Thanks for joining us on such relatively short notice, late on a Tuesday evening. You know that since the beginning, we’ve been working with Congress on trying to ascertain the facts and convey the facts of what happened on 9/11 in Benghazi. In the last 24 hours and in the next 24 hours, we’re going to be engaging with Congress, and we wanted to give you a sense, in the press, of what we’ve been telling them.

We have seen some excerpts from the State Department's conference call between "two Senior State Department Officials" and selected media representatives. This is the full transcript.
As we all know, the House Oversight Committee was holding its scheduled hearing on Benghazi the next morning and had subpoenaed two State Department officials - Patrick Kennedy and Charlene Lamb - to testify.

My OP comments should have included that at the time of this conference call, the DoS knew that Erik Nordstrom, the Regional Security Officer (for Libya) and Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, who had been head of the special security force for Libya, would testify at the House Oversight Committee hearing the next day. Both Nordstrom and Wood had requested more security for volatile Libya and were critical of the withdrawal of security from Benghazi.

Singer Beyonce and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter traveled to Cuba “pursuant to an educational exchange trip” organized by an authorized company, the U.S. Treasury Department said in response to inquiries from Florida lawmakers. The trip by the celebrity couple spurred widespread media coverage after two U.S. representatives from Florida, Republicans Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, asked the Treasury who approved the travel and for what purpose. U.S. law prohibits financial transactions for tourist activities in Cuba to prevent funding of the government, which controls the industry. The Treasury permits visits for educational reasons.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has permanently revoked the federal firearms license of East Windsor, Conn., gun store owner David LaGuercia, whose shop reportedly sold guns used in the Newtown school massacre and a second Connecticut mass shooting. ATF spokeswoman Deb Seifert told The Journal News on Thursday that she could not be more specific on the reasons LaGuercia’s license was revoked. An autopsy on Shain Gandee, a cast member of the MTV reality show Buckwild, showed he died of carbon monoxide poisoning, the Kanawha County sheriff’s department said yesterday. The deaths of Gandee, 21, his uncle David Gandee, 48, and friend Donald Robert Myers, 27, on Monday morning were ruled accidental after coroners completed the autopsies.(Snip) The truck was found after the MTV star was reported missing by family members after a late-night session in a local bar.

Spain´s Princess Cristina has been summoned to appear in court over allegations that her husband misused millions of euros of public money. It is reported to be the first court summons for a direct descendant of the Spanish king. She is King Juan Carlos´s youngest daughter. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius conceded Monday that implementing the Affordable Care Act has been more complicated and frustrating than the Obama administration expected, largely due to Republicans who have opposed the law´s state-based exchanges and Medicaid expansion. "The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said.
