Former senator and Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern has entered hospice care in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the hospice center said on Monday in a statement approved by his family. McGovern, 90, who lost to Richard Nixon in the 1972 presidential election, was admitted to the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, part of Avera McKennan Hospice Services.

Like the man or not, at least he was honest about what he believed unlike the lying dins today. I pray he doesn't have to suffer much longer and that he has made peace with his Maker.

McGovern was a bomber pilot over Europe in WWII. He was a friend if the great writer of that war, Stephen E. Ambrose. Ambrose wrote of him in one of his books, and very carefully painted McGovern as one who shirked his duty (to put it delicately). Quelle surprize!

Gonna go with the consensus--he was a desperately wrong-headed liberal, but he was honest about it. I have a lot more sympathy for him than for your run-of-the-mill, intelectually dishonest, morally bankrupt lib.

McGovern went into business after the trouncing and rapidly learned the realities of regulation and taxes. He said if he had known this, he would have never taken some of the positions he took.
I give him credit for this. May his last retirement be peaceful and filled with friends and family.

Also, McGovern hasn['t made a nuisance of himself after his defeat, popping off with inappropriate things, like Jimmy Carter and Lurch Kerry. He gets credit for going gracefully too.

London, England - A new wealth tax is being proposed by the leftist wing (The Liberal Democrats) of our coalition government that will come with unprecedented powers to enter our homes and root through our personal possessions to value rings, necklaces, paintings and furniture, anything that might raise more taxes. Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta reportedly believes the military should receive a pay cut in order to respond to the budget cuts facing the Pentagon — a position that might strengthen the Republican push to reverse President Obama’s executive order raising the salary of Vice President Joe Biden and other federal officials. “Panetta will recommend to Congress that military salaries be limited to a one percent increase in 2014,” CNN reports, explaining that Panetta is “effectively decreasing troop salaries next year . . . The decision comes as the secretary is stepping up the rhetoric about dire cuts at the Pentagon if sequestration goes into effect.”

The dictionary tells us that a constitution is a law, or compilation of laws, determining the fundamental political principles of a government. The people of the United States have a constitution. Now, I know this will come as a shock to many, but we actually DO have a constitution, which was written at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 and subsequently ratified by the original thirteen states.

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) plans to introduce (or has already introduced) gun-control legislation in the 113th Congress, ostensibly to protect the lives of children, and to curb mass murders, like the one that occurred in Newtown, CT. At the same time, Feinstein is very pro-choice and supports taxpayer funding for abortions. She opposes bans on partial-birth abortion. Watertown, Mass.– A number of gun shots were fired near Franklin Street in Watertown Friday night and it was believed that suspect number 2 in the Boston Marathon bombings had been shot. FOX 25's Bob Ward reported that as many 30 shots were fired in the neighborhood. Ward reported that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the man known as suspect 2, was shot by police. It was not immediately known if Tsarnaev was killed. A bomb squad could be seen responding to the scene. A massive police presence was also in the area. So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate.
