It’s the future, stupid. If the test of last night’s showdown is whether President Obama was more aggressive and energetic than he was in the first debate, then he wins the Comeback Kid award. But if the standard is who is more focused and better prepared to create jobs and improve the American economy in the next four years, then the winner was Mitt Romney. He looks and sounds increasingly like a man who is ready to take on the enormous challenges of being president.
Debate prep by Candy Crowley and assistance during the debate, by Candy Crowley! Odd are he had the questions and the order they would be asked. The Libya question / response was choreographed with her in advance. This guy has been enabled all his life - it will be a great fall from power. Watch out for hundreds of executive orders between Nov. 7 and January 19!
Agree, having the transcript of Obama's Rose Garden speech is very suspicious..Obama said "read the transcript, read the transcript"..he KNEW in advance. Seeing Obama in action, following seeing Biden in action convinces me that democrats made it impossible for any sort of bi-partisan work in Congress. They are "my way or the highway"..something that started with Pelosi and will end with Obama the Emperor's exit from office.
According to Pizza the Hutt's on explanation after the debate she claims to have studied up on Libya in her debate prep in anticipation of a question. However, regardless of what the truth is she looked like (and is) a partisan hack people will be talking about this for days. Another exploding cigar!
Romney wins every time he gets to pound Obama's woeful record to millions of Americans. You get people identifying with the person who is telling them what they know is true for them. It is powerful stuff and Obama has spent a whole lot of time and effort trying to distract. Hopefully it will not work.
In a pair of columns released Monday and Tuesday, Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock voiced his belief that rap music and its widespread use of the N-word were major factors in Trayvon Martin’s death. Whitlock, an African-American, certainly doesn’t believe that rap and N-word use were the only things to blame. “Although I believe the jury reached the only logical conclusion based on the trial, I’m highly disappointed Zimmerman was not held criminally responsible for following Martin, ignoring police instructions and shooting a 17-year-old kid after losing a fight his pursuit instigated,” he wrote.
As far as the Trayvon Martin situation goes, acquittal or no acquittal, the whole event and subsequent trial is a tragedy. And Skittles and iced tea or not, 17-year-old Trayvon should never have been lurking about in a hoodie between buildings on a dark rainy night in a townhouse complex. Now, regardless of how or why this boy died, a child is dead and will never have an opportunity to grow out of the typical youthful foolishness which ultimately cost him his life. And for every hoodie-wearing thug out there who´s now blaming George Zimmerman for Trayvon´s death,
Profiting from the death of a child is sick and disgusting. Unfortunately, this describes the circle of exploiters promoting the Trayvon Martin traveling show after his death in February 2012. And if you´re Trayvon´s parents, there´s nothing like having the president, the attorney general, the state attorney general, several civil rights lawyers, and invested others to help you in your campaign. Shame on Sybrina Fulton, Tracy Martin, the State of Florida, the lawyers, and all the vultures picking a dead kid´s bones clean for a lousy buck and political points.
WASHINGTON — Say what you want about President Obama but you got to give the guy credit. He finally discovered the holy grail for dislodging the bloated ranks of federal workers from their jobs. Force them into Obamacare! According to a report in Politico Thursday, lawmakers and their staff all over Capitol Hill are heading for the exits. Turns out, they can endure the toxic air of politics, slavishly long hours, dinky offices and lecherous lawmakers creeping up and down the halls. But one thing they simply will not abide?
The @Large Conference held recently in Baton Rouge, Louisiana brought people together from around the country to discuss issues related to black conservatives. In a time when the GOP is talking ´outreach´, the conference was an important first step in the Republican party reclaiming its heritage as the party of individual rights, colorblind justice and equality of opportunity. The panelists and speakers also showed that many black conservatives are right in line with the new generation of Republican rabble-rousers like the late Andrew Breitbart, pushing against the radical left and the GOP establishment with fierce conviction.
Former Representative Colonel Allen West, a staunch fighter against Islamists, was infuriated by Bill Cosby’s op-ed in the weekend’s New York Post advising Americans to be more like Muslims. West tweeted on Monday: “2day in NY Post, Bill Cosby said we should b more like Muslims, U mean honor killings, beheadings, suicide bombings? Hope ur kidding sir.” Cosby had written this: I’m a Christian. But Muslims are misunderstood. Intentionally misunderstood
Sarah Palin showed on Saturday she never forgets her roots, saying she was honored to address high school graduates in a small town in Washington that helped her father 49 years ago when his station wagon broke down on his way to Alaska. Speaking at Republic High School´s graduation, Palin said she was honored to address the 27 graduating seniors at the high school in the small town of Republic, Washington. She movingly spoke about her father who grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho,
The debate was over, but John McCain wasn’t done. After he threw down with a trio of younger Republican colleagues he has dubbed the “wacko birds,” McCain proceeded to walk around the Senate floor, ranting about the interchange to individual senators. McCain was incensed that Senators Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Mike Lee have been blocking Democratic majority leader Harry Reid from appointing Senate members to a conference committee for the budget resolution. During the debate, McCain “basically accused Lee of being an idiot,” as one aide put it.
A less-than-surprising look into the world of workers’ rights reveals that one union boss is under fire for either being too fat, too lazy, too over-paid or on too many painkillers (from being too fat), depending on who you ask. Mark Rosenthal, president of Local 983 of District Council 37, is accusing political rivals of trying to run him out of his $156,000-a-year-plus-perks job overseeing about 3,000 low-paid workers and officers involved in the Parks Department and NYPD, The New York Post reports.
After a good amount of hoopla, Texas Governor Rick Perry is expected to quietly sign legislation allowing public schools to celebrate Christmas and other winter holidays plainly and explicitly without fear of lawsuits. The proposed law, dubbed the “Merry Christmas Bill,” sailed easily through both the Texas House and Senate and now awaits the Perry’s signature, reports the Dallas Observer. Vote tallies were 145-2 in the House and 29-0 in the Senate. With Perry’s signature, the law will take effect beginning in fall 2013 — roughly 120 shopping days before Christmas.
True the Vote is not only suing the IRS, but also taking action against the IRS employees who participated in the harassment of the voter education and election monitoring organization. Those employees could personally be held liable to pay damages that would be established in litigation. True the Votes’ lead counsel, Cleta Mitchell, explained in an email to The Daily Caller that she does not know whether the employees, if found to be liable in the lawsuit True the Vote filed against the IRS and its employees
Glenn Beck delivered the keynote address at this year’s NRA convention in Houston, Texas, yesterday. The radio and TV host began broadcasting live from Houston Friday, offering up his own conspiracy theory about the previous day’s Houston airport suicide. “We have to admit two things,” Beck told the crowd. “That weapons will always find their way into the hands of bad people, always…but we must declare this: that guns must remain in the hands of good people.”
He thought he was a woman trapped in a man’s body — but it turns out he’s “just another boring straight guy.” ABC News editor Don Ennis strolled into the newsroom in May wearing a little black dress and an auburn wig and announced he was transgender and splitting from his wife. He wanted to be called Dawn. But now he says he suffered from a two-day bout of amnesia that has made him realize he wants to live his life again as Don. “I accused my wife of playing some kind of cruel joke, dressing
The truth about Benghazi, the Associated Press/James Rosen monitoring, the IRS corruption, the NSA octopus, and Fast and Furious is still not exactly known. Almost a year after the attacks on our Benghazi facilities, we are only now learning details of CIA gun-running, military stand-down orders, aliases of those involved who are still hard to locate, massaged talking points, and the weird jailing of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. We still do not quite know why Eric Holder’s Justice Department went after the Associated Press or Fox News’s James Rosen — given that members of the administration were themselves illegally leaking
WASHINGTON — Former Massachusetts lawmaker Barney Frank revealed that he doesn’t believe in God. During Friday’s appearance on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher,” Frank, who championed the decriminalization of pot while serving in the House of Representatives, admitted to smoking marijuana and being an atheist. “You were in a fairly safe district. You were not one of those congress people who would have to worry about every little thing,” Maher said to Frank. “You could come on this show and sit next to a pot-smoking atheist and it wouldn’t bother you.”
Washington--As hundreds of commuters emerged from Amtrak and commuter trains at Union Station on a recent morning, an armed squad of men and women dressed in bulletproof vests made their way through the crowds. The squad was not with the Washington police department or Amtrak’s police force, but was one of the Transportation Security Administration’s Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response squads — VIPR teams for short — assigned to perform random security sweeps to prevent terrorist attacks at transportation hubs across the United States.(Snip)With little fanfare, the agency best known for airport screenings has vastly expanded its reach
A poll released Friday by Public Policy Polling found that Alaska voters would pick former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the state´s former Republican governor, Sarah Palin, if the two women were to face off in the 2016 presidential election. Clinton led with 49 percent in the hypothetical match-up, with Palin at 40 percent, a nine-point gap. As of July 3, Republicans comprised 27 percent of the state´s registered voters and Democrats made up just 14 percent. The last time Alaskans opted for the Democrats´ presidential candidate was in 1964. Clinton trails five other hypothetical GOP candidates –
In an interview for The Guardian Weekend magazine, actor Matt Damon recently weighed in with his thoughts on how President Barack Obama has handled the scandals that have engulfed his administration since the spring. Damon, a vocal supporter of the president since his 2008 campaign for national office, said that Obama is overcompensating for his lack of military background with his tough response to controversies like how the government is responding to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden. The actor said that Obama is allowing himself to “get bullied” and is acting as though is “manhood”
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus threatened to pull the group’s partnership with NBC and CNN for 2016 GOP presidential primary debates if the networks moved ahead with plans to air films on Hillary Clinton. “If they have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor,” Preibus said in a statement. In individual letters to CNN President Jeff Zucker and NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt,
The Pentagon has placed its elite cadre of special operations teams on full alert to launch preemptive attacks against suspected al Qaeda targets across the globe, according to reports. The American special forces teams have spent the past week waiting for U.S. military and intelligence officials to confirm the whereabouts of the terror cell plotting to attack U.S. diplomatic outposts in the Mideast and North Africa. Unnamed sources told CNN on Monday that the teams were poised to carry out the preemptive strikes, but declined to comment on where the U.S. forces were located or which potential
WASHINGTON — U.S. officials insisted Tuesday that extraordinary security measures for nearly two dozen diplomatic posts were to thwart an “immediate, specific threat,” a claim questioned by counterterrorism experts, who note that the alert covers an incongruous set of nations from the Middle East to an island off the southern coast of Africa. Analysts don’t dispute the Obama administration’s narrative that it’s gleaned intelligence on a plot involving al Qaida’s most active affiliate, the Yemen-based Arabian Peninsula branch. That would explain why most U.S. posts in the Persian Gulf are on lockdown, including the U.
Oprah Winfrey on Monday said the killings of Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till are the "same thing." This transpired during an interview with The Grio that aired on NBC´s Today show. OPRAH WINFREY: It´s so easy during this time: Trayvon Martin, Trayvon Martin parallel to Emmett Till, let me just tell you. In my mind, same thing. But you can, you can get stuck in that and not allow yourself to move forward and to see how far we´ve come. Really? Martin and Till are the same thing?
In an exclusive interview for The Grio, NBCUniversal’s African-American news and opinion website, Oprah Winfrey weighed in with her unvarnished thoughts on the killing of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of George Zimmerman. Winfrey said that, in her mind, Martin’s murder and that of Emmett Till in 1955 – whose killers were also acquitted – were the “same thing.” However, she added that it is important to keep in mind how much race relations in America have progressed over the last half-century. In a clip of the interview which aired on NBC’s Today, Oprah told The Grio’s Chris
Two Republican senators said Tuesday that they´ve personally urged the Egyptian government to release Muslim Brotherhood prisoners, after hosting meetings with top officials in Cairo as part of an Obama administration-sanctioned visit. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who is in Cairo along with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-.S.C., made clear that the two U.S. lawmakers are representing the views of Congress and "do not speak for the White House." Still, they are among the most prominent U.S. representatives in the country this week, as a wave of international mediators tries to nudge the country´s military-backed government to resolve the standoff
