| The 21-year-old student behind an alleged terror plot to blow up the New York Federal Reserve also planned to target a high-ranking U.S. official, believed to be President Obama. Quazi Nafis, from Bangladesh, was arrested early on Wednesday after he allegedly tried to remotely detonate a fake 1,000-pound car bomb outside the building in lower Manhattan, only a few blocks from the World Trade Center. The plot was foiled by a major FBI and NYPD operation which led to Nafis being supplied with fake explosives by an undercover agent. New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said that a high-ranking

Earlier yesterday I saw the potus theory floated then removed by the evening. Which story line do you think the sinking potus will embrace/employ? Fake war in libya where he takes out, by drone, the people who killed our people in libya? Bid Laden II?. Threat of assassination? How about his kid or wife are sick? Bo has a booboo?

FTA "According to the criminal complaint, Nafis said: 'All I had in my mind are how to destroy America... I came up to this conclusion that targeting America’s economy is most efficient way to draw the path of obliteration of America as well as the path of establishment of Khilapha.’"

Hss ever ever in the history of America a president watched in real time as his Ambassador and Navy SEALs were murdered and simply went to bed so he could be up early to continue his political campaign?
It is so chilling that it makes one wonder if Stevens was on Obama's 'kill list'.

Maybe we should consider a moritorium on student visas, and track down those "students" whose visas have expired, or who haven't attended classes for the past thirty days, and who are still presumably roaming the country.

Maybe I missed something but all the article talked about was the plan to bomb the New York Federal Reserve building so I hardly see how that "takes out" 0bama. It also points out the ignorance of the would-be bomber. Blowing the Fed sky high would interrupt things a bit but surely, all the records are backed-up offsite. If 0bama had a son, I think he'd look a little like Quazi.

No doubt the Obama White House would report to the nation that this guy is just another wayward movie critic if they thought that they could get away with that in order to further cover for the perpetrators of radical Islamic jihad who are continuously attempting to attack the USA.
The article says that this guy plotted to kill Obama, but apparently his mission was to bomb a big bank in New York. Now everybody knows that Obama hates big New York banks, so the chances of Obama being in the vicinity of that bank giving a campaign speech are remote.
This guy's chances of coming anywhere near Obama would be much better at a college or university where Obama always gives his speeches, blowing smoke at know nothing college students like this naive radical Islamist terrorist.
And the Obama State Dept. gave this guy a student visa to study cyber security in the USA?????

Throwing in the assassination bit seems to be an afterthought. What I want to know is, why does the FBI, CIA and other security/intelligence factions have to set up a Sting Operation to catch these terrorists. It seems they have a hand in all ends of the act from securing the elements to create bombs to helping secure methods of delivery. Loads of 'fishy' smell to all of this. They knew about most of those involved in 9-11, but what was done to hinder that?

#25: I agree. I also question the timing of this thing. It knocked the debate off the front page during the time of analysis and fact check. So far nobody has done the big article laying out how Romney told a bunch of untruths. Obama lied through his teeth, but Romney didn't.
So, now they're just talking about this would be puppet ... I mean terrorist.

#8 & 23 - I don't know how they think, but I do know that we don't think like them and they don't think like us. You cannot use common logic when trying to understand what goes through the brain of a terrorist. You might as well ask why do islamists kill each other? Because it is what they do is about the only answer that fits.

I heard someone on FoxNews this a.m. saying that when we had a strike against us in Libya during the Reagan administration that within 10 days, Reagan ordered the bombing of Gaddafi's compound.... and Reagan never heard a peep from Gaddafi after that. When Obama had OBL killed, he created a martyr, but of course, he never looked that far ahead to see just what the unintended consequences of his action would be. Now these people just have an additional reason to blame the USA for their hatred.

I don't believe the story that Obama was also a target for a minute.
Someone with a lot of money and an interest in manipulating US politics made...and probably financed...the plan to strike the Federal Reserve Bank. Had it succeeded, the damage to the US economy would have been significant. It could have been a game-changer, motivating voters to not switch Presidents.
It would seem to me to be totally illogical that Obama was also a target...

The new research shows that an isolated reef off the northwest coast of Australia that was severely damaged by a period of warming in 1998. It was hit by coral bleaching, caused by higher water temperatures that break down the coral´s symbiotic relationship with algae that provide food for coral growth.

As the US and China grow increasingly involved, Kim Jong-un must be brought into line if war is not to be triggered by an act of recklessness. There are two schools of thought about what lies behind North Korea’s increasingly frenzied posturing. The first goes like this: the rhetoric emanating from Pyongyang--including calls to “break the waists of the crazy enemies [and] totally cut their windpipes”--is no worse than their decades-old ritualistic promises to turn South Korea into a “sea of fire”. What we are witnessing, according to this theory, is nothing more than an inexperienced leader

Anyone who remembers the halcyon dreams of the 1990s, of civil society spreading the world over, heralding a new peaceful, global millennium, must marvel at the path the young 21st century has taken. Even those who paid attention to global Jihad before the millennium could not imagine how vulnerable the West would prove in the coming, wildly asymmetrical war. Those who, over the course of the last 13 years, have awakened to the ever-growing danger of Islamism and to the astonishing inability of decent people--Muslims and non-Muslims--to effectively oppose its aggressions, owe themselves a brief lesson in cognitive warfare, and

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air.
