Lamb to the slaughter

| In an often heated congressional hearing Wednesday, lawmakers and witnesses alike pointed to State Department official Charlene Lamb as the person most directly responsible for rejecting multiple requests for increased security at the U.S. diplomatic missions in Libya prior to the Sept. 11 attack. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) excoriated the State Department for rejecting requests from the U.S. Embassy in Libya for an extension of temporary security forces that were withdrawn in the months prior to the attack that killed Amb. Chris Stevens and three other Americans.
|
Comments: Issa released the unclassified cables in which the requests were transmitted. "Requests", not "recommendations".

The article goes on to document the testimony given for Eric Nordstrom, Lt. Col. Andy Wood, and Charlene Lamb that was given in the hearing on Wednesday. Lamb did not come off well at all. A Dilbert character confined to her own mental cubicle.

The problem for the regime now is finding a bus large enough to throw all the people they need to throw under. Charlene Lamb was following orders from someone whose name starts with H. (Hillary or Huma - take your pick).

No one was feeding this honey her lines on Wednesday. She was all but licking her lips as she recounted how she was on the phone for the real time play-by-play as the murderous attack occurred on the consulate in Benghazi. Reveling in it.
Her narrative was finally called to a halt when it was clear that she might be giving out some classified information.
She reports to someone (Boswell?) who reports up the chain to Hillary.
Lamb is basically the human resources department for our embassies and consulates world wide. 200some facilities. She is scary!

You want bureaucracy? Come'n get it!
Here is Charlene R. Lamb's official bio (Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Programs):

She reports to Eric Boswell, head of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security:

Boswell reports to Patrick Kennedy, who appears to have a pretty outsized bailiwick:

Some observations:
Ms. Lamb does appear to be the designated fall 'girl' for this screw-up. I'm sure the higher-ups are hoping that placing her on the sacrificial altar will cool this thing before election day and/or save their skins.
But much more importantly, what the hell are her qualifications to make final life or death solutions regarding security?! Is she a former SPECOPS warrior...or (more likely) just another State Department political hack?!
"Mrs. Lamb said she and other officials had wanted to train a local Libyan force to protect the consulate. 'I made the best decisions I could with the information I had,' she told the hearing."
No, lady, you screwed up BIG TIME with your "best decisions" and four of our fellow Americans died because of your ineptitude. And three of them were real warriors, the fourth a darned good Ambassador. And you wanted "to train a local Libyan force to protect the consulate"?!!!
What in God's name are you clowns doing with this social experimentation which is killing our guys.
Get the hell out of the way and let experienced pros handle security. Those who are more interested in security and the preservation of lives than in politics and PC bs.

Gay marriage is an issue of equality that fulfills America’s founding principles, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said during Wednesday’s press briefing. Earnest was responding to a reporter who asked whether President Obama feels his stance on gay marriage has “cleared the way” for others to support it publicly, noting Sen. Portman’s decision to support gay marriage earlier this month after his son announced he was gay.

Ruth C. Amen, a longtime office manager of Gulf to Bay Realty, a Boca Grande business, is now facing embezzlement charges after a surprise birthday party for her boss backfired into a paper trail of fraudulent transactions, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff´s Office. The 46-year-old Boca Grande woman was reportedly solely responsible for handling the company´s finances such as billing and payroll. It was Amen´s decision to pay for a surprise birthday bash for one of her bosses -- without permission -- that brought the fraudulent transactions to light.

n a story produced jointly with NPR, ProPublica.org, that new tax-exempt investigative-journalism outfit, puts forward what sounds like a smart proposal for improving the efficiency of the federal government: Imagine filing your income taxes in five minutes--and for free. You´d open up a pre-filled return, see what the government thinks you owe, make any needed changes and be done. The miserable annual IRS shuffle, gone. (Snip)So why hasn´t it become a reality? For two reasons, as it turns out. There is a plausible public-spirited argument against it and a venal interest group working to thwart it.

To put it plainly, the press briefing intending to indicate how President Barack Obama thinks about Israel on the eve of his trip here was a combination of fantasy and insult. It is likely that the Obama administration made such statements for show — to persuade the Arabic-speaking world that the United States is striving for peace, is not acting like a puppet (or should one say “ally”?) of Israel, and is using its influence to change Israeli policy even as it does nothing of the sort. As proof that Obama isn’t going to do anything,

When Benedict XVI was pope, the New York Times ran a scurrilous, distortion-infested campaign intended to link the former Joseph Ratzinger with the awful abuse scandals that have so harmed the Catholic Church. These pieces were manifestly dishonest and substance-free when you read them through. But the Times editors know most people don’t read the articles — they read the headlines and the first paragraph. So this morning, the pseudo-journalists at the Times began their campaign of lies against the new pope, Francis, under the damning (and damnable) headline: “Starting a Papacy, Amid Echoes of a ‘Dirty War’”:

The key prosecution witness in the second-degree murder trial of George Zimmerman has allegedly been caught in a significant lie: Trayvon Martin’s girlfriend, the state’s most important witness in the George Zimmerman murder case, was caught in a lie, it was revealed Tuesday. KABUL—America´s fraught ties with Afghanistan suffered a jarring blow Sunday, when Afghan President Hamid Karzai said during a visit by the new U.S. defense secretary that the Taliban was killing Afghan civilians "in service to America." The remarks, in a televised speech hours before Mr. Karzai´s meeting with U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, capped a series of confrontations between the Afghan president and the U.S. over his demands to assert Afghan sovereignty and curtail American military operations. Mr. Karzai met Mr. Hagel a day after suspected Taliban suicide bombers killed at least 18 people

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that
