A 7-year-old boy was killed and his 18-year-old friend critically injured in a shooting late Saturday in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, and at least 15 others were wounded by gunfire since about 5:45 p.m. Saturday. The 17-year-old may have been targeted due to a feud between two rival gangs, one of which police say he belonged to. He and the 18-year-old were on their way to meet a girl when someone walked up and opened fire in the 6300 block of South Rhodes Avenue just before 9:30 p.m., according to police. The younger teen died after being taken

So we see why slumlord Valerie Jarrett has a larger secret service contingent than the president when she goes home to Chicago.

Wait until the day after the electIon. Or so, as it may take a few days for the brown shirts to organize the riots. Then the question will be just how much "burn baby burn" rahm will tolerate before he contends with his prototype constituents. Even if he tries, rahm may discover that the mob rules.

Somewhere I read recently that it was thought the gangs were all Mexican cartel related and it was a 'turf war' there....

Oh, and did Emmanuel bring back the 50 coppers he took to the convention?

On another note, I watched Chicago Fire and it was pretty good until 'da mayor' jumped out of his limo for a photo op....

I suppose they could use the same excuse they use all summer, the weather. Sure it was raining but it did warm up to the mid 60s so that must be the reason for all the shootings.

Just who is in charge in Chicago, The gangs or the Administration. It is terribly sad that thugs have taken over the city. Just as soon as an IMPORTANT person is injured or killed, security will be made the first priority. Now they just don't care. There are many innocent people being targeted.

Cruz to get hero´s welcome

Conservatives in Iowa and New Hampshire are preparing a hero’s welcome for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) after he showed up Senate Republican leaders during a crucial vote on the debt limit. Cruz infuriated his Senate Republican colleagues this week when he filibustered a clean bill to raise the debt limit. His objection forced Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and 11 other Republicans to vote with Democrats to advance the legislation. But in Iowa and New Hampshire, two important presidential primary states, conservative activists are cheering Cruz’s stand and buzzing about a possible presidential run in 2016. COLUMBIA, S.C. — The snow and ice dumped by an unusually severe winter storm were melting, once-frigid temperatures were rising and residents of South Carolina and Georgia finally had begun to relax. Then the earth shuddered. A small earthquake shook both states late Friday, shaking homes and rattling residents hundreds of miles away. The quake happened at 10:23 p.m. and had a preliminary magnitude of 4.1, according to the U.S. Geological Survey´s website. It was centered 7 miles west of the town of Edgefield, S.C. , and was felt as far west as Atlanta and as far north as Hickory, N.C.,

The White House Correspondents Association certainly doesn´t have any "edgy" anti-Obama comics lined up to zing the president like Stephen Colbert whacked Bush in 2006. For this year´s correspondents´ dinner (celebrated on Twitter as "Nerd prom"), they picked Joel McHale, star of NBC´s perpetually ratings-saggy sitcom "Community" and the E! channel talk show "The Soup." In the Los Angeles Times, we´re told McHale will mock both parties and the media: "We´re thrilled that Joel will headline the dinner when we celebrate our centennial," said WHCA President Steven Thomma in a statement. Workers at a Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tenn., have rejected the United Auto Workers, shooting down the union’s hopes of securing a foothold at a foreign-owned auto plant in the South. The vote was 712 to 626, the UAW said. The vote, announced late Friday night after three days of balloting, is a devastating loss for the UAW, whose membership has plummeted from a high of 1.5 million in 1979 to around 400,000 today. President Obama predicted in an interview airing Friday that immigration reform would get passed before the end of his second term. “I believe it will get done before my presidency is over,” Obama said during an interview with Univision Radio. “I’d like to get it done this year,” he added. However, Obama will likely have little say over whether immigration reform gets across the finish line. House Republicans are sharply divided about the timing of an immigration package, with some saying the issue should remain on the backburner until after the midterm elections.

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. — The UAW suffered a devastating defeat at Volkswagen’s plant here as workers rejected union representation by a 712-626 margin. The defeat, which came despite Volkswagen’s neutrality, tarnishes UAW President Bob King’s legacy and could make it next to impossible for the union to extend its reach beyond domestic automakers.
“While we certainly would have liked a victory for workers here, we deeply respect the Volkswagen Global Group Works Council, Volkswagen management and (German union) IG Metall for doing their best to create a free and open atmosphere for workers to exercise their basic human right to form a union,” King said in a statement.

A growing group of Ted Cruz’s Republican Senate colleagues are infuriated with his tactics. At least every week now, there is a new story supporting the narrative of an inevitable 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential bid. Indeed, the conventional wisdom is that it is an absolute certainty that she will run. If anyone is currently saying, flat out, that Hillary isn´t running, I haven´t come across them. Is the inevitability of her run really as certain as the conventional wisdom suggests, and further, is it unfolding in an optimal manner for the potential candidate? In all likelihood, Clinton will not make a final, "go-or-no-go" decision until early next year, after the dust has settled from

I was reminded of this the other day as I observed, in amusement, fascination, and occasional pity, the reaction of the so-called mainstream media to Alana Goodman’s lengthy and rock-solid report on “The Hillary Papers.” This trove of previously unexamined transcriptions of conversations between Hillary Clinton and her best friend Diane Blair had been collecting dust at the University
