MANCHESTER, N.H. — President Obama can make all the jokes he want about Mitt Romney’s “binders,” but Obama’s the one in the bind. He’s tossed everything and the kitchen sink at Romney. He’s even thrown in Big Bird. Now he’s calling Mitt “sketchy” — a term women use to describe men who give them the willies. But scare tactics and one-liners won’t work anymore. Romney’s impressive performance in the first debate, and mostly solid showing in the second, has rendered Obama’s attacks mostly ineffectual. Even Obama’s perceived gift in this week’s debate — moderator Candy Crowley “fact-checking”
Yesterday I was making a fall flower arrangement and the radio was on in the background the sound turned way down. At one point I could hear this male(?) voice yelling in a hoarse voice one word over and over again. I leaned over and turned it up and I had no idea who it was and what word they were yelling. It wasn't until the news person came back on and continued to talk about the current news story. The person bleating and ranting in the background was Obama and he was yelling Romnesia! Romnesia! Romnesia! Good Lord he sounded demented! And the crowd in the background was neither picking up his yell nor cheering very loudly. I heard that same news *byte* a couple more times later on and I honestly think obama is losing it. No Drama Obama has apparently left the building.
I read a short piece earlier this morning about how flat an Obama statement about "Al-Qaeda is on the run" fell with a rally crowd in NH. What he thought would be an applause line was met with silence.

FTA: ''We don’t have to order up some binders to find qualified, talented, driven young women who can learn and excel in these fields right now,'' Obama said.
It’s a good line, ....
It is NOT a good line - it's s stupid line. This isn't the 60s or the era of desperate housewives (despite what Eva Longoria thinks) - we litigated all this decades ago. We've come a long way, baby!
All the Democrat attack lines have been moronic. They really do think everybody in America is as dumb as the people they know personally - and their core constituency.
The only thing they've come up with since the git-go that I thought was even slightly clever was/is Romnesia.... that's kinda cute. Stupid of course, but cute. Try to picture their campaign-Axelrod brain trust sitting around in a room coming up with this stuff......
This man is becoming pathetic...he has no facts or substance to use in his campaign and so he just makes stupid jokes and throws ad hominem attacks at his opponent. It would be really sad and you'd almost feel sorry for them if those people weren't so evil and manipulative.
#8, I agree. It is not a good line. Mitt was the incoming governor looking for experienced, qualified candidates as direct reports. He was not looking for 'young' women who could 'learn'. Obama's statement here is the one which is condescending to women. He would never say 'young men who could learn'; he knows there are plenty of middle-aged men around who have already learned! Mitt was looking for women with experience. Asking for recommendations was a perfectly valid way of learning of more people with the experience to do the job.
Obama was 'young' and 'could learn' when he was put in the White House...and look how that turned out.
I have been enduring a bad case of Baraktitis and Obamarhia for almost 4 years because the only ones getting his freshly printed stimulus dollars are his union buddies and political contributors and they don't produce jobs but are really good at political kickbacks. Scales are falling off independents eyes as jaws start dropping towards the floor. The second American Revolution begins at the ballot box on November 6th.
I sincerely don't get it. How else is a busy CEO type who needs info on 50 to 100 candidates for a position to be handed this info except in a binder. Now if the 'binders-joke' refers to an S and M practice, I would think the Left already has that segment of the population sewn up. I'm serious, what's the joke?
Doesn't it seem like it is always 1968 with these people- that women are discouraged to go to college and still have to struggle to find jobs as executives instead of clerical workers? That people of color are routinely discriminated against? That smog still wreaths our cities? That our rivers still catch on fire? etc. etc.
And of course they never want to look at the flip side of the coin, at all the unintended consequences of just how well all their favorite causes of succeeded -the war on boys in school and men in the culture. The pathologies of an entrenched culture of dependency in our cities. Job strangling regulations and billions thrown away on unrealistic alternative energy schemes.
..let's be real..zippy is a juvenile and a punk...and he will say and do anything to distract from the fact that he has the blood of 4 diplomats on his hands..and he lied to cover it up..hopefully he will be fully exposed on Monday night...go Mitt!
The two presidential candidates traded barbs at the Al Smith dinner. I thought Romney just nailed his routine with natural comedic timing and some great zingers.
Obama fell flat as he tried to make fun of his first debate performance.
Is it just me or does Obama remind anyone else of that famous exchange in "Good Morning Vietnam" when Bruno Kirby (aka Lt. Steve) took over the comedy at the radio station. "Sir I'm begging you. Don't try to do comedy. You are not funny."
"Oh Lt. Steve. Lt. Steve. Was that not the best polka music you have ever heard?"
Mr. President, I'm begging you. You are not funny and don't try to do comedy.
Most poignant observation here is # 18. American production of goods has tanked - witness most of our durable goods are now manufactured elsewhere , hence the big cities have no jobs . Yet the socialists are attacking what companies that still remain . Our great country no longer stands on bedrock but a thin shelf over a void . Not once have we heard ( except Trump ) how we can return solid jobs to these big cities that now depend on small business' tax returns to feed them . Witness the EPA. May Romney and a fresh congress kill it .
#3, I heard a sound byte yesterday of 0bama screaming at the top of his lungs that "0bamacare will cover pre-existing conditions!". He definitely sounded like he has completely lost his mind. It was very Howard Dean-ish.
#16, "Milk of Romnesia" is hysterical. I sprayed the keyboard with French Roast when I read that one!
America’s Pipsqueak President and Adolescent-in-Chief was thrust into power four years ago by a corrupt political party and an equally corrupt and complicit mainstream media. It’s now four years later and the overwhelming evidence of their corruption is strewn all around us. We’re almost buried in it up to and including our unmentionable you-know-whats. Now is the time to toss him back from whence he came and learn from this disastrous experience.
But, what lies immediately ahead is the critical issue of getting through the upcoming election unscathed. People such as John Fund know full well how widespread vote-tampering has been in the past and continues to be. Let us never lose sight of the Democrat party and its lust for power at ALL cost. They will say and do ANYTHING to win.
"Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything." – Joseph Stalin
I think the tide truly started to turn when Clint Eastwood talked to the empty chair. He was the little boy saying "the emperor has no clothes". And then he called Obama a hoax. And for every person who attempted to ridicule Clint, there were a thousand who felt emboldened to agree. You could feel it.
And it has allowed the truth about the decency of Romney to shine through.
#18-''Doesn't it seem like it is always 1968 with these people'' They've been working out of the same playbook since TR, the 1st FDR. The only people with fresh ideas are the ones who call themselves''conservative''. Ironic!
~~At an outdoor rally in downtown Manchester, the president tried his best to look confident, but in interviews with some supporters, there was an air of concern. Four years ago, Obama took New Hampshire by 9 points and now he’s deadlocked with a guy who could only manage to win 39 percent of the vote in the GOP primary.~~
Because his audiences have been carefully selected and screened for ideological purity and bluntheadedness, what Obama considers humorous has always had a nasty edge to it. Since he is addicted to erecting strawmen and torching them on the podium, there is little to no truth in his "entertainment" of campaign audiences. Real humor requires at least some semblance of what is. These people--both Obama and his braying cheerleaders--are so twisted in their understanding of political issues that they have come to believe not only in the ridiculous caricatures of the opposition but in the godhood of Obama, who, other than the latter two North Korean Kims (Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un), is the least qualified person ever to rise to high office, perhaps ever, anywhere. If ever there were a post turtle pResidency, we're enduring it now. What the hell is he doing there?
For Obama's strained "binder" allusions to be effective, he has to be talking down to an especially stupid crowd, not that there aren't plenty of those people in these DNC circle jerking derision fests. What Obama doesn't habla is that the speaker has to be as stupid as those he's talking to. And he is.
What's truly funniest of all is that Obama isn't even doing a particularly good job of pretending to be smart. This pathetic character couldn't have gotten there on his own; he needed a lot of lunkhead support. The "You didn't build that" speech was inevitable, particularly coming from him, because he's never built anything of value himself. In fact, he can't conceive of it. All he knows is how to do is tax valuable things. This presidency will self destruct in five seconds.
People who are self-righteous and self-important are never, ever, ever humorous. That goes for any ideology, gender, religion, sexual orientation, whatever.
I think of the owner of the business where I work and compare him to Obama. The boss is a serious businessman and can make the tough decisions, but he also has an humble side and is willing to admit when he is wrong. He's one of the funniest people I know. I've never once witnessed him say a vulgar or disrespectful thing to any woman. Wait a minute...he reminds me of Romney!
I have to agree with all that has been previously posted, but there is one more thing I would like to point out. And that is the fact that Obozo, during this entire campaign season, has NOT laid out to the American people, a clear plan of what he would do differently in a 2nd term. All he has done is to run around the country making personal attacks on Romney. And trying to portray the success of his foreign policy. Now, the events of Benghazi has destroyed even that. And the American people are beginning to see all of this. And it's showing daily in the polls (if you believe them). One thing that Dims have never learned is that not all Americans are as dumb as they think.
It's just a question...throwing out Obama is a start, how can we throw out all the Diane Sawyer brainwashers, their writers, producers AND their privilege seeking sponsors who have faithfully been PAYING FOR ALL THE NETWORK LIES ? We can certainly boycott network nes sponsored products. We do not have to buy products that promote socialism. And we can direct our criticism and anger directly to the Diane Sawyer traitors to the truth. The old media is big time repsonsible for the Harry Reid, Puglosi, Obama dozens of CZARS agitating their communist ways. So the big time news people need to be fired from their betraying work. We don't need Communist agitprop TV. This is not 1930's agitprop communist promoting theater that America wants. We have to wake up and hold the TV droids as responsible for this mess as the pathetic Reids, Pelosis and silent Boehners. They are all the same, except nobody elects or throws out TV droids. They are just like Obama's pre historic CZARS, appointed by isiders, not responsible to the citizenry
If Barry were to be put through a session on a psychiatrist's couch, I'm afraid he wouldn't be leaving the building without being wrapped in a straight jacket. It's only the fact that he is the faux president that allows him to be sheltered by all around him, under the supervision of mama Val.
The man has been as loony as a drunken snake from day One. Very few recognized that fact and that's why we're here today. But then, look at his precedents in history, Napoleon, Mussolini, Adolph Hitler, Nero - fruit cakes, all of them.
# 3 Obama's 2012 voice is high pitched and hysterical. " You didn't build that ! " I always tune the guy out , but, yesterday some radio show played a clip of Obama on the stump in 08 and even though he was rallying the voters, he spoke in a much lower , less frantic tone. The vocal contrast between 08 and 2012 is telling. Obama's hyper and womanly voice and his moronic election issues like Big Bird and binders and Romnesia really indicate desperation. The flailing panic from Obama and Biden comes through to the voters , even on a subconscious level. Romney looks and sounds like a confident winner .
I honestly don't understand what was the gaffe in Romney sayng he got binders of women who he could decide to put in good positions? Why is is funny to go over resumes? I guess I am missing something. He was hiring women- how is this bad for the women who were hired??? And if the joke is that he didn't know all these women, that isn't funny either. Why would someone running for governor know people who can run each and every government agency? I don't know anyone specializing in public utilities or in waste removal or road construction and I bet most governors elected also don't know someone who is well informed about every agency or service the government performs. Of course, the Democrats don't need binders, they ask for payments for the jobs. Finding the best qualified, I guess, is a mystery to them since they just look for who will give them the best kickback.
Re the conclusion of post 56: "Of course, the Democrats don't need binders, they ask for payments for the jobs. Finding the best qualified, I guess, is a mystery to them since they just look for who will give them the best kickback."
You nailed it. But kickbacks are not the end of the story. Don't forget their relatives. Dems hire quite a few of those. No need for binders there. And whoever coughed up the right check at the last fund-raiser (known as a "time" here in MA). That person probably gets a job too. With that crew a handshake and a wink perform wonders; again who needs binders? And lastly whichever party hack or sign holder is first in line after the kickback people, the cousins and nephews, and such are taken care of.
Dems never heard of binders. However, they do know a lot about bLinders – the better not to know exactly how so and so got hired.
Friday night on Mark Levin's show he played excerpts from "Shecky" Obama's address to GMU. it was embarrassing to say the least, especially when he dropped his "g's" while mocking Romney. It was not presidential. He sounded like a third rate Catskill comedian. I half expected him to say "try the veal. Ill be here all week."
NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey man faces tens of thousands of dollars in fines after regulators say he interfered with a satellite system at one of the nation´s busiest airports while masking his whereabouts from his employer. The Federal Communications Commission said Gary Bojczak admitted he installed a jamming device in his company-owned pickup to thwart his employer´s GPS. Bojczak surrendered the jamming device after his vehicle was stopped at Newark Liberty International Airport in August 2012. The FCC said the jamming device interfered with a new system that enhanced navigation signals that used GPS data to aid aircraft approaching,
DALLAS, Texas -- The biggest man in Texas, who burned last October in a fire at the State Fair of Texas, will soon stand tall again thanks to donors. The State Fair of Texas tells WFAA-TV they have received more than $95,000 in contributions to the Big Tex reconstruction fund. The new Big Tex will cost $500,000, a beautification project surrounding the tall structure is estimated to cost an additional $6,000. State fair officials say they will receive $155,000 in insurance from the fire in addition to public funds. In addition to the donations, the fair says they will have six founding sponsors.
After an avalanche of scandals hit the White House this spring, the Obama administration adopted the public-relations strategy of calling IRS political targeting, NSA domestic snooping, and the deaths of four Americans in an utterly predictable terrorist attack on a diplomatic facility “phony scandals.” How’s that working? According to a new Fox poll, even worse than you’d think. The best response comes on the IRS story, where a whopping 33% agree that there’s nothing to worry about … but 59% disagree: Benghazi. Snooping on reporters. The IRS and NSA. The White House dismisses them as phony
WASHINGTON- President Obama made his first extensive public comments this week on two pressing national security matters – the temporary closing of 19 embassies and rising tensions with Russian President Vladimir Putin – in an unlikely forum, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."Mr. Obama is no stranger to late night television. Since his first run for president in 2008, he has visited a variety of venues– including daytime programs like "The View" and "The Ellen Degeneres Show" – to shape his personal political brand as accessible, fun, and hip, while also using these shows to reach out
Middle and high school students in San Diego, California will be encouraged to vent their frustration that the world lacks justice when they return to school and participate in the “Trayvon Martin dialogues” this fall. The board of San Diego Unified Schools unanimously approved a proposal recently to establish classroom forums to discuss the death of Trayvon Martin, a black teenager who was shot during an altercation with a Hispanic man, George Zimmerman, in Florida last year. A jury recently acquitted Zimmerman, who claimed that Martin struck first and shot him in self-defense.
The City of Detroit misplaced a million-dollar check sent to it by a school district. Which prompts two questions. How do you lose a million-dollar check? And: Why is a city in the year 2013 still using paper checks? The first question is actually the easier one to answer. The story was reported by Bloomberg, which describes the situation. In late February, cash-strapped Detroit received a $1 million check from the local school system that wasn’t deposited. The routine payment wound up in a city hall desk drawer, where it was found a month later. First of all,
Sixty years ago the Korean War ended. No peace treaty was ever signed and over the years North Korea publicly repudiated the armistice at least ten times. Thus, the parties technically are still at war, though no one wants to restart a conflict in which everyone would lose. Pyongyang is a great international mystery. What makes the system of monarchical communism tick? How are decisions made? What are the chances for change? But there is a bigger question much harder to answer. Why is the U.S. still involved on the peninsula, threatening and threatened by the North?
“It’s your content that is being rejected” — Rush Limbaugh on the selling of the Washington Post The Washington Post died for Liberal Privilege. The Doctrine of Liberal Privilege. Let’s define that Liberal Privilege. In four words? “We make the rules.” Is Rush Limbaugh in trouble? Is the Tea Party extremist? Was Ronald Reagan dumb, the Soviet Union eternal, did Bush lie, are conservatives racists? Is Sarah Palin stupid, Hillary Clinton brilliant, global warming a scientific fact, and abortion overwhelmingly popular? The answers? Yes, yes, yes, yes, of course, it’s obvious, absolutely, and everybody knows it without question.
The competition is intense, but Durbin is definitely a contender. Here is the latest evidence: In preparation for a previously announced hearing on controversial “stand your ground” laws announced after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, Sen. Richard J. Durbin, D-Ill., sent letters to more than 300 possible corporate backers of the American Legislative Exchange Council, requesting their position on such policies in states across the country. This is Durbin’s press release announcing the “stand your ground” hearing in his Senate Judiciary subcommittee: Around 30 states currently have some form
At the best of times it is hazardous for the mental equilibrium of a rational person randomly to turn on the television set, and it is probably especially so in summer. Last week, in a cavalierly daredevil moment, I did so, and was almost reduced to the incommunicable state of Zechariah in the Temple as a result. First, I unluckily happened upon what purported to be a serious discussion of the supposed difference in public responses to men’s and women’s weeping. The party of vintage, quaveringly emotional feminism, twitching and squirming as they emitted the unimaginable frustrations
One day after the Yemeni authorities took credit for disrupting a terrorist plot against oil and gas lines there, the White House continued to rigorously defend the administration´s decision to keep a record numbers of embassies around the world shuttered with no end in sight to the closures. U.S. officials are remaining on high alert and will continue to keep 19 diplomatic facilities in the Middle East, Northern Africa and Central Asia shuttered as intelligence agencies evaluate the threat level. "I think there will be an assessment, and when there´s an assessment that this current threat is not what it was,
Staff Sergeant Alonzo Lunsford told prosecutors this week that Major Nidal Hasan shouted “Allahu Akbar” before he opened fire on military personnel at the Fort Hood base in 2009. Hasan’s Islamism-animated killing spree caused the deaths of 13 people and one unborn child, and wounded 32 other individuals. In a remarkable and heartbreaking Washington Post opinion piece today, Shawn Manning, who barely survived Hasan’s rampage, urged the U.S. Army to designate the murderous act as terrorism. Sadly, the U.S. Army and the Pentagon steadfastly insist on the labeling the jihadi killing a non-ideological form of “workplace violence.” Manning described Hasan’s horrific violence:
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie holds a narrow lead among Republicans for the party’s 2016 presidential nomination, but even more GOP voters say he’s the candidate they least want to see nominated. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that Christie earns 21% support when Republican voters are asked whom they would vote for if the party’s primary in their state were held today. Florida Senator Marco Rubio runs a close second with 18% of the GOP vote, followed by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush at 16% and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul with 15% of the vote.
The owner of a shop in Zurich where US talk show host Oprah Winfrey says she encountered racism has called the incident a "misunderstanding". Winfrey, one of the world´s richest women, claimed an assistant refused to serve her in an upmarket handbag shop. She was apparently told one of the bags on display was "too expensive" for her. Shop owner Trudie Gotz told the BBC that Winfrey was "absolutely allowed" to look at the $35,000 (£22,500) bag, which was kept behind a screen. "My salesperson wanted to give her the handbag in her hand. But she didn´t want
Barack Obama delivered one gaffe after another in his August 6 interview with Jay Leno, but the networks that usually mock every mistake or slip of the tongue made by Republicans ignored the President´s verbal mishaps. ABC´s Good Morning America, CBS´s This Morning and NBC´s Today show, on Wednesday morning, all bypassed the chance to criticize Obama for: downplaying the threat of terrorism; falsely claiming Vladimir Putin once ran the KGB; placing the Atlantic coast cities of Savannah, Charleston and Jacksonville on the Gulf of Mexico; confusing the Winter Olympics with the Summer Olympics. First up, on the
Ending a war is a good thing. Killing civilians a bad thing. Deliberately targeting civilians is murder, and is never morally licit, even in pursuit of a good thing such as ending a war. The tens of thousands of Japanese non-combatants we killed 68 years ago this week with two nuclear bombs were not “collateral damage” of military strikes. They were the intended targets. We hoped that mass murder would bring the Japanese emperor to surrender. It worked, and American and Japanese soldiers’ lives were probably saved by it —
Last month we learned that Megyn Kelly was leaving her daytime anchor gig to take over a Fox News primetime slot. According to an “exclusive” Drudge Report flash this afternoon, that time slot will be 9 p.m. ET. “Superstar newswoman Megyn Kelly has landed the 9 PM slot, top sources reveal,” the Drudge Report wrote. “The shock announcement is set for later this month.” Fox’s 9 p.m. hour is currently helmed by Sean Hannity, leading to speculation over whether he could be out of a primetime gig. There are many possible outcomes from this lineup change,
In a move some claim is tantamount to social engineering, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is imposing a new rule that would allow the feds to track diversity in America’s neighborhoods and then push policies to change those it deems discriminatory. The policy is called, "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing." It will require HUD to gather data on segregation and discrimination in every single neighborhood and try to remedy it. HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan unveiled the federal rule at the NAACP convention in July. "Unfortunately, in too many of our hardest hit communities, no matter how hard
Retired 68-year-old US Army general and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Wesley K. Clark has won yet another esteemed decoration — he is dating 30-year-old Shauna Mei, the founder of online retailer AHAlife.com. Clark, who was married to Gertrude Kingston Clark for 45 years before filing for divorce last year, is spending time with the young New York-based entrepreneur, who graduated from MIT and worked at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker before launching her luxury e-commerce site. Clark and Mei were spotted together recently in the Hamptons,
President Obama is slated to deliver a speech later this month commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington in which Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Obama will deliver his speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial — the same place where King spoke 50 years ago. The Let Freedom Ring ceremony will be held Aug. 28. "It’s obviously a historic, seminal event in the country. It’s part of my generation’s formative memory and it’s a good time for us to do some reflection,"
National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden extended his 15 minutes of fame Wednesday, as headlines tied his saga to President Barack Obama’s decision to cancel a planned summit meeting in Moscow next month with Russian President Vladimir Putin. But analysts said the talk of Snowden’s role in the cancellation obscured a more basic reality: The U.S.-Russia relationship is now so frosty that it didn’t appear the two presidents would actually accomplish enough to merit such a high-profile meeting. After four years, the much-vaunted reset in U.S.-Russian relations has devolved into a chilly standoff over issues like the Kremlin’s support for Syria
Nanny State: If any question remained about the Obama White House´s appetite for running everyone´s life from Washington, it should be settled now. This administration even wants to dictate neighborhood makeup. Like your neighborhood? Don´t get used to it. The Obama Department of Housing and Urban Development might decide it wants to dictate changes. HUD is, according to Fox News, considering "a new rule that would allow the feds to track diversity in America´s neighborhoods and then push policies to change those it deems discriminatory." The proposed rule, disclosed last month by HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan at
“IQ is a metric of such dubiousness that almost no serious educational researcher uses it anymore,” the Guardian’s Ana Marie Cox wrote back in May. It was a breathtakingly ignorant statement. Psychologist Jelte Wicherts noted in response that a search for “IQ test” in Google’s academic database yielded more than 10,000 hits — just for the year 2013. (Snip) There is a large discrepancy between what educated laypeople believe about cognitive science and what experts actually know. Journalists are steeped in the lay wisdom, so they are repeatedly surprised when someone forthrightly discusses the real science of mental ability.
In a remarkable admission that is likely to rock the Internal Revenue Service again, testimony released Thursday by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp reveals that an agent involved in reviewing tax exempt applications from conservative groups told a committee investigator that the agency is still targeting Tea Party groups, three months after the IRS scandal erupted.. In closed door testimony before the House Ways & Means Committee, the unidentified IRS agent said requests for special tax status from Tea Party groups is being forced into a special "secondary screening" because
