| PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney told supporters in Ohio Saturday his campaign is about big issues while President Obama talks about "smaller things." Speaking at a rally at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Romney repeated his criticism of Obama on a range of issues including jobs, healthcare and energy policy, and ridiculed the president for making a campaign issue of the GOP nominee's remark that he would "fire ['Sesame Street' character] Big Bird" by cutting federal funding for public broadcasting.

The Obama campaign is a target rich environment and Romney/Ryan should hit it hard. There are many things that the average voter, watching the nightly news, does not know about. Mitt, please educate them.

Public broadcasting has sucked up enough of taxpayer dollars "for the kids". Really! They are about as bias as you can get, especially the radio NPR. We have a lot of remote areas in Alaska and it is sometimes the only station available. I am all for shutting down taxpayer money for lefty leaning BS.

WASHINGTON—With the White House trying to keep pressure on Congress to pass gun control legislation, President Obama has asked the mother of a 6-year-old victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy to deliver his weekly radio address. LOS ANGELES — Comedian Jonathan Winters, whose breakneck improvisations inspired Robin Williams, Jim Carrey and many others, has died at age 87. Longtime family friend Joe Petro III says Winters died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes. Winters was a master of improvisational comedy, with a grab bag of eccentric personalities and facial expressions. Characters such as the dirty old lady Maude Frickert were based on people Winters knew growing up in Ohio. NEWARK — A young Newark man who allegedly robbed former Newark Mayor Sharpe James of a gold chain Thursday was arrested and charged early this morning, police said. Alhafeez Williams, 20, was arrested and charged with robbery at about 2 a.m. by Newark police, after he had been apprehended at a PATH station in New York, Newark police said.(snip) James was Newark´s mayor from 1986 to 2006. He also held a state senate seat from 1999 to 2008. In April 2008, he was convicted of five counts of fraud by a federal jury and was sentenced to 27 months in prison.

PHOENIX — Authorities say law officers in Arizona have intercepted an explosive device that was earmarked for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. The Maricopa County Sheriff´s Office said late Thursday night that the device was contained in a package addressed to the sheriff at his downtown Phoenix office. The sheriff´s office says Flagstaff, Ariz., police reported that the package appeared suspicious so it was x-rayed and the device detected. A bomb squad team neutralized the explosive. An April 11 picture from North Korea (DPRK) shows female soldiers patrolling along the Yalu River in 4-inch platform heels. Given that DRPK leader Kim Jong-un has South Korea, Japan, and the U.S. on high alert amid hints of a ballistic missile test and threats of nuclear war, this is a strange sight. Usually the bizarre images coming out of the Hermit Kingdom come from propaganda videos, but sometimes we get shots like this and the one showing Kim´s logitech mouse.

While standing on the 1100 block of Bergen Street, a teenager approached the 77-year-old James and snatched a gold chain from his neck, his son, John Sharpe James, said. WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder, the nation´s chief law enforcement officer, returned to the courthouse where he once served as a judge, this time in the role of prospective juror performing his civic duty. The Justice Department said Holder wasn´t chosen and that he won´t be called back. Had he been selected for the jury Tuesday, the attorney general would have been on a panel hearing an armed robbery case. Holder sat in the last row of Judge Stuart Nash´s courtroom along with other prospective jurors as the judge gave details of the case.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
