The Democrats' Rough Re-entry Into Reality

| Is there a limit to self-delusion? And if there is, what happens when the limit is exceeded? New York Times columnist Gail Collins began her column last week as follows, "When Democrats run into each other on elevators, they exchange glances and sigh. Or make little whimpering sounds." She went on to observe that "Democrats are going bipolar. Democrats spend all their waking hours thinking about the swing states. If Wisconsin starts looking wobbly, their day is ruined." It makes you wonder what their days are going to be like if Obama loses the actual election.

Great article. Hope it becomes 'Must-Read' material here. Best line I've read in some time: 'When a liberal has a choice between fantasy and reality, he will choose fantasy every time.' And in 2008, we found the fantasy dwellers outnumbered the reality dwellers. Seems like reality is finally settling in on the Indies. Which gives us some hope for Nov.

I like how this man writes. His clarity and straight shooting is refreshing. My 'filter' did not get clogged with fluff nor did my smoke detector beep. Most of the time with conservative and always with lefties, I have to change the filter and install new batteries after reading several articles. But, Mr Ross writes to the point and persuasively.

Speaking of reality, a Romney win, even if accompanied by winning majorities in both houses of Congress, isn't going to be a magical cure all. The rabid faction of the left will start their offensive on November 7th and continue it until election day in 2016. Every bill introduced by Republicans, every submitted budget, every Romney appointment from cabinet level, to supreme court, to the lowest level will be anally examined and fought. Tin foil hat theories about Mormon church involvement will begin by summer and calls for impeachment will begin before Thanksgiving. We will have won the battle, but the war will have just begun and it's going to be a long war.

Zippy's 'destroy America' mask slipped the first time when he whispered to that Russian, but it slipped again and maybe fatally with this Benghazi debacle.
Even the ignorant and venal who fell for him in 2008 may now see him for what he is...though some of them may have agreed with him all along.

The real moral of both "The Emperor's New Clothes" and Obama is why both the emperor and his subjects refused to see the nakedness. The con men (media) told them all in advance that only the smartest and most worthy among the kingdom would be able to appreciate the beauty of the garments they were making.

Living in Fantasyville is a nice place to be, until the ruffians from Realityville move into town. They are then faced with what they denied for so long - that they were ill prepared for properly taking care of themselves. What a mess when you keep your head in a rainbow and never tend the garden. It all falls down!

This article opens up a topic I am very interested in. Why is it that something which is so obvious to me is so hard for others to see? It is obvious to me that Obama is a fraud and a disaster for the nation yet the blinders come off so slowly for others - a major portion of the population. The 47 % that don't pay taxes now are not all lifelong takers but there is no doubt Obama follows a policy of making as many as possible dependent to guarantee their vote in perpetuity! There is more to it than dependency. The author mentions fantasy. It is OK for children to live in a fantasyland but adults should grow out of it. Many adults cling to fantasy and this is the roots of the Obama/Alinski power. Liberals love their escape from reality into fantasy - they cling to this and ignore anything that disturbs the dream.

The day Romney wins, I want to be a fly on the wall at The Forehead's house in New Awlin's. I'm remembering how, in 2008, he was chirping that the dhimmocrats would be in power for the next 40 years. Thank God he was wrong. What will it take for Americans to understand that when dhimmocrats are in power, bad things happen to us and this country. Look at the damage they have done to Social Security over the years. It wasn't the pubbies who did that, but according to the dhims, the pubbies was going to take it away from the elderly. Well, how close are they coming to that now?

Re: No. 4's post - I think that most of the country is more than fed up with the nonsense. We especially don't like being scorned & ridiculed by smug lefties who thought they were finally in power & it was going to last forever. I have completely lost patience with the "fantasy-dwellers" among us. I have even disowned several people in my family because of this - I saw for the first time what they really are. I know lots of people looking for work - here in the real world, I have friends & family who are really suffering because of present economic realities & we are NO longer in an indulgent mood. That is the same mood that created the tea party & it is not going away. A country can only afford to give affirmative action presidents a chance if the economy is STRONG. What's required now, is for real adults to apply some real solutions & get the country back on track - no more dreamers with "daddy" issues will be tolerated.

Mass 1930's-style rallies in front of the Brandenburg Gate? Even Britain's conservative newspapers still seem to be rooting for him to win the election. Only Putin, Netanyahu, and the Islamic Terrorist International leaders seem to see Obama for what he is.

I hate to disagree with the author, but no, Dims are NOT re-entering reality. Not unless they have discovered that there really is a Supreme Being that we call GOD. And they re-learn that there really is a Ten Commandments that was handed down by that same GOD. And that they really are COMMANDMENTS and NOT suggestions. For therein lies, IMHO, the crux of the matter. For decades now, far too many have been taught that there really is no GOD because we can't touch, see, hear, or otherwise know is HE exists or not. So, we really don't have to buy into this business and we get to make our own decisions about what is good or evil, wrong or right, etc.
Until these people return to the Creator of the Universe, they will continue on the same path.

The left will never take responsibility for their actions. If Obama loses, they will blame the messenger. Never the message.
There needs to be massive repudiation of Obama's policies, philosophy, and behavior.
Obama's policies have cost money, freedom, and lives.
Obama's philosophy is akin to Communism, Socialism, Marxism, and Islam. Distinctly Anti-American.
Obama's behavior has been awlful. He lies all the time, cheats, and is corrupt. He is vulgar. We have never had a president that made obscene gestures. He does not behave like a president in any way.
November 6 is 'Impeach Obama' day. He needs to be repudiated. I hope America wakes up and he gets less than 40% of the vote, and loses by over 30 million votes. I really think it is possible. That should be the reality Obama faces.

Polite, well-meaning conservatives will ask how "otherwise intelligent" people indulge in the liberal fantasies. The answer is that you are beginning from a false assumption that they are intelligent. They are not. They are stupid. Simply put, our civilization has caried us too far from the wilderness and the unforgiving cleansing of the gene pool that used to be provided by natural selection.
The wide-eyed nature lover who went out to make friends with the pretty kitty got eaten by the saber toothed tiger and we didn't have to listen to him anymore at the campfire. The holier-than-thou pacifist who went out to make peace with the oogabooga tribe on the other side of the mountain never came back, sparing us any more of his dangerous drivel about "leading from behind." Stupidity used to just go away. Now we call it "Joe" and suffer through it.

Pretty good turn of phrase. The term libtard is not used lightly - these folks wouldn't last a week without the protection of a society that houses, feeds, and bolsters their self-esteem. Maybe they instinctively know this and thus that is why they cling so fiercely to a huge and overbearing government.

The quasi-official ideology of the U.S. armed forces holds that generals are virtually interchangeable, that individual personalities don’t matter much, that ordinary grunts are in any case more important than their leaders, and that what really counts are larger systems that make a complex bureaucracy function. There is some truth to all of this. But for all of the bureaucratic heft of the services and the heroism of ordinary soldiers, it is hard to imagine the Civil War having been won without Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan—or World War II without Marshall, Eisenhower, Patton, Bradley, Arnold, LeMay, Nimitz, Halsey,

Last August a 28-year-old gay-rights volunteer named Floyd Corkins entered the office lobby of the Family Research Council (FRC), a Christian traditional-values group headquartered in Washington that condemns homosexual conduct and opposes same-sex marriage. Corkins took a gun from his backpack and fired three shots at building manager Leo Johnson, one of them wounding the unarmed Johnson in the arm before he wrested the gun from Corkins. On February 6 Corkins pleaded guilty to three felonies: committing an act of terrorism while armed, interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition

FORT WORTH -- For 21/2 years, Germain Gardea kept his wives in the dark. The 38-year-old flight instructor spent weekdays in Arlington with his first wife, Jennifer Saldivar, and their young son. On weekends, he left town for his job as an instructor at a flight school, residing in Grapevine with his second wife, Leslie Gardea, who traveled during the week. To keep the women from finding out about each other, he created fake divorce documents on the Internet and filed his first wife´s taxes, marking her as single without her knowledge. But the deception came crashing down in May after Leslie Gardea

In a letter to John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, and Jeff Flake, the four Judiciary Committee members express concern that an immigration reform bill will be rushed through Congress without proper oversight in the form of hearings and robust debate. The Supreme Court could soon end one of the federal government´s most archaic practices. Since the 1930s, the Agriculture Department has turned California raisin growers into pawns of its Raisin Administrative Committee, which can commandeer up to half of the farmer´s crop and then pay them little or nothing for the product. Marvin Horne, a 67-year-old raisin farmer in Fresno, Calif., was fined almost $700,000 for refusing to surrender control of much of his harvest to the government committee in 2002. Horne, who has been growing raisins for more than 40 years,

There are many who scoff at Andrew Cuomo’s chances in a presidential primary campaign, but I am not among them. His name is an iconic Democratic brand, he’s forceful on the stump and a prodigious fund-raiser. Besides, somebody has to win the nomination. Of course, there are hurdles. Saint Hillary is gearing up to run, and there will be a scrum among contenders, probably including Vice President Joe Biden, competing just to be Clinton’s top rival. The scenario, then, is daunting but doable — or at least it was,

Neither — it´s the story told by a 1622 shipwreck whose treasures were desperately needed to shore up the finances of the struggling Spanish Empire. Historian James Thomas Flexner referred to George Washington as "the indispensable man." Americans all know he was a general, but have you ever wondered what grade of general? How many stars did Gen. Washington have? In today´s Army, a one-star general is a brigadier; two stars is a major general; three stars is a lieutenant general; four stars is just plain general. During World War II, Congress created the five-star general, the modern rank of general of the Army. There had been an earlier grade that was called general of the Army,

They´re trying to determine whether or not Murdock, the former director of player development,

Imagine the pitch to a History Channel executive for the smash hit The Bible. Here’s one scenario: Producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett: “Hi, we want to produce a story that appeals to all age groups. It’s has everything: love, lust, greed, war, self-sacrifice and redemption. It’s called ‘The Bible.’” Executive: “Could you repeat that? You said ‘The Bible’?” RD and MB: “Yes – we want to retell the Bible for this generation. And we think we can make money doing it. We’ve done a lot of market research —there is no competition out there.”

Since the Shermans of General Patton´s Third Army crossed the Rhine on March 22, 1945, there have been American tanks in Germany. No more, as John Vandiver of Stars and Stripes reports. The U.S. Army’s 69-year history of basing main battle tanks on German soil quietly ended last month when 22 Abrams tanks, a main feature of armored combat units throughout the Cold War, embarked for the U.S. The departure of the last M-1 Abrams tanks coincides with the inactivation of two of the Army’s Germany-based heavy brigades.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look

Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba this week. The couple, who married on April 4, 2008, took in the sights of Old Havana, visited a school, dined on a rooftop terrace and strolled the fan-filled streets in their island best.(snip).The power couple declined to answer journalists´ questions about their visit to the island nation, but some outlets are reporting that the moguls are there as tourists, though that would be illegal because of the half-century embargo the U.S. has on the Communist country. Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —
