with criminal or checkered backgrounds because of a flawed hiring process, a stunning memo obtained by The Post reveals. The background problems are severe enough that many of the roughly 2,000 agents in State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security can play only limited roles in agency efforts to police bad conduct and prosecute wrongdoers. The problems in the bureau are the latest revelation in an exploding scandal that also involves accusations that members of former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s security detail

On Friday, a gunman opened fire on the school’s campus in the state of California, killing six people, including the gunman. She said she does “worry about” the failure of the legislation after the Sandy Hook shooting last year, but knows that gun-control supporters “never give up.”

In a Gallup tracking poll released Tuesday, former-President George W. Bush currently stands with a favorability rating of 49%, compared to 46% who see the 43rd president unfavorably. Meanwhile, another Gallup poll shows President Obama with only a 47% approval rating, with 44% disapproving. If you think about it, this makes perfect sense. After all, Obama fooled everyone when he ran as the anti-Bush in 2008. Everyone thought Obama meant he would be less hawkish than his predecessor. But as we have seen, Obama apparently has no problem killing American citizens

Franks made the comment during a committee mark-up of his late-term abortion ban bill, which is expected pass the House next week. The Republican lawmaker was arguing against a Democratic amendment allowing rape and incest victims to procure abortions. As written, the bill only exempts women whose lives are in danger.
