| SANFORD, Fla.—Seventeen-year-old Contessa Skelton learned that her mother had lost her job—for the second time in two years—as they stood in the parking lot outside her dentist’s office. Her mom told her the bad news. Together, they cried a little. “I was shocked,” Tessa says, about one year later. “I didn’t know what to think at first.” Her mother assured her that everything would be OK. Still, it was hard for Tessa to believe that after her mother’s employer, Remington Colleges, had given her all of one hour to clean out her desk—along with just a week of severance pay.

Comments: Another gift of the Obama Years. The chilllrreeen Obama doesn't care about, not compared to crony payoffs like Solyndra. May all of this end soon!

"her mother’s employer, Remington Colleges, had given her all of one hour to clean out her desk—along with just a week of severance pay."
Another fine example of shameful behavior that leads to unionization of employees. There's no good reason to treat people like this.

#3, a lot of employers do that to protect themselves from vengeful employees. A short notice keeps them from any kind of sabotage to company records, computer systems, property, etc.
Some people don't even get to pack up their desk. The other employees do it for them and send them their stuff back.

The pregnant 17-year old has started down the road to poverty. She'll be overwhelmed with the baby, and never join the Air Force or go to college. Then, she'll get hooked on the freebies for single mothers and end up a welfare queen.

#7, she better get some freebies quickly - we're broke and the chickens are coming home to roost thanks to a self-centered electorate over the last 60 years. I hope R & R can push out the day of reckoning by 6-7 years so I can be prepared, but it hasn't been pretty when other countries did it, and it won't be pretty when it happens here. I do hope everyone knows to blame the libtards (especially in the media and universities) when it comes time to clean house.

The problem is we don't prepare our children for tough economic times. Tough economic times are always ahead. You've got to be prepared to be unemployed at some point in the future. We can't go on in life assuming that someone else will always provide us with stable employment. Despite what politicians tell us, no one owes us a free college education or a job.

The young lady should have call the Fluck girl and gotten a hand full of birth control pills before she spread her legs.
Horrors, but how about asking the father to pitch in and support the new child? That is if she knows who did the deed.

Horror found an address in west Philadelphia. The gruesome testimony at the “House of Horrors” murder trial of abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell continued on Thursday, with two former employees describing scenes that strained the imagination. Ashley Baldwin, who began working at the cash-only Women’s Medical Society clinic in west Philadelphia when she was just 15, said that she routinely assisted Gosnell with abortions and, on five different occasions, saw babies moving following the procedure. In one case, Baldwin, who is now 22 and the mother of her own toddler, testified that she witnessed an aborted baby “screeching,” the Philadelphia

Nate Thayer recently became a hero to an entire generation of underappreciated, underpaid–and more importantly often unpaid–journalists just scraping by when he made public emails from an Atlantic editor asking him to work for free. With even our most highly remunerated writers, including Scott Turow, speaking out about their writing being pilfered, Thayer struck a chord. “We unfortunately can’t pay you for it, but we do reach 13 million readers a month,” an Atlantic.com editor, Olga Khazan, emailed him after reading a piece that Thayer had already written elsewhere. Thayer turned down the offer,

Britain has decided not to invite Argentine President Cristina Kirchner to the funeral of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Downing Street said on Thursday. The decision follows on a special request from the Thatcher family. The UK government is still finalizing the list of foreign dignitaries who will receive invitations to the ceremonial funeral next Wednesday of the “Iron Lady”, who successfully led Britain into a war to expel Argentine forces that invaded the Falkland Islands in 1982. Prime Minister David Cameron´s Downing Street office said that some current world leaders would be invited, but Cristina Fernandez,

VALENCIA, Venezuela – It´s just after nightfall and the power is out again in untold hundreds of thousands — probably millions — of Venezuelan homes. If the government knows how many, it´s not saying. It hasn´t issued reports on problems in the public power grid since 2010. In Venezuela´s third-largest city, Pedro Martinez dons a shirt for visitors drawn by the flicker of candles inside his one-story, cement-block house in a middle-class district. The Caribbean heat is sticky thick inside. A mesh hammock hangs by the front door. "This happens nearly every day," Martinez says of the blackout,

A few days ago, I reported on the shocking story about the Army instructor in Pennsylvania who labeled Evangelical Christians, Catholics, Orthodox Jews and Mormons "religious extremists" alongside Hamas and al Qaeda during an Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief on extremism. An Army spokesman told Todd Starnes of Fox News that this was an “isolated incident not condoned by the Dept. of the Army.” It was not an isolated incident. Today, Todd Starnes reports at Townhall that an Army officer at Ft. Campbell, KY recently sent an email to subordinates using similar descriptions to describe two mainstream Christian ministries

The death of Margaret Thatcher received extensive media coverage in Chile, proving that the “Dama de Hierro” (“Iron Lady”) is still capable of stirring powerful emotions among Chileans—of irritation among her opponents and admiration from her supporters. Her passing occurred while Heritage economic experts were in Santiago to present results for Chile in the 2013 Index of Economic Freedom (a publication that celebrates the core principles to which Prime Minister Thatcher dedicated her political career). Several Chileans told us why Thatcher mattered so much to them and why Chile mattered to her.

A former vice mayor exposed himself and masturbated in the direction of at least three different women while driving his car at 90mph, it emerged today. The women testified against former Mount Carmel Vice-Mayor William Blakely in Tennessee court last week and all described in graphic detail how he would get their attention while they were driving and then hang his penis out the car window. Victim Kelly Street testified: ´After the waving, it turned into a lot of beeping, him grabbing his chest area, and asking me going "please, please" [clasping hands together] with his hands, may I… show me yours.´

Rights activists reacted with indignation on Wednesday after Singapore´s High Court rejected a petition to repeal an archaic law criminalising sex between men. In a ruling issued on Tuesday, the court said it was up to parliament to repeal a controversial provision in the penal code known as Section 377A, whose constitutionality has been questioned by a gay couple. "The issue in the present case no doubt is challenging and important, but it is not one which, in my view, justifies heavy-handed judicial intervention ahead of democratic change," Judge Quentin Loh said in his verdict.

Documents released by Wikileaks show Catholic Church dismissed criticism of Chile’s military dictatorship as ‘communist propaganda.´ The Catholic Church originally labeled accusations of human rights abuses by the military junta in Chile as “leftist lies,” only revising their stance later as widespread governmental violence became undeniable. Among the hundreds of documents from the U.S. State Department released by Wikileaks on Monday was a cable sent to then-Secretary of State Henry Kissinger from his counterpart at the Vatican, Archbishop Giovanni Benelli.

Whoever wins next Sunday’s presidential election in Venezuela faces an economic time bomb with food shortages, insufficient US dollars to pay for imports and honour the country’s debt, a devastated economy full of inefficient nationalized companies and non productive farms plus mounting promises of further handouts from the government and inflation. “In a way, Chávez left at the zenith of his success” says Orlando Ochoa, an economist at the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas. “And his legacy for his successor is an economic bomb”. In an effort to stem the problems the government created a new foreign-exchange agency

In 2011, the journalist Mara Hvistendahl published Unnatural Selection: Choosing Boys Over Girls, and the Consequences of a World Full of Men, detailing the societal effects of sex-selective abortions that target women the world over and resulted in the absence of perhaps more than 100 million girls who by now should have been born. But Hvistendahl soon learned the downside to uncovering what many believe to be a shocking trend in human rights offenses: people will want to do something about it. And so she lashed out, declaring that “anti-abortion activists

The withdrawal came less than a week after medical school Dean Paul B. Rothman chastised Carson for his comments and met with graduating students concerned that the famed physician was an inappropriate commencement speaker.

Is Anthony Weiner completely delusional? Or is he out of his flipping, sex-crazed gourd? Whatever big-busted fantasies crawl around the ex-congressman’s delirious noggin, la Weiner made his next goal as clear as the skin of the wholesome college students he craved: He relishes being Mayor Weiner. Please, shut up this clown. These days, the genitally obsessed Weiner has nothing much to do, except sit in his lavish Manhattan apartment and — the inhumanity! — change the poopy diapers of his 16-month-old son, Jordan. Worse, Weiner is living under a kind of house arrest, sentenced to take extreme grief

Seven hundred Military Special Operations professionals. And one insistent and very angry Mom. This is becoming a deadly combination for the political game players in the Obama Administration. Sean Smith, the young State Department computer wizard who was brutally murdered that September night in Benghazi, was Pat Smith’s only child. Let’s say that again. Sean Smith was Mrs. Smith’s only child. To listen to her recent radio interview with another Sean… Sean Hannity… is to have the heart break.

Within the next few decades, carbon emissions could cause global temperatures to rise between 4 and 11 degrees Fahrenheit, melting ice caps and causing sea levels to rise. The price of crops like coffee and chocolate will skyrocket, and countless cuddly animals around the globe could be wiped out. And yet, a lot of people find it hard to really care about climate change. But don´t be fooled: Climate change will affect you. Here´s a brief sampling of ways that warmer temperatures will suck the fun out of your life: 1. Your flights will be more turbulent

Remember little Anthony Freemont, played by cute little Billy Mumy, in one of the "Twilight Zone´s" most famous episodes? In the opening sequence Rod Serling informs us: "A monster had arrived in the village. Just by using his mind, he took away the automobiles, the electricity, the machines -- because they displeased him -- and he moved an entire community back into the dark ages -- just by using his mind. . . . and the people there have to smile. They have to think happy thoughts and say happy things because once displeased, the monster can wish them into a cornfield

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

They like the way it feels.” Biden imitated holding a weapon and added, “You know,
