A Presidency Squandered
National Review Online, by Victor Davis Hanson

The Obama narrative is that he inherited the worst mess in memory and has been stymied ever since by a partisan Congress — while everything from new ATM technology to the Japanese tsunami conspired against him. But how true are those claims? Barack Obama entered office with an approval rating of over 70 percent. John McCain’s campaign had been anemic and almost at times seemed as if it was designed to lose nobly to the nation’s first African-American presidential nominee. One-percenter magnates welcomed Obama. If Steve Wynn, Donald Trump, and Mort Zuckerman now blast Obama, just four years ago

Don't you just love it when a "true historian" comes forward and supplies one with a picture that "rings true" on so many notes?

Truth versus fiction...what's a person gonna do?

Ah, Hillary says "the fog of war" is to blame for the death of our Libyan people.

Reminds me that Bob Kerry, the MOH warrior, the former Senator, the former head of The New School, and a roaming pal of Bill Clinton, once used this line in relation to his military life.

I just don't know how to "connect the dots" anymore.

Perhaps "Princeton Patreaus" might remind us what Hillary said of his efforts some years ago: Something about "the suspension of belief" was it?

Suckers here and everywhere...and Prof. Hanson has them spotted for sure!

What as many voters as possible must be made to realize that this regime's failure has two sources. Amateurish ineptness is one and a strategic plan to give left wing ideology driven changes priority over economic recovery. The unprecedented economic misery was to be exploited for quicker and more severe leftward tilt.
If not stopped in its track on Nov 6 this plan will lay two hundred and fifty years of hard work to waste.

He accomplished much.

Destroyed our economy

Abandoned our allies

Left our national security in a shambles

That was his intention from the start.

Victor David Hanson is truly a national treasure. One of a handful of writers who saw the diabolical plot about to hatch and has never tried to sugar coat it- unlike the MSM's 'conservatives' that fell for some of the hope and change.

Obama's gravy train is suffering a derailment. The engine has jumped the track and in ultra slo-mo the cars behind are jackknifing one by one and piling into the wreckage. The end lounge car is scheduled to hit the pile on the evening of November 6.

The once long sleek 5 trillion dollar bullet train to utopia, full of his sycophants and adoring media, is being reduced to a 100 yard pile of scrap iron. We The People will be left to clear the right of way and we'll be lucky if the salvage brings a few million dollars.

The price of false prophets is not cheap these days!

Well,he did have the Conservative talk show hosts ragging on his heels and then, there was the Tea party hoodlums who kept thrusting the Constitution in his face. Don't forget Moochelle spending all that money on designer clothes and my God, who knew there were so many sand traps out there on the golf course? He had it hard, brother. Unfortunately, we had it worse.

A lot more will be squandered if he is re-elected. We have a mess domestically and in foreign affairs. We may have little left to fret about four years from now after a second term by the Great Divider.

All that Hanson writes is true, yet in spite of this you still see ditzbombs being interviewed by the media saying they can't make up their minds, they might still vote for Obama yaddah yaddah. If you haven't made up your mind by now or if you are still considering giving this obviously incompetent buffoon four more years, you either haven't been paying attention or you just don't have the mental capacity to make a wise decision, in which case you should do us all the favor of staying home on election day.

We think we have it worse? Consider our brave and wonderful volunteer troops.. fighting drugged, thug terrorists to keep us safe and free. They love us and America.. but we elected a Marxist/Islamist as their Commander-in-Chief.
A presidency squandered.. and much more.. the death of America and capitalism, western-civilization-humanity, and hope (yes, hope!).. unless we boot the entire Ozero Administration out on Nov. 6, we will shortly be following old Europe into Islam and Sharia Law.

The difference between Carter and Obama is that the media was honestly reporting how bad Carter was, just like what VDH wrote, years before the 1980 election. We all knew how horrible he was and what he'd done to the country. Today we have Moochelle out there telling the un-employed public we're, "in the middle of a huge recovery," and the MSM is right besider here, eating it up.

A great article that meticulously lays out the expectations and the wealth of positive circumstances that BO began his presidency with.

The results are wreck, ruin, and deception and corruption of the worst kind. If BO was running Bain Capital ALL the companies would have gone out of business and all the investors would have lost their money. All the ex employees would be dead from cancer. As Romney said, BO picks all losers.

The tragic scope of this presidency is vastly deepened by the heights from which it fell. BO's campaign wants us to think that BO started from a Woe-is-me situation but VDH shows us that it's just not true. BO started his presidency with a silver spoon in his mouth and now his presidency is destitute.

And none of it is BO's fault.

And amazingly enough, his campaign is based on the idea that he is doing the right things and he just needs a little more time for things to turn around.

This election is a referendum on how stupid the electorate is. If BO is reelected, the majority of people are morons.

The redacted Imposter in Chief is the perfect president for the American Communist Party, that is. There are no Communists complaining about the agitation, agitprop, performance of this pathetic Marxian Islamist currently in the White House, along with his covert commie cell comrades. Accomplished with 24/7 aid of a sick, greed addicted Congress, the Diane Sawyers of TV's Mafia Media, and statist NYTimes. Also, fawning Hollywood, the George Clooneys, acting traitor-like in these grim times. Why do "1%" stars betray their own fans? New Media is in full force with Brietbart, Lucianne, Drudge, talk radio, breakout books, & more. Good News: Now We Get More Bad (REAL) News fast!. Even confused FoxTVNews helps. Clint and Jon Voight speak for the spirit of past greats John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, Ayn Rand and Elia Kazan. Despite the garbage from WH Beltway TV media, the truth is getting to larger audiences of Ron Paul free market, Tea Party, libertarian, anti communist, real conservatives, bikers. Real America is there, and just possibly this vote will be a landslide victory to end the insanity. America's genius is not lost, no matter how convincing the corrupt Courics, Brokaws, Pelleys, Piers, Lettermans, Oprahs, Coopers, lyingly make it out to be. Perfect time for one of TV's most overpaid brainwashers to burst out of the closet screaming, "I can't lie anymore, I can no longer not tell the truth, it's driving me crazy, my parents, my kids all hate me for what I'm doing for big money." Imagine Diane Sawyer, "Queen of All Lying", doing it with genius husband by her side. Naaah. End of rant.

“A presidency squandered” by our slaphappy, shortsighted, surreptitious, socialistic squanderer. Indeed!

According to BHO, during Debate #1 his behavior was just his way of being “polite.” It seems rather odd how his way of being “polite” closely resembles that of most people being in a stupor.

Obama was on recreational drugs before the first debate. Nothing more complicated than that.

He needed a little puff to bolster his swolen ego, to steady his nerves. Might be a little more difficult to oppose Romney without it. No worries, he's still the Obama!

I do wonder why with all of the vetting that should have been done, the attendance by his worship at the wedding in 1999 should have stood out like a sore thumb.
Final comment, VDH is one of the classiest commentors on the History Scene. Charles Krauthamer should take lessons, Victor doesn't waffle, cover his bases, he merely gets the facts before the public.

This is all about 90 degrees off kilter. Obama has succeeded in most of what he has attempted. The only question left is has he baffled enough people long enough to achieve a second term when he will complete his socialist transformation. Obama will only have squandered his presidency if he is defeated and his policies reversed.

In more than a decade of campaigns for the California Legislature, San Francisco mayor and secretary of state, state Sen. Leland Yee raised in excess of $5 million. Yet it was a campaign debt only a fraction of that amount that federal officials allege pulled the veteran politician into a sprawling sting operation. The 137-page FBI affidavit against Yee and more than 20 other defendants says the San Francisco Democrat’s focus on retiring a $70,000 campaign debt from his unsuccessful 2011 mayor’s race and raising money for his 2014 candidacy for secretary of state led him to accept bribes in return

Last week, the FBI received a lot of attention and praise from conservative sources for finally eliminating the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) from its website’s list of “hate crimes” resources. However, while a headline at Breitbart says the FBI “dumps [SPLC] as hate crimes resource,” and an article at The Daily Caller said the FBI was “breaking ties” with the SPLC, a public statement from the FBI and the agency’s own website indicate the removal may mean just that — removal from the site, not a diminishing of the relationship between the two organizations. Fear of flying is irrational but often incurable. Once the doors close on the cabin there is no escape. Your life is in the hands of the pilots together with the most complex machine ever devised for travel. You have no control. The requirement for you to submit to confinement is reinforced by accepting the first bag of peanuts. Irrational? Just look at the numbers. Last year 1.3 million

A National Labor Relations Board official has given the green light to Northwestern University football players to form a union. The March 26 decision by the NLRB´s Chicago regional director, Peter Sung Ohr, held that scholarship football players are "employees" for purposes of federal labor law. Ohr rejected the longstanding view of Northwestern and the National Collegiate Athletic Association that players are "student-athletes" rather than employees. While Ohr´s decision is hardly the final word on this issue, it does accelerate the legal and political battle against the NCAA and its century-old amateurism rules. Is Football Academic? They worry that a cacophony of public statements vouching for accusers and demanding justice can sway military judges and jurors who are trained to take lawful orders. A military judge already has ruled that “unlawful command influence” infected the infamous case of an Army general charged with a string of sex offenses. “I think it’s troublesome when you have the president and the secretary of defense making certain pronouncements about what’s to

Las Vegas - Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the 2016 presidential race, courting him and his intimates and starting talks on fundraising strategy. Concerned that the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal has damaged New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s political standing and alarmed by the steady rise of Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), prominent donors, conservative leaders and longtime operatives say they consider Bush the GOP’s brightest hope to win back the White House.

A "vast majority" of Mitt Romney donors, establishment pooh-bahs, and an anti-conservative consultant who is the epitome of permanent political class want former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to run for president in 2016. Bush was in Las Vegas this week meeting with Sheldon Adelson, and, according to the Post, "many if not most of 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s major donors are reaching out to Bush and his confidants with phone calls, e-mails and invitations to meet." One bundler even said that a "vast majority” of "Romney’s top 100 donors would back Bush." The Post also noted that in the meantime "Bush’s

If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.

I have no objections to Jeb Bush running for president. He obviously has a wide appeal as a potential candidate. (Snip) His support of Common Core, however, will also find many who are in the conservative ranks objecting, since they fear that Common Core represents educational centralism and having the government ram federal standards down their throats. What I do object to is that Bush is already being heralded as the obvious candidate, the man to whom the big money must and will flow. As the Washington Post reports: Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a

President Bill Clinton´s guilty conscience over his affair with Monica Lewinsky – and a desire to repair his shattered reputation by using the State of the Union address – set his speechwriters an unenviable task, newly released archive papers reveal. The former president appeared to be trying to butter up his wife, Hillary Clinton, out of guilt – or perhaps to fool her – before the scandal broke. And he was determined to try to convince the American public afterwards that he was still of a high moral character. The latest batch of documents from the Clinton Library covering his presidency in the

Former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey thinks President Barack Obama, a fellow Democrat, was re-elected in 2012 because he ´sucked less´ than former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The Nebraskan straight-talker told MailOnline in an exclusive interview that Obama isn´t up to the job of bringing liberals and conservatives to the table to rescue America´s slowly choking entitlement programs. And Obama, he said Wednesday in his Manhattan office, knew full well he was lying when he promised that the Affordable Care Act would allow Americans to keep insurance plans they liked. ´He had to know he was misleading the audience,´ Kerrey said

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and throughout the world’s oceans, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that the problem is likely to grow substantially worse unless greenhouse emissions are brought under control. The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group that periodically summarizes climate science, concluded that ice caps are melting, sea ice in the Arctic is collapsing, water supplies are coming under stress, heat waves and heavy rains are intensifying, coral reefs are dying, and fish and many other creatures are migrating toward the poles or

President Obama’s Department of Homeland Security caught then released 68,000 aliens who had previously been convicted of a crime, a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies shows. The report, provided to Breitbart News ahead of its late Sunday evening release, reviews internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) metrics to conclude that the Obama administration released 35 percent—or 68,000—convicted criminal aliens back into the U.S. general population when they could have been deported. (Snip) In response to these findings from CIS that follow up on his office’s report last week, Sessions said immigration law in America has essentially ceased to

Today sees the release of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change´s (IPCC) latest findings on the state of "global warming" and the news isn´t good. Here are some of the highlights: Giant malarial mosquitoes the size of crane flies may descend en masse and drain us of our blood so quickly with their powerful razor sharp probosces that we won´t even have time to be infected - we´ll be dead before we hit the floor; Bangladesh, Tuvalu, The Maldives and Florida will all be submerged; Four horsemen with skulls for faces, glowing red eyes and huge scythes will gallop across
