Top Liberal Calls for Eva Longoria's Resignation from Obama Campaign

After re-tweeting a tweet that declared as "stupid" any and all minorities and women who support a "racist/misogynist tw*t" named Mitt Romney, and then attempting to cover it up Anthony Weiner-style with a bizarre tweet blaming Twitter for "things in my timeline" -- actress and Obama campaign co-chair Eva Longoria is now learning something about accountability. This morning, Longoria was forced to tweet out an apology. Now her resignation from the Obama campaign has been called for. For high-profile Obama supporter, Alan Colmes, it looks as though Longoria's apology was too little and way too late. Link repaired by staff

When you're young and beautiful, you should be able to say whatever you want and do whatever you want; right?
One of these days, she'll see herself under the light of age, grow old and nobody will give a crap about her. Maybe then, she'll understand that life is more than her, more than wealth, beauty and her perverted version of liberty and freedom. I’m not holding my breath.

I've never seen her act in anything and don't even know the shows with which she's associated. When I heard her "clip" the other evening, I wanted to get under a table because of the embarrassment I was feeling for this pathetically dumb woman. It is hard to believe she works for a network, or whoever she works for, or is hired to make movies. And she's a spokeswoman for Barry? This has to be an all time low even for the RAT party.
Someone needs to tell this empty and insultingly stupid woman that she'll be as out of work as Barry is when she finally understands that people like me don't pay to watch any them...none of us (and we tell others too)...nor do we support their causes. And it gets worse: as much as possible, we avoid anyone and any company who supports their tripe or them. It's a dollar factor, Eva. That's spelled d-o-l-l-a-r and the speed and the number you collect is likely to change real soon.

I happened to be in San Antonio one time when Ms Longoria was still married to the basketball player. She is HIOC--a hispanic of convenience. She was overheard sayingt disparaging remarks about the hick hispanic community that did not sit well. She considers herself light years above the nearest hispanic woman. Yet to listen to her, you would think she was Santa Anna's long lost relative claiming that the whites took Texas away from her. Now her arrogance and big mouth have gotten her in trouble again. Hope it sticks.

NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd cautioned Hardball host Chris Matthews on Tuesday that the secret tape of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) release by Mother Jones magazine discussing avenues of attacking his potential reelection campaign opponents may be the result of a criminal act. The FBI has been asked to open a probe into how that audio was acquired, and Todd told Matthews that a federal crime may have been committed in this case. Matthews asked Todd what he thought the legal issues would be for the news outlets and publications that release the audio

Following Tuesday´s special election victory, Democrat Robin Kelly will start a new job in Congress as the least senior member of a House dominated by Republicans. That political reality is not lost on Kelly, who said her first task is to restore district offices and concentrate on constituent services as she replaces disgraced former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. in the South Side and south suburban 2nd Congressional District. "Yes, we´ve seen some tough times and some setbacks. Actually, she is backing off. Here’s the thing about her now-famous MSNBC promo: Either she’s saying something radical or she’s saying something so banal that it’s barely even worth saying. The radical interpretation is that she thinks parents should have less say over how their children are raised and that “communities” should have a larger role. The very, very banal interpretation is that she thinks communities should do more to improve children’s lives and that thinking of them as “our children” might help forge that mentality. The money line in the promo that pointed to the radical interpretation

Richard Pollack at the Washington Examiner reports on a painless way to handle sequester costs -- cut out the unnecessary duplicative federal programs: Duplicative drug abuse and treatment services are strewn over 76 federal programs. Housing services are spread across 20 different agencies. Renewable energy projects go through 23 federal agencies and 130 sub-agencies. Even federal catfish inspections are done by three different agencies. These are only a few of 162 examples identified by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, a congressional watchdog agency, of fragmented, duplicative federal programs and services.

The exceedingly messy lawsuit between Arthur “Terry” Newmyer and Sidwell Friends School is headed for trial—and the circle of high-profile Washingtonians wrapped up in the case is expanding. At a hearing last week, DC Superior Court judge Michael Rankin set a trial date of November 18, 2013. Newmyer first filed suit against Sidwell and its former psychologist in May 2011. He claims the psychologist had an affair with his wife while treating his daughter, then five, and that Sidwell took “flagrant and outrageous actions” that allowed the “open sexual relationship.” For Sidwell—an elite private school in DC

WASHINGTON- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says he wants U.S. military law changed so senior commanders can´t overturn courts-martial verdicts in major crimes such as rape. Hagel said the Pentagon´s top lawyers would prepare legislation for Congress that would strip commanders´ power to toss out convictions, "except for certain minor offenses that would not ordinarily warrant trial by court-martial." Convicted defendants still would be able to appeal their cases. But in a move berated by advocacy groups for military sexual-assault victims, Hagel also said he would recommend commanders retain the power to alter courts-martial sentences,

If presidential politics ever involved time travel, President Obama might be in a little trouble. If an election between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama were held today, 58% would vote for Reagan over Obama, according to a survey of 1,000 Americans age 18 and older conducted by Kelton Research for the National Geographic Channel. Though when the field is narrowed to people ages 18-34 -- those either too young to have known Reagan as president or too young to remember much -- the gap shrinks to 51% in favor of Reagan.

With all due respect to Mother Jones´s conversation-leaker-in-chief David Corn, the recordings published today of a conversation between Sen. Mitch McConnell and some consultants disparaging Ashley Judd is not news. It´s the sausage being made. We´ve got full background here, but the toplines are this: Corn got hold of a conversation apparently recorded during a presentation by consultants to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell´s reelection campaign. The consultants were opposition researchers, hired by the campaign to ferret out damaging information about actress Ashley Judd, who at one point considered running against McConnell.

As he continues guiding the Senate toward eventual consideration of proposals to curb gun violence, Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) invoked his father’s suicide Tuesday as he once again pleaded with Republicans not to block legislation under consideration. During his morning remarks on the Senate floor, Reid recalled receiving a 12-gauge shotgun ordered from a Sears catalog for his 12th birthday and made reference to incidents of gun violence in his home state of Nevada, including the 2010 shooting at a Las Vegas federal building. He also noted that as a young state legislator, he sponsored a bill

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Congress and the American people need to know what happened the night of Sept. 11, 2012. Who did the killing and what was their motive? Why wasn´t help sent? And why did the administration lie about who was responsible? Members of Congress have asked hundreds of questions at hearings conducted by several investigative committees, but many of the most significant have been left unanswered. Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
