The man on a mission
to debunk Obama 'myth'

Agence France-Presse, by Rory Mulholland

Paris - He did nothing for African-Americans, left the poor even poorer, his health care reform was a step backwards, and he may yet let another financial disaster erupt on his watch. In short, Barack Obama squandered the huge wave of goodwill that gave the United States its first black president, argues the president and publisher of the high-brow and left-leaning US magazine Harper's. John R. MacArthur has been making those points all week as he tours Paris to promote his new French-language book "L'Illusion Obama" that seeks to puncture the myths about the man who was awarded the Nobel

The right hates Obama for spending too much and the left for not spending enough.Money is materialism in concentrated form. You could spend trillions more on "helping" people and still fail because money doesn't address who the core person is.There's plenty of low income, low materialistic people in this country that are grateful for what they have and therefore aren't malcontents.

Eliminating poverty with free money is an asinine a theory that anyone has ever come up with.

Obama is addicted to money ether personally or politically because he's been brainwashed into thinking money solves all problems. That's the Chicago way.

You have Obama operatives all over the world giving people money to donate as he falls further behind in the polls.

At the same time he's conducted a war on republican owned business, figuring it'll hurt their donations.I don't think republicans have raised as much gross money as they have this cycle.

While extending the payroll tax cut through the end of last year, members of Congress last fall took what many feel was a long overdue whack at the cost of their retirement plan. They bumped up the rate at which federal employees contribute to their pension plan, saving an estimated $15 billion over the next 11 years. They also made sure that none of the increase applied to themselves. Anyone in service before the law went into effect would pay into the pension plan at the old rate. Mindful of the repeated rounds of cuts the military has already endured, Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, recently delivered a grim warning: "If you want [the military] to be doing what it´s doing today, then we can´t give you another dollar." His worries reflect reductions that started in 2009 and have reached crippling levels, even in President Obama´s proposals to avert sequestration. I take the general at his word, but I am concerned that the president does not. Sequester hurts national security, not just because 50% of the cuts fall on the military´s 18% share of the overall

A Texas high school student has filed a federal lawsuit against her school and her teachers after she was punished for refusing to salute and recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance. The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit on behalf of Brenda Brinsdon alleging the McAllen Independent School District violated the 15-year-old girl’s constitutional rights when she was forced to recite the Mexican pledge and sing the Mexican national anthem. Brinsdon, who is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and an American father, refused. She believed it was un-American to pledge a loyalty oath to

A new global campaign to persuade nations to ban "killer robots" before they reach the production stage is to be launched in the UK by a group of academics, pressure groups and Nobel peace prize laureates. Robot warfare and autonomous weapons, the next step from unmanned drones, are already being worked on by scientists and will be available within the decade, said Dr Noel Sharkey, a leading robotics and artificial intelligence expert and professor at Sheffield University.
