And the war came.
And the president demurred.

Washington Post Writers Group, by Michael Gerson

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 10/13/2012 9:57:37 PM

The beginning of congressional hearings on the Benghazi debacle revealed an administration with much to explain and perhaps something to hide. At a minimum, the State Department did not take adequate precautions in reaction to mounting threats after urgent requests by officials on the ground. This was a failure of judgment. It was followed by a failure of candor.(Snip) It is impossible for me to imagine U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice or Secretary of State Hillary Clinton freelancing the false claim that the Benghazi attack was the spontaneous response to a YouTube video instead of being a terrorist attack.

Comments:
Gerson goes on to say that this is a symptom of an administration that resorts to artifice rather than talk about the growing danger from the global jihad.

The narrative is going to be even more inconvenient when one of our airliners is taken down with a stinger missile we supplied to Libyan rebels. We are inviting attack and it will come on our soil.

I am astonished to find it in the WaPoo.
Maybe they want their credibility back.

Obama's reaction to Benghazi is symptomatic of his failed approach to all of foreign policy.

Four government motors Chevy Volts to the US Paris Embassy and nothing for Benghazi. These are the same Administration morons who sent 2,000 guns to Mexico. It seems the Mexican drug lords needed protection, but the four Americans in Benghazi weren't worth their effort. I think that covers the situation adequately.

1935 to 1939, Great Britain, Prime Ministers Stanley Baldwin and Neville Chamberlain resolutely determined to give Hitler everything he desired so as to avoid a war. A British electorate that agreed with them, despite the persistent warnings of Winston Churchill. Does anyone in 2012 America remember what happened?

2012, America, Barack Obama and Joe Biden (and the Clintons), resolutely determined to ignore Islamic terrorists and Persian lunatics so as to continue their reign of misgovernment, redistribution of other people's wealth, and racist domination. Half of the American electorate agrees with them, despite overwhelming evidence of their traitorous and incompetent record.

The Farsi and Chinese historians who may dominate published histories 50 years hence will likely marvel at how clear the choice was in 2012 in America, and how so many twice-fooled voters in that lost land made their suicidal decisions.

But, but, that military detachment wasn't needed in Benghazi. That dumb State Dept employee said so in the hearing. It turns out that detachment was needed for displomatic enhancement in Barbados. In fact, on the second day that detachment was there, they participating in some youth athletic event. THAT was what was important to the State Department.

The connecting arc between Osama and Obama can no longer be ignored. It's not just the superficial similarity in their names, it's the substantial similarity in their apparent common goal...the diminution of America and the establishment of a worldwide Islamic caliphate.

Osama sought to accomplish this with terrorist action. Obama is accomplishing it with cunning inaction. Look around the world. Is there any place where radical Islam is virulently on the move and where Obama has sought to stop it? No, quite the contrary. Whether it's Iran, Egypt, Syria, Libya or any of the African despotic states, Obama has not only not acted to stop Islamic takeovers, he has overtly and cleverly facilitated them.

It can even be said that Obama has been more effective in creating the worldwide Islamic caliphate than has Osama. Who can deny that?

Keeping Americans safe is the one thing Americans agree on. For a few days Americans came together in the aftermath of 9/11/2001. A tape of bin Laden helped Dubya win reelection in 2004 because we trust Republicans more than Democrats to keep us safe. This terrorist attack, preceded by pleas for additional security, is the nail in Obama's coffin as it demonstrates he has not taken his sacred job of keeping us safe seriously.

Obama wants to be able to tout his promises to pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan. History will show that the timing motivated on his own political needs was pure foolishness. The motivation should be ONLY based on whether or not the situation there is/was stable. The bottom line is he pulled out too soon.

It's a shame his father didn't.

Gerson repeats the claim that Obama dare not react to these attacks for fear of erroding his base. It seems to me that only a handful of leftists are guided by principle, so he won't lose many if he initiates military action. More than likely, they're running down the clock, waiting until the two-minute warning before the election. They have to time the dog- wagging precisely to the point where details are sketchy and critical analysis of their actions isn't possible during the short period before the election. They saw how quickly George H. Bush's popularity surge disappeared after Desert Storm. Obama needs the surge, but can't risk the inevitable fall. I'm guessing we'll see a move around November 3rd or 4th.

The American that did the YouTube video "Innocence of Muslims" is in Federal prison in Los Angeles (at serious risk because of the Muslims imprisoned there). The Pakistani doctor that obtained DNA proof of Osama's location was outed by Obama and is in Pakistani prison. 14 days after the al-Quaeda attack Barack Hussein Obama insisted on the video multiple times in front of the UN General Assembly. I ask because I am beginning to suspect that Obama and his minions hired him to MAKE the film, so that Obama could look like a big shot when he used a drone to put down some "turmoil" over there right before the election. EVERETT, Wash. — As medical examiners painstakingly piece together the identities and lives of the people killed when a mudslide wiped out a small Washington community, a mystery troubles them. One of the 30 bodies found does not fit with descriptions on the missing persons list, which, as of Thursday included 15 people, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff´s Office. The only clue to the man´s identity is his gold molars, said Heather Oie, operations manager at the Snohomish County Medical Examiner´s Office. He might have been someone who was on the highway or going for a hike.

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday freed wealthy donors to give more money directly to congressional candidates, extending its controversial 2010 Citizens United decision that opened the door for unlimited independent spending on political issues. In a 5-4 decision, the court’s conservative majority struck down Watergate-era aggregate limits that barred political donors from giving more than $123,000 a year in total to candidates running for seats in the House of Representatives or Senate. The court said this limit violated the free-speech rights of the donors, and it was not needed to prevent “corruption” of the political process.

There were scattered fires caused by gas leaks and some structural damage to homes and businesses but apparently little devastation in the vicinity of Pisagua, near the offshore epicenter of the quake.

Do you think members of Congress are overpaid or underpaid? Most likely you’d go with the former, but Democratic congressman Jim Moran argues it’s actually the latter. In an interview with CQ Roll Call, Moran says, “I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid.” The House recently took up a bill to freeze members’ paychecks, placing another halt on the annual cost-of-living pay increases they would normally get and keeping annual salary at $174,000. President Barack Obama contended that the government did not “make a hard sell” for Obamacare, despite his administration spending nearly $700 million to promote the law. “We didn’t make a hard sell,” Obama said in the Rose Garden on Tuesday, praising the 7.1 million sign ups for the Affordable Care Act. “We didn’t have billions of dollars of commercials like some critics did.” However, last July the Associated Press reported that Obamacare’s marketing campaign would cost at least $684 million. Taxpayer funding went to all 50 states in efforts to encourage people to enroll, including nearly $28 million for the

At a press conference to push legislation to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) criticized industrialists David and Charles Koch, calling them “shadow billionaires” who use their wealth to “rig our political system.” Reid’s sharp comments come on a day when the Wall Street Journal published a commentary written by Charles Koch, in which he described the brothers’ decision to get involved in politics to preserve the individual freedom and free markets that he said are the pillars of the American republic. “These two men are a pair of shadow billionaires spending
