From Bed Bugs to Micmacs: EPA Offers New Round of 'Environmental Justice' Grants

| Ladies and gentlemen, step right up to the public trough: The Environmental Protection Agency is seeking applicants who want a piece of the $1.5 million set aside for "environmental justice" grants to be awarded in 2013. The taxpayer money goes to non-profit and tribal groups that address health and environmental issues in minority, low-income, and indigenous communities. These places are "overburdened by harmful pollution," as the EPA phrases it. Applicants must be incorporated non-profits or tribal organizations that are working to "educate, empower and enable" their communities to understand and address local environmental and public health issues.
|
Comments: Once again we see the insanity coming from the leftists in the EPA. The special that Bret Baier did for Fox was disturbing to see how they are seeking to take away our freedoms all in the name of "social justice." These people are dangerous to our way of life.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), a leading member of the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” pushing immigration reform, has taken to using the term "undocumented" to describe illegal aliens. The term, which is not always accurate, is common on the left and frequently mocked on the right. During his charm offensive this weekend, in which he appeared on a record seven Sunday news programs to push his forthcoming immigration plan, Rubio called illegal aliens “undocumented” on a number of occasions (emphasis added, below).

The Company You Keep, the all-star drama from director Robert Redford, expands its theatrical run this weekend to include several new cities including Denver. Early reviews say the movie paints its main characters, former Weather Underground-style radicals forced to own up to their violent deeds, in a flattering light. The film´s producers couldn´t anticipate the theatrical expansion would come just days after a pair of domestic bombings in Boston left three dead and scores grievously wounded. Several film critics, who filed their reviews prior to the April 15 terrorist attack at the

President Obama will travel to Boston on Thursday to pay tribute to the families and victims impacted by the bombings in the New England city, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick said during a news conference Tuesday. Obama has publicly addressed the incident three times since the explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday. “On Thursday morning, the president will travel to Boston to speak at an interfaith service dedicated to those who were gravely wounded or killed in Monday’s bombing near the finish line of the Boston Marathon,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney

The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing Tuesday focused on controversies examined in a March 12, 2013 Office of Inspector General report on the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division Voting Section – including its leadership under Thomas Perez, Obama’s pick to head the Labor Department. Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee (D-Texas) said while she was pleased Congress had renewed the Voting Rights Act, the hearing into the Voting Section of DOJ’s Civil Rights Division was unnecessary and should have a different title. “I would only offer a caveat and suggest

With the Boston Marathon bombings less than 24 hours old, some on Capitol Hill are beginning to say the attack shows why Congress should’ve stopped automatic spending cuts from taking hold in March. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), speaking to reporters Tuesday morning, said the bombings are “clearly another place where it demonstrates why having the ability to address security concerns is important.” Hoyer added: “I think there are multiple reasons for ensuring that we invest in our security both domestic and international security. That we invest in the education of our children,

In the aftermath of Monday’s horrific events at the Boston Marathon, only one thing is certain — for the next week or so, our television screens will be filled with a creature known as the “terrorism expert.” But what exactly is a “terrorism expert” and what qualifies one to be one? Operational knowledge of an AK-47? Intimate familiarity with the Damascus bazaar? Fluency in Arabic? (But that would be profiling, wouldn’t it?) CNN has its own in-house terrorism expert in Peter Bergen, aka their “national security analyst.” Mr. Bergen popped up on Jake Tapper’s The Lead

Hunters should look to the skies, but not for canvasback ducks or fair weather. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will soon acquire “impressive new weapons to combat those who gun down deer and doves.” The animal-rights group plans to invest in airborne drones armed with video cameras, aiming to collect damning video footage of “any illegal activity, including drinking while in the possession of a firearm,” or evidence of maiming animals or use of spotlights and feed lures. On the potential shopping list: a remote-controlled CineStar Octocopter. “The talk is usually about

Sen. Marco Rubio’s plan for a 10- to 13-year path to citizenship for illegal immigrants is “consistent” with President Obama’s principles, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Monday. Mr. Carney’s comment suggested the president would sign off on the plan, but he cautioned that the White House would withhold support for any legislation until seeing the final language. Mr. Carney did say that the details of Mr. Rubio’s plan as reported so far are “consistent with the president’s position.” Mr. Rubio said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union with Candy Crowley” that an immigration reform plan

The Senate’s Gang of Eight on Tuesday released the details of a broad agreement to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws. The legislation would give provisional legal status to an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants and put them on a pathway to citizenship but only after a list of criteria for securing the U.S.-Mexico border are achieved. It sets goals of persistent surveillance in high-risk areas along the Southern border — sectors where more than 30,000 individuals are apprehended trying to enter the country illegally per year — and a 90-percent effectiveness rate for apprehensions in high-risk sectors.

Whitehall sources have revealed that the U.S. delegation at tomorrow’s service in St Paul’s Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz. Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle. In light of the explosions that have rocked Boston on Patriots’ Day, during the city’s annual marathon, NBC reporter Luke Russert took to Twitter to speculate that today’s horrific events could possibly be related to the 1993 government siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas — an incident often attached to conversations about “right-wing terrorism” and anti-government violence. “I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicle during Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993. Speculating on possible link,” Russert tweeted following the explosions.

MSNBC contributor Joy-Ann Reid told the host of Now, Alex Wagner, that she thought President Barack Obama’s response to the attack on the Boston Marathon on Monday was powerful and comforting in a way that President George W. Bush’s response to the attacks of September 11, 2001, was not. She accused Bush of being unavailable to the American people for the “first couple weeks” after the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
