| Rocker Bruce Springsteen once said he wouldn't perform during the 2012 presidential campaign. The Boss has changed his mind. President Obama's campaign said today that Springsteen will appear along with ex-President Bill Clinton a pro-Obama rally Thursday in Parma, Ohio. "Bruce Springsteen's values echo what the President and Vice President (Biden) stand for: hard work, fairness, integrity," said Jim Messina, Obama for America's campaign manager. "His appearances will help with our get out the vote effort in these critical swing states and we are thrilled with his ongoing support."

Nothing I like better than a rick person telling me how to live my life like a "regular" guy as he and his band go about collecting trash cans full of dollars for singing and gyrating on stages.
What intellects these people have...or is it the neo-marxists having just one more "love in" for themselves as malignant narcissists?

Obama could have had Bon Jovi if he wanted a liberal NJ band. The likes of Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Don Henley and David Crosby are what I call 'Plaid Shirt Capitalist' they sing songs against 'the man' then fly off in Lear Jets to concerts depositing millions in bank accounts in the drawer next to Mitt Romney's money. Two faced idiots. What Springsteen really needs is voice lessons.

Another among the many examples that remind us that artists and stage performers and celebrities should never be looked to for wisdom. Once upon a time everybody, including the performers themselves, knew this. No one would have dreamed of listening to their opinions about politics or other important matters. They were in fact the last people in the world to be consulted about such matters. Today it is different. Celebrity and riches are thought somehow to confer intelligence, insight, special understanding, etc. This is a reflection upon the public and the dumbing down of standards.

#21--It's part of the Europeanization of America. I have noticed that Europeans have a oddly-sainted view of celebrities--when I've gone over to Europe, their magazines and television shows obsess over their celebrities (models, movie, music, and sports stars); and when my colleagues from Europe come over to the U.S., they can't wait to talk about American celebrities. I believe it comes from the old European view of vassals and lords--the lord was your protector and master. Unlike most Americans, Europeans do not naturally have an instinct that individuals are the masters of their own fates--the Euros' instincts are to rely on the blessings from above to sustain them. So naturally, when "better" folks speak, you should listen. The Left in America tends to promote this perspective, that you should rely on the almighty power of the government for your spiritual and physical nourishment. Liberal celebrities truly believe that they are endowed with special wisdom because of their status; so they opine freely.

In her remarkable life, Margaret Thatcher achieved what Hillary Rodham Clinton still wants (or at least what the pundits say she wants): She became the first female leader of her country, and she did it in such a determined way that her sex was almost an afterthought. In many respects, the two women are profoundly different. Thatcher, who died Monday at 87, was a self-described "conviction politician" and arch-conservative who channeled Milton Friedman and bonded fiercely with "Ronnie" Reagan, her great pal and partner on the world stage as the Cold War came to an end.

The U.S. has been denied direct access to the only publicly known suspect in custody in connection with the Benghazi terror attack, Fox News has learned, with U.S. interrogators still unable to sit in the same room as the Egypt-held prisoner to ask questions. Abu Ahmed, also known as Mohammed Jamal, is suspected of establishing Islamist training camps in Eastern Libya where militants who took part in the Sept. 11 Benghazi terrorist attack were able to train. Ahmed is not suspected of directly taking part in the attack which left four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, dead.

For the past five months, the Republican message on foreign policy message has been defined by a single word: Benghazi. Ever since the deadly September 11 attack on the U.S. compound in that Libyan city, Republicans have obsessed over the episode. Mitt Romney made Benghazi a favorite talking point in the 2012 campaign home stretch. More recently, Republicans have invoked Benghazi to shoot down one would-be cabinet nominee, Susan Rice, and delay two others, Chuck Hagel and John Brennan. They have dragged a parade of administration officials, including Hillary Clinton

TIMBUKTU, Mali - One of the last things the bearded fighters did before leaving this city was to drive to the market where traders lay their carpets out in the sand. The al-Qaida extremists bypassed the brightly-colored, high-end synthetic floor coverings and stopped their pickup truck in front of a man selling more modest mats woven from desert grass, priced at $1.40 apiece. There they bought two bales of 25 mats each, and asked him to bundle them on top of the car, along with a stack of sticks.

A Planned Parenthood spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday that the agency plans to close two more of its 21 Iowa clinics. (snip)Jenifer Bowen, executive director of Iowa Right to Life, said it was ironic to hear Planned Parenthood cite the health care law as a reason for cuts. “They supported it so strongly, and they’re feeling the crunch of it,” she said.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.

In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.
