'Million Muppet March'
to support PBS

American Thinker, by Rick Moran

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 10/13/2012 10:25:42 AM

A billion dollar children's show empire will lead a march of puppets on the Mall on November 3 to demonstrate support for continued government assistance to PBS stations. Plans to save Big Bird, the fuzzy yellow character on U.S. public television's "Sesame Street," from possible extinction are taking shape in the form of a puppet-based protest next month dubbed the "Million Muppet March." The demonstration is planned for November 3 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., three days before the general election. Before the presidential debate between Democratic President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney

Comments:
The Alinsky inspired agitation that spawned the "Occupy Movement" failed because they targeted lazy morons. Now, with the election looming, 0bama's buddies are attempting to agitate and organize subjects with higher IQ's - puppets. If this event isn't a metaphor for the 0bama administation and campaign strategy, I don't know what is.

Fine, each one of the participants pledges a buck a week for their precious PBS, that's $52,000,000 a year and they won't need the taxpayer money.

PBS has already said they do not really need Federal money.
Big Bird is rich.
I would be happy to march in the parade. Of course my sign would say something about Chinese money.

#2: actually it was Sesame Street that said they don't need Fed money. And they definitely don't. It's one of the most lucrative operations on TV and would be regardless of government funding.

It's the Democrats that like to hold the Muppets up as something the GOP want to destroy. What might be hurt by a lack of govt funding would be the documentaries and concert shows. But I believe they would end up fine as well since there are so many other outlets for such things, including direct streaming.

They're trying to hold onto a paradigm that's completely outdated and they want us to pay for it.

PBS is self sustaining if they use the profits from the Sesame Street toy sales. They do not need federal money and are free to solicit funding from corporations. We call that capitalism in the America I come from.

It is outrageous that this country is $15,000,000,000,000 in debt and the only government program the administration and congress can cut is defense.

PBS already runs plenty of commercials. They can run a few more and support themselves.

Like public sevice union members and many others in America's MOOCHER class, PBS users insist that others pay for what they want. And, of course, this is the Obama mantra- that the successful simply don't need all of their hard-earned money, so it should be taken from them and be given to "more deserving" others ( in exchange for their votes, of course). The marchers demand that you fund their desires, like it or not, just
Iike Ms. Fluke does. Refuse to fund others' desires and you'd better get ready to be demonized by demagogues.

Yes PBS lies about the amount of money they take from the Fed - the amounts vary from 1 to 5% that they officially say they take - you cannot get a straight story from them on it. With companies all over the nation cutting back by 5 to 25% or more, my assertion is that PBS could well afford to cut back by the amount they say they get from the Fed (depending who you talk to and what day) and not suffer one bit. I think the real point though is that they take a lot more from the Fed than they say they do.
