The crisis of leadership in American government is easily explained: thanks to a flawed presidential primary system that rewards strident rhetoric and hyper-partisanship, candidates tailor their messages to fringe elements in small, unrepresentative states. The result? A nasty, shallow and expensive process that rewards sound bites rather than solutions and gamesmanship instead of ideas. This year, however, we have witnessed a rare phenomenon in American politics. A candidate has emerged from the rough and tumble of the primaries with his dignity intact. The system has produced not a demagogue but a manager,

~~Mitt Romney stands out because—unlike so many candidates in the past—he understands how to build businesses, create efficiencies, make tough deals and carefully consider divergent viewpoints. America needs a strong leader, a practical leader.~~

Pretty well says it all!!

"True, Mr. Obama deserves credit for strong, decisive action that helped prevent a catastrophic economic meltdown on Wall Street. The financial services sector, the city’s most important industry, came very close to the unthinkable as once-unshakable entities—Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch—simply vanished. Mr. Obama’s policies helped to shore up the industry and, thus, the city." What??????

Interesting. It's kinda weird... the Dallas Morning News is totally liberal ... they follow the dem party line on everything. It's been particularly noticeable during the Libya attack and aftermath.

Yet a couple of weeks ago they endorsed Romney on their editorial page.

The endorsements are nice, but I'd prefer honest news reporting.

I think this is an important endorsement and almost an admission that some in the aiding and abetting Old Media are weary of covering up for the man who plans to erase America the Beautful and its freedom for all.

What really concerns me is what happens when Obamas enforcers do when they realize that simple BS isn't working anymore, and that they will lose in a fair election. This party has abused presidential edicts and administrative power. What will our spineless leaders do if O simply bulls his way through via DOJ lawsuits and presidential declarations and refuses to admit defeat? Who forcibly moves him, his family and his his personal guards? Just think about it. "I did not lose. I will not leave. My SS guard has orders to shoot to kill anyone who dares making me leave."

But, this is an important editorial, because the editors take pains to explain why now, the better candidate for growth out of the mire, is Romney.

But Romney gets this endorsement because he is “not an ideologue”, and is “a moderate to the core”. Ouch. These are not attributes I want in Romney, but it’s OK because the newspaper and I interpret the same events differently. What the NYO sees as a good “manager” supporting Wall St. (NYO did not like Obama slamming Wall St.) I do see as ideology – support for capitalism, small government, etc.

If we get 8 years of Romney and 8 years of Ryan, do you think the culture of the country can change for the better and we can become more sensible and realistic? Can we overcome all the schools and colleges left wing brainwashing of our younger people? Will the media, culture and Hollywood change to at least partially center? Can we be America again? Will we defend ourselves from Islamofascism and socialism? Will we wake up? Can we toss the terrorists in our midst out of the country and stop mosques and Islamic centers being built in our cities. What do you think is the biggest danger to our survival?

ALBANY — New York, whose status as the most populous state has long been ceded, will soon fall behind Florida into fourth place, a long-anticipated drop that is rife with symbolism and that could carry potentially serious economic consequences in coming years. When the Census Bureau releases its latest population estimates on Monday, demographers expect that Florida and New York will be narrowly separated — perhaps by as little as a few thousand people — and that if Florida does not pass New York this time, it almost certainly will do so in 2014. Dance to Beyonce 2. Eat your vegetables 3. Move into a massive new house with your family and invite your mother to move in

T ea Party activists and the conservative groups that have enforced their agenda are vehemently opposed to the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that will fund the government through September. On Wednesday evening, the House passed the bill anyway, 359 to 67, with plenty of votes to spare. Sixty-four of those no votes were from conservative Republicans. But it seems pretty clear from the vote tally that Tea Party–style "ideological purity has lost its power," says Jonathan Weisman in The New York Times. "The budget process that is culminating in the passage of the spending bill has ushered in a remarkable marginalization

A multi-billion-dollar high-speed train network linking America with Mexico moved a step closer as officials from both sides of the border thrashed out details. The proposed 300 mile route would link San Antonio, Texas, to Monterrey, Mexico - slashing the current journey time from five hours by car to under two hours. Advocates say the project, which would be the first high-speed train line in North America and is set to be completed by 2018, will provide huge economic boost to regions in both nations. This morning National Journal writer Ron Fournier opened a big can of worms when he asked this question: (Tweet -How does one oppose abortion and support executions? Discuss.) It always surprises me that otherwise intelligent people seem to struggle with the difference between abortion and capital punishment. Fortunately there were a swarm of people willing to take Fournier up on his offer to discuss the difference. Here are a few examples: (Tweets) A couple of folks pointed out that the question is rarely turned around in the other direction:

Have you ever lied about reading a book? Maybe you didn’t want to seem stupid in front of someone you respected. Maybe you rationalized it by reasoning that you had a familiarity with the book, or knew who the author was, or what the story was about, or had glanced at its Wikipedia page. Or maybe you had tried to read the book, even bought it and set it by your bed for months unopened, hoping that it would impart what was in it merely via proximity (if that worked, please email me). There’s a great poem by Joseph Bottum

The 2012 terrorist assault on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, involved attackers from several major international terrorist networks, according to a bipartisan Senate report released Wednesday that blames the intelligence community and the State Department — and Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens himself — for lapses.Mr. Stevens and three other Americans died in the attack, which the report by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence said could have been averted if the State Department had heeded numerous warnings. Harvey Weinstein has set his sights squarely on the National Rifle Association. The “Shakespeare in Love” producer told Howard Stern on his radio show Wednesday that the NRA is a “disaster area” before revealing a secret project. “I shouldn’t say this, but I’ll tell it to you, Howard,” he said. “I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this head-on. And they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them.” Weinstein said the movie was a feature length motion picture “like a ‘Mr. Smith Goes to Washington’” and that when people

Welcome to modern day governance in America! In this brave new world. vital legislation need not be read, or considered, or debated. Isn´t it enough that the leaders say vote for it and be done with it? Apparently, yes. The House approved the $1.1 trillion spending bill in near record time. The 1500 page bill contains all sorts of stuff that no one has a clue about because unless you´re a graduate of the Eveyln Wood speed reading course, you didn´t have much of a chance to study it. So the 359-67 rout of the forces of prudence and common sense is understandable in

(Video) Pennsylvania’s voter ID law, among the nation’s most stringent, was struck down Friday morning by a state judge. Commonwealth Court Judge Bernard L. McGinley ruled that the law, requiring almost all voters to present photo identification prior to voting, was an unreasonable burden on voters. He said the free voter ID that residents were entitled to under the law was insufficiently available, only at 71 drivers license centers located across the state. Several counties had no such centers and others were only open two days a week, leading McGinley to rule that the law “unnecessarily burden[s] the hundreds of thousands
