Barack Obama did
what he had to do

BBC News [UK], by Mark Mardell

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 10/17/2012 5:37:59 AM

The absent warrior has returned. President Obama redeemed himself. This was a different format to the first debate, and it could have been a different president on stage. Undecided New York voters asked the questions and got strong, clear statements of policy from both candidates. It is not so much that Obama won, as that he didn't lose this time. He did what he had to, and perhaps some more. He was confident, combative and strong. Supporters will feel that he's back. Mitt Romney's supporters won't be disappointed either. He put in a solid performance, nearly as good as last time

While Mardell, not unexpectedly, gives the debate to Obama, even he questions the terror moment, both for its lack of specificity and its defense by Crowley.

Given that Romney had to debate two people and Obamao only had to debate one person it's rather amazing that they still came out tied.

Of course O got credit for being awake.

Mitt needs to make a commercial of Candy stating she made a mistake and that Romney was right after all.

I'm sick and tired of having to fight the media as well.

Remember the SNL skit where they portrayed the media asking BO if he'd like a pillow??? It's reality.

Warrior? No, more like wuss! He even needed Cowley to give CPR! 0 was aggressive while taking his beating, and last time he was passive. But, he still took a beating.

Romney won both debates. The polls will show that in a few days. 0bama's last stand will be on Monday, and he will be violent, but Romney will still win.

Romney came out ahead on the issues that matter, the economy and leadership.

Congressional Republicans, led by House Oversight Committee chair Darrell Issa, are planning another IRS coal-raking exercise for Wednesday, hauling the tax agency´s commissioner in for a hearing about the nearly year-old tea party targeting scandal. [Snip] An aide to one Republican committee member said Monday that the White House and the Treasury Department were already dangerously close to causing a constitutional crisis. ´They´ve blown off the subpoenas,´ the aide said, referring to legal demands the committee issued to the IRS on August 2 and February 14. ´If the DOJ keeps dragging its heels too, and can just get away with it,

The Law Society’s decision to issue a practice note to solicitors who may be interested in drafting “Sharia-compliant” wills for their Muslim clients is shocking. [Snip] The idea of equality before the law is being dangerously undermined. In Britain, unless you draw up a will, your estate on death will be distributed according to the rules of intestacy. I accept that people can do whatever they want with their assets, and it has always been the case that a lawyer must follow the client’s instructions. But this guidance legitimises discrimination towards women, “illegitimate” and adopted children, and non-Muslim partners or

When journalists saw first lady Michelle Obama on Sunday during her visit to the Great Wall of China, the few photographers permitted to see the event were forbidden to shoot from an angle that would have produced an unfortunate photo, framing her and her family with a decades-old rock sculpture that reads ´loyal to Chairman Mao.´ Instead, photojournalists were forced to remain on a Wall tower between Mrs. Obama and the 1,300-foot-wide carving, making that photo impossible to take. ´Photographers and reporters covering the visit were sent ahead to Tower 15´ on the Wall, according to a pool report, ´and told they

Barack Obama swooped into the Crimea crisis today in a desperate bid to rescue the region from all-out war as advancing Russian troops strong-armed Ukraine to order its remaining soldiers home. Making a dramatic entrance, The U.S. President touched down in Amsterdam in a military helicopter, flanked by a squadron of battle-green gunships, to press Europe´s leaders to further punish Russia for annexing the peninsular, including the possible exclusion of Moscow from the G8 club of rich nations. U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama kept up her charm offensive in China by visiting the site of the terracotta warriors--but briefly talked about politics calling on the Chinese government to open up the internet to all of its citizens. The First Lady, along with daughters Sasha 12, and Malia 15, watched a folk dance by local performers during her visit to the City Wall, in Xi´an, Shaanxi province and later joined in by dancing and skipping rope, much to the delight of her Chinese hosts. Malaysia´s prime minister has announced that missing flight MH370 crashed in the southern Indian Ocean. Najib Razak said this was the conclusion of fresh analysis of satellite data tracking the flight. Malaysia Airlines had told the families of the 239 people on board, he said. Earlier the BBC saw a text message sent to families by the airline saying it had to be assumed "beyond reasonable doubt" that the plane was lost and there were no survivors. The National Security Agency began targeting Huawei in early 2009 and quickly succeeded in gaining access to the company´s client lists and email archive, German weekly Der Spiegel reported, citing secret U.S. intelligence documents leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney said Sunday that President Barack Obama is naive when it comes to Russia, has shown "faulty judgment" about Moscow´s intentions and could have done more to try to deter its annexation of Crimea. The 2012 Republican presidential nominee said Obama didn´t have the foresight to anticipate Russia´s moves and should have been working earlier with allies to make clear the penalties that Russia would face if it moved into Ukraine. Romney did acknowledge that such steps may not have been enough though to hold back Russia President Vladimir Putin. "Had we communicated those things, there´s always

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

That goes beyond hypocritical, and I think the American media and the international media has every right to call her and the Obama administration on that — that they permitted that to happen,” said Tom Whalen, a political history professor at Boston University. “It makes you shake your head, albeit sadly.” The first lady stopped at Peking University in Beijing yesterday
