| Taking a daily multivitamin pill can lower the risk of cancer, says the first study of its kind. Regular use for more than 10 years cuts the chances of men developing the disease by eight per cent – a modest but worthwhile reduction, claim researchers. They cannot identify a single vitamin or combination that works, but say the benefit comes from a broad combination of low dose vitamins. The US study only involved men so the same effect cannot be assumed for women, but experts believe it is likely to be similar. Almost 15,000 doctors took part in the study

Soon to be contradicted by people who don't want you taking a simple vitamin like your government and pharmaceutical companies who can't profit from increased vitamins as they can from expensive prescription drugs. That is unless fools in our Congress AGAIN push making all vitamins above the FDA recommended dosage "drugs."

I have taken some form of a daily multivitamin for about 20 yrs. Now I take One-A-Day Women's since it has extra calcium. I swear I feel almost sluggish when I ran out of them a couple times.

I am seriously starting to believe that it is more about the concsiousness of doing something (a practice or habit) with the intention of having good health (means probably, these people are more "aware" in other areas, such as diet) than it has to do with a simple pill.
Not that a multi vitamin isnt a good idea, I think they are...but the action of doing something like this for your health everyday may have more of an impact (mind over matter) than what is in the vitamin itself.
All supplements are not equal and not all are aborbed properly.
Two cents.

Unfortunately, OP's comments are correct, I fear. Multi-vitamins are like an "insurance policy" against malnutrition (maybe too strong a word) -- but if you're not eating something that you should, the vites are a sort of backup to make sure you get whatever minerals and trace elements that are missing from what you are eating regularly.
Skeptical of any "studies" like this one; coffee is good for you, then you see another that concludes coffee is bad. Vitamin "X", or trace element baloneyum causes something bad, then another study concludes that it's good for you, etc.

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

The one clear thing that came out of last week´s chaotic activity in Boston, Massachusetts is that real reporters were missing. For that matter, they´ve been missing since last year´s attack in Benghazi. From Benghazi, the Gosnell abortion trial, gun control debates, immigration and then the Boston Marathon bombings, television news reporting has become positively painful to watch. The First Amendment to the Constitution grants freedom of the press but this was supposed to endow it with a responsibility to be the people´s watchdog. The modern Fourth Estate represented by the mainstream media has made a mockery of this privilege.
