Maine Dem Dill: I haven’t spoken to party leaders in months

| Maine Democrat Cynthia Dill is rare among her fellow Democratic candidates in that her run for Senate is entirely independent of the national party. But that’s not by choice. Dill hasn’t received the endorsement of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and she doesn’t have the financial or technical backing of the party. Though DSCC chairwoman Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) has said Democrats would be monitoring the race, they’ve offered no indication that they’ll be investing funds in Dill’s bid,
|
Comments: This is a shameful development. Democrats around the country should be outraged. Dill is far more liberal and "progressive" than Angus King, who's running as an Independent. King is loaded financially. The Democrats are ignoring Dill who won the primary for the nomination as the Democratic candidate for Senate to replace Olympia Snowe. King will most certainly caucus with the Democrats. As a Republican, I've put out campaign signs for Dill. A vote for her is a vote against King which is a vote for Charlie Summers, the Republican.

Either King or Dill, if elected, are going to spend a lot of time talking with Dingy Harry and his cronies if elected.
Mostly saying, "Yes, sir, we will vote the way you demand. Thank you, sir, may I have another."

This is why I have disdain for both parties. It's all about the party bosses and their power; it is exactly why the Republican elite despises the Tea Party.

Just like Carmona in Az. He/she might be OK (for a dem) but they will caucus with reid et al, and keep the wackos in charge of the senate, blocking much of Romney's changes.

#6 and #7: Maine has a high poverty level. A lot of people are on the dole. Portland has become Somalia-on-the-Atlantic. People on entitlements are going to vote to continue the entitlements.

#10 explains it well. These Somalis are supported by the Dim Black Caucus and have even demanded LL Bean know tow to demands. Add that to the porous border and there is a real problem.

Thank you for helping me understand the situation in Maine. I love Maine, I would move there in a heart beat if I did not have to work. At 62.5, I can not start all over some where else. Maybe by the time I am 66 Maine will have changed for the better politically.

A lot of this comes down to what money the DNC has available...which isn't much. Zippy has been keeping most of the money for himself and not sharing.

A single Senator seldom matters much except for the caucus.
Dill and King would help the Democrats hold the Senate. And we would will have Harry Reid stopping every GOP proposal for two more years.
Best outcome, the Republican wins and the Democrats devour one another.

Consider it an opportunity overlooked. It´s surprising that Jose Pedro Simoes Ferreira´s name didn´t surface during John Kerry´s confirmation hearings for Secretary of State. Mr. Ferreira, 78, is the older brother of Mr. Kerry´s wife, Fox Chapel ketchup heiress Teresa Heinz. Ferreira also is a former Portuguese naval officer linked to leftist Portuguese politics and reportedly backed a 1974 coup against Portuguese Prime Minister Marcello Caetano. According to Allegheny County voter registration records, Ferreira lives in a four-bedroom, 3½ bathroom $628,000 home on Squaw Run Road in Fox Chapel on property adjacent to the sprawling 87-acre Heinz estate. Just one hour after the seven-hour-long terrorist attacks upon the U.S. consulate in Benghazi began, our commander-in-chief, vice president, secretary of defense and their national security team gathered together in the Oval Office listening to phone calls from American defenders desperately under siege and watching real-time video of developments from a drone circling over the site. Yet they sent no military aid that might have intervened in time to save lives. Why? The attack began on September 11, at about 10:00 p.m. Libyan time (4:00 p.m. in Washington). Just how badly did CNN's Candy Crowley destroy her first (and hopefully last) attempt as a presidential debate moderator? More than 65 million people saw that she is to debate moderation as CNN is to "news." Barack Obama made a fatal mistake when he lied, claiming he'd labeled the Libya attack as an act of terrorism. The look on Romney's face said it all: Mr. President, here comes checkmate.

Conservative critics have launched an attack on CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley, who moderated Tuesday's second presidential debate, after she corrected former Gov. Mitt Romney's claim that President Barack Obama did not refer to the consulate attack in Benghazi as an "act of terror." Obama said in the debate that on September 12, he called the attack in Libya that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, an "act of terror."

Candy Crowley’s signature moment as moderator of Tuesday’s rough-and-tumble presidential debate came when she was called upon to referee a dispute over President Barack Obama’s description of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya as an act of terror. When Republican Mitt Romney questioned whether the president had done so, Crowley said, “He did, in fact, sir.”“Can you say that a little louder, Candy?” Obama said, as the debate’s audience broke into applause. Congressman Mike Michaud, George Mitchell and Emily Cain — district representative for Orono — were just a few of the speakers at the event, which took place in the Wells Convention Center at the University of Maine.Only four students showed up to the event. The speakers pretended not to notice.

The State Department on Monday defended its decision not to have lower-level employees testify before Congress about last year´s attack in Benghazi, Libya. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is pushing ahead with his investigation of the terrorist assault, and has asked for legal protections for lower-level employees who might be called to testify. The State Department pushed back on Monday and said the independent probe into the attack "should be enough" for lawmakers. “We think that we´ve done an independent investigation, that it´s been transparent, thorough, credible, and detailed, and that we´ve shared those

The Obama administration has insisted from the start that there was no help available for the Americans under assault in Benghazi on September 11. The first in three exclusive reports alleging that that claim is false aired on tonight’s Special Report. Because the special operator in the video above is fearful of reprisal, his identity was concealed. The man, who watched the events unfold and has debriefed those who were part of the response, told Fox News’ Adam Housley that the C110 special forces group “was doing a training exercise not in the region of Northern

It is a shopworn technique of hard-line conservatives to declare themselves men and women of principle in contrast to those other Republicans — the ones, you know, who pass legislation and try to represent their constituents. It is both self-serving (presuming principles are of no matter to opponents) and lazy in that it is always easy to say no, ridicule compromise and remain pristine rather than trying to improve legislation or introduce an alternative. I’m sorry to say Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is too often falling into the reflexive habit of voting no

Over five years after Barack Obama won the Iowa caucuses and demolished the notion that white voters wouldn’t support a black presidential candidate, progress for other African-American politicians remains elusive. Even as the country elected and re-elected Obama, making it seem increasingly unremarkable to have a black family in the White House, African-Americans are scarce and bordering on extinct in the U.S. Senate and governorships. The president is indeed exceptional - but in the wrong sense of the phrase as it applies to other black politicians. Consider what has taken place, or not taken place,

The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance — a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned. “The breadth of the benefits the family was receiving was stunning,” said a person with knowledge of documents handed over to a legislative committee today. The state has handed over more than 500 documents to the 11-member House Post Audit and Oversight Committee, which today met for the first time and plans to call in officials from the Department of Transitional

Several House Democrats are calling on Congress to recognize that climate change is hurting women more than men, and could even drive poor women to "transactional sex" for survival. The resolution, from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and a dozen other Democrats, says the results of climate change include drought and reduced agricultural output. It says these changes can be particularly harmful for women. "[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health,"

“You can live in your little dream world.” That’s Glenn Beck‘s advice for anyone who didn’t see the similarities between the lockdown in Boston earlier this month and Nazi Germany. On his radio show today, Beck reflected on time he spent at Auschwitz and how the police going door to door to search for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect reminded him of how the Nazis searched for Jews during the Holocaust. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons released its latest cosmetic and resconstructive surgery statistics on Monday. Many of the trends were familiar. In all, the group reported, Americans underwent 1.6 million cosmetic surgeries, including face-lifts, liposuction and rhinoplasty; 13 million minimally invasive procedures (think Botox injections) and 5.6 million reconstructive procedures (including tumor removal and scar revision). People in the U.S. spent $11 billion on the cosmetic procedures alone. Once again, for the seventh year in a row, breast augmentation was the most popular form of cosmetic surgery, with 286,000 operations performed.
