| Participation in this year’s Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk for breast cancer across metro Atlanta is noticeably down because of the recent controversy involving grants to Planned Parenthood, organizers said. There are 1,550 walkers this year — 850 fewer than this time last year, organizers told Channel 2 Action News. Earlier this month, the Archdiocese of Atlanta directed its parishes, missions and schools to end support for activities related to Komen for the Cure and criticized grants given by some Komen affiliates to Planned Parenthood because of that organization’s role as an abortion

PP doesn't do mammograms. They do a clinical breast exam. If you want a mammogram they will refer you to a facility.
The Komen Foundation is just another in a long line of "awareness" and "cure this" organizations that primarily benefit the people who run the organizations.

At some point, know matter how good the cause, you don't want to be badgered and manipulated into supporting it. I think Komen will go the way of the AIDS ribbons campaigns - gradually fade away when some knew cause is all the rage.

This breast cancer survivor will not walk, will not sponsor a walker, will never give another penny to Susan G. Komen.
I read yesterday that the FDA stated Planned Parenthood does not have a license any where in the country to perform mammograms.
While I was in treatment for breast cancer, a "friend" (I no longer speak with) asked me--in all sincerity--if I had ever had an abortion because her minister said, "Abortions cause breast cancer."

I should send this to the Dallas diocese, when my sons' Catholic high school sent me an email asking for volunteers to clean up a Komen event, I was told "the diocese doesn't take a position on our schools supporting it, it's up to each school"! This was from the Diocese's superintendent!

I really sympathize with all victims of breast cancer, however, heart disease kills more women every year than breast cancer.
Where are the marches for heart disease, what color ribbon do I wear?

New York — Federal mortgage payment relief has been extended up to one year for more than 200,000 homeowners whose houses were damaged by Superstorm Sandy. U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced the extension for homeowners with Federal Housing Administration-insured loans on Friday. A previous mortgage payment extension for federally-backed home loans was set to expire on April 30. About 286,000 homeowners with FHA-insured loans were affected by the late October storm, with nearly 96,000 in New York. Donovan said the 12-month extension was meant to help homeowners still struggling to rebuild avoid foreclosure.

The Navy’s cancellation of Blue Angels 2013 air shows extends past the federal fiscal year ending in September means the November 1-2 Homecoming Show at Pensacola Naval Air Station has been scrapped too. “It’s not just the fiscal year,” said Navy Lt. While the media are bearing the brunt of public skepticism over the handling of the Boston bombing, the behavior of government is also eroding public trust. Yesterday´s promised but cancelled news briefing is just one symptom.
