Increasingly, I am hearing the following mantra/narrative from black Christians:"I'm voting for Obama because he is the lesser of the two evils." This is an extremely weak attempt to justify their racism and loyalty to The Black Code (never side with a white against a fellow black). From a Christian point of view, how can any Bible-believer conclude that Mitt Romney is more evil than Barack Obama?
Hey Lloyd, you should be trying to publish this in the Philadelphia Inquirer, pretty much preaching to the choir at the American Thinker. Problem is everyone has a way of rationalizing their votes, look at how the Catholics vote for Dems, it's the same thing.
Tom DeLay´s legal nightmare is far from over -- not if Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg gets her way. "We strongly agree that Tom DeLay is guilty," declared the liberal Democrat on Wednesday, soon after a Texas appeals court exonerated the former House Majority Leader of illegally funneling corporate contributions to Republican candidates in 2002. In arguing their case, Lehmberg and her team had engaged in some creative legal arguments (snip)So who is Rosemary Lehmberg? For starters, she´s "one tough lesbian." That´s according to an article last year in Dallasvoice.com, which covers LGBT issues.
I am not sure what to make of this ad, which is called Hijack. I saw it this week on one of the National Geographic channels. I´ve noticed several ads in the past year or so that have turned the all too common "all men are dumb" theme on its ear by showing bitchy wives with patient, suffering husbands. The fact that this emasculating wife is a black woman on a healthy eating kick is interesting, especially given that Denny´s once had an image as a racist company. It worked hard to change that image and now has a considerable
The wheels of justice have finally ground into dust the conviction of former Majority Leader Tom Delay, whose brilliant political career was ruined by a politicized indictment undertaken by a left wing district attorney name Ronny Earle. Mike Snyder of the Houston Chronicle reports: An Austin appeals court on Thursday overturned the conviction of former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on charges related to a scheme to influence Texas elections.(snip)Because Austin is the state capital of Texas, the left wing voters in Travis County choose a DA who has oversight over politicians throughout the state, and comprise the
An old ploy of the left is being implemented on the comment threads of this website (and elsewhere) to discredit the honest and open discussion of race relations. For decades the left has discredited conservatism by its oddballs, benefiting by caricaturing "right-wing extremists." (snip) the conservative movement is no longer a phenomenon of the coastal elites. With the advent of the Tea Parties, conservative activism has spread nationwide. Along with opportunities, this also creates hazards, including renewed efforts at infiltration from the more repellent corners of politics.
President Obama´s second autobiography, The Audacity of Hope, attempts to channel the spirit of great American statesmen. But it is one thing to channel the spirit of great men, and quite another to steal their words without assigning credit, especially within the confines of a bestselling book. While we should praise the former, we should rightly criticize the latter as a form of intellectual plagiarism. Now, Obama has faced these criticisms before. In early 2008, for example, Hillary Clinton´s campaign accused him of plagiarizing a speech by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.
John Adams, in 1787, said: Property is surely a right of mankind as really as liberty. ... but the time would not be long before courage and enterprise would come, and pretexts be invented by degrees, ... in sharing it equally with its present possessors. Debts would be abolished first; taxes laid heavy on the rich, and not at all on the others; and at last a downright equal division of every thing be demanded, and voted. What would be the consequence of this? The idle, the vicious, the intemperate, would ... sell and spend all their share, and then demand
On September 12, Miami-Dade police arrested a 17-year-old black teenager, Jamal Jackson, for the August 21 execution-style murder (see shocking video) of Hispanic-American Miguel Pilotos. The black-on-Hispanic killing in Opa-Locka, Florida didn´t get much press when it happened. Only after the suspect was arrested three weeks later did various news outlets release more details of the crime. (snip) It should be noted the same media that fueled the Trayvon Martin controversy did little to help a heartbroken widow of color.
During the last few years, a key liberal talking point has been "red state welfare." The argument is that the states that get more from the federal government than they pay in taxes tend to be red states, whereas the states that give more to the federal government than they pay in taxes tend to be blue states. This "red state welfare" hypothesis falls completely apart when we look at the data. (snip)Fascinating storyline the liberals tried to construct. Too bad it is entirely false.
Higher education is an enormous industry, heavily subsidized, and the people who run it consider themselves entitled to the lifestyle of the mega rich. Even at taxpayer-owned institutions. Take the example of Janet Napolitano, newly installed president of the University of California. The UC Board of Regents is considering spending three and a half million dollars to renovate a university-owned home for her official residence. Currently, Napolitano is making do with a rented mansion that´s only $9,950 (nice touch, keeping it fifty bucks under ten grand).
Yesterday saw the nation´s news dominated by continuous coverage of the shooting at the Washington Naval Yard. Twelve innocents were slaughtered, leaving behind grieving family and friends as well as a nation horrified at the carnage. They deserve, and have, our sympathy and compassion, as do the thousands of people at the Naval Yard and elsewhere nearby who were terrorized. But for the major political and media actors on the nation´s stage, it was a day of following familiar scripts. Cable news outlets went directly into continuous live coverage, endlessly repeating the few facts that became available, and adding quite a number
For America´s aging population, even the mention of water makes a large number of Baby Boomers sprint toward the nearest restroom. Now to compound the problem, we have first lady Michelle Obama hawking increased water consumption.(snip) It used to be when a person felt hungry, they ate, and when their God-given internal water gauge indicated they were running low, they drank. That´s the old way. Now we have Michelle Obama spending her time "nudging" us away from the soda aisle toward the water fountain.
President Obama has now sabotaged four decades of stability in the Middle East. First he pulled down the biggest pillar of peace, the Mubarak regime in Egypt; then he bombed Libya into the Dark Ages; and now he has paraded "My Army" and "My Navy" against the Assad regime in Syria, which is just as evil as the rebels. The one thing Obama has never faced honestly is what everybody knows to be the real threat -- namely mullahs with nukes. In the strangest twist of history, it is Obama the radical leftist who is now acting as the destabilizing warmonger in
Their 12-year affair made Gennifer Flowers one of the most high profile mistresses in America. Now, two decades after they split amid scandal, the former news reporter from Little Rock, Arkansas wants to ‘sit down and talk’ with Bill Clinton. In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Gennifer has spoken of her deep regret at turning down Clinton’s pleas to talk some eight years ago and revealed her belief that they would still be together today, were it not the birth of Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea. She said: ‘We have some unresolved issues that it would be nice to sit down and talk about
The 2008 Republican presidential nominee, criticised Mr Putin and his associates for rigging elections, imprisoning and murdering opponents, fostering corruption and "destroying" Russia´s reputation on the world stage. "I am not anti-Russian," Mr McCain wrote in the piece, which his office said was sent to both the Communist Party´s Pravda newspaper as well as to online media outlet Pravda.ru. The latter was expected to publish it today, his staff said. "I am pro-Russian, more pro-Russian than the regime that misrules you today." Mr McCain last week made no secret of his intention to write an op-ed piece for Russian media
In 2010, Republicans took the House of Representatives by gaining 63 seats. They also picked up six U.S. senators and 675 state legislators, giving them control of more legislative chambers than any time since 1928. The GOP also won 25 of 40 gubernatorial races in 2009 and 2010. These epic gains happened primarily because independents voted Republican. In 2010, 56% of independents voted for GOP congressional candidates, up from 43% in 2008 and 39% in 2006. Today, independents look more like Republicans than Democrats, especially when it comes to health care. In a new Crossroads GPS health-care policy survey conducted in 10
JOSE DIAZ-BALART, TELEMUNDO: The Affordable Care Act takes effect next month, The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows Americans oppose it, believing it will produce damaging results. Fifty-two percent believe the law will raise their health care costs. Is everybody wrong? PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Yes, they are.### OBAMA: The problem we have is that over the last four years billions of dollars have been spent misinforming people about what this law is about. All of the horror stories that were talked about have not come true. It is going to be a good deal
Fox News anchor Bret Baier is to take a short break from TV as his six-year-old son undergoes heart surgery. It is the third time Baier´s son Paul has had major surgery after being born with five congenital heart defects. While Paul recovers from the latest surgery, which was expected to take more than five hours on Thursday, Baier has taken time off work to be by his bedside. Baier updated viewers about his son´s impending surgery via his blog and Twitter, where he praised his son´s spirit, saying: ´You´d never know he´s been through what he´s been through.´
I don’t know who is more shocked about this, me or Huma Abedin, but it turns out that a former top Clinton Foundation official is also … a senior Muslim Brotherhood official who has just been arrested for – you’ll never guess – inciting violence in Egypt. Not to worry, I’m sure it was only moderate violence. The Washington Free Beacon’s Adam Kredo reports on Gehad [as in Jihad] el-Haddad: A senior Muslim Brotherhood official who, until recently, had been employed by the William J. Clinton Foundation was arrested in Cairo on Tuesday and charged with inciting violence. Gehad el-Haddad served as one
It´s hard not to admire how Senator Ted Cruz spent his summer. Months of touring the country and TV appearances telling conservatives that he wanted an (unwinnable) fight with the White House on Obamacare, getting the fight, and now sitting ringside cheering half-heartedly as the House throws punches. Cruz, a freshman from Texas, wasn´t the first guy to suggest that the party use a budget fight as leverage to rollback the Affordable Care Act, the president´s signature legislation. That idea dates back to 2011, as Chris Hayes noted on All In Wednesday night. In his segment, Hayes probably gave Cruz more
In one of the most fascinating foreign policy interviews of all time, Fox News aired an unedited, lengthy and exclusive interview with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Wednesday. The in-depth interview focused on diplomacy, chemical weapons, the death toll from the two-year-old war, the rebels’ goals, future governing and the region’s stability. Assad appeared calm, comfortable and yet delusional, talking in almost perfect English, as he consistently labeled the rebels as “terrorists,” claiming that 80 - 90% of the opposition fighting against his military was comprised of Al Qaeda supporters and other jihadists. In talking about the origins of the conflict, Assad failed to
During the second portion of a House Oversight and Government Reform hearing about Benghazi Thursday on Capitol Hill, the majority of Democrats on the Committee left the room and refused to listen to the testimony of Patricia Smith and Charles Woods. Ms. Smith is the mother of Sean Smith, an information management officer killed in the 9/11 Benghazi attack. Charles Woods is the father of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, who was also killed. The far side of the room, shown empty in the photo, belongs to the Democrats. The only Democrats who stayed were Ranking Member Elijah Cummings and Rep. Jackie
Raising the debt ceiling doesn´t increase the nation´s debt, Pres. Obama declared in a speech today. In a speech at the Business Roundtable headquarters in Washington, D.C., Obama dismissed concerns about raising the debt ceiling by noting that it´d been done so many times in the past: "Now, this debt ceiling -- I just want to remind people in case you haven´t been keeping up -- raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt; it does not somehow promote profligacy.
Patricia Smith, the mother of Benghazi victim Sean Smith, testified Thursday at the House Oversight Committee that President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, among other top administration officials, initially told her the attack was the result of a YouTube video. That explanation, which was then disseminated by Susan Rice during her infamous appearances on Sunday talk shows the following weekend, was quickly proven to be false. A visibly upset Smith said she was told lies at the casket ceremony for her son and that she and other American people “don’t matter” in the eyes of the
As Catholicism morphed from the Church militant to the Church mindless after Vatican II, criticism of Buddhism, one of the world’s largest half-baked religions, dissipated. These days it is commonplace to hear priests babbling nonsensically about the benefits of Buddhism and see nuns twisting themselves into meditative postures at retreats. David Chase, the creator of The Sopranos, poked fun at this pathetic phenomenon when he had a flirting priest on the show give the mob boss’s troubled wife a “book on Buddhism.” Under the I’m OK, You’re OK pontificate of Pope Francis, such silliness is likely to continue if not
