Still smiling, Joe? Romney extends poll

Joe Biden has been left with little to smile about after the latest Rasmussen tracking poll found that Mitt Romney has overtaken President Barack Obama. The poll, released today but conducted before Biden's hectoring, smirking debate clash with Paul Ryan, is the latest indication that Romney's gains after his strong debate performance mark a shift in the U.S. presidential race rather than merely a temporary bounce. On Thursday, Obama had led Romney by one point in the Rasmussen survey. Biden's performance has done little to dent Romney's advance in the latest Gallup daily national tracking poll, which has the GOP

To me, the two groups that most closely represent the Demon-RAT philopy on life are the New Black Panthers and unions.

They both get what they want through intimidation. No logic, or reason, or facts that might truly win people over. They just intimidate people who don't agree with them to shut up through violence and bullying.

Also read Kim Strassel's WSJ piece -- she certainly pulls no punches in her derogation of Biden.

Very good. This will put even more pressure on Obama and I don't think he works well under pressure. He isn't really fast on his feet, never had to be, and he will be trying to defend his record without stating his plans for the next 4 years. If Obama was counting on Biden to stem the bleeding it didn't work.

The only thing they potentially had going for them was Biden's "performance". Once you look at the transcripts you see he's speaking gibberish. So they needed to hit hard in the debate so people would have a take-away impression that they would stick to.

Well, he left a take-away impression alright. No matter how they try to spin it, he was a jerk. And that's what people -- especially women -- are taking away. Congrats Uncle Creepy.

An artist from Wales has become the latest face of the ‘NHS refugees’ forced to flee to England to get decent healthcare. Mariana Robinson, 60, has a life-threatening pancreatic condition and needs a biopsy before it can be diagnosed and the correct treatment given. [Snip] The Mail revealed two weeks ago that longer waiting times and poorer access to drugs mean thousands of Welsh patients are now flocking across the border to be treated in English hospitals. The number of Welsh cancer patients doing so has quadrupled from just 3,471 a decade ago to 15,450 last year.

Nigel Farage was tonight accused of being ´dangerous´ after admitting he ´admires´ Russian President Vladimir Putin and defending Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. Two snap polls showed the Ukip leader easily triumphed in the second live TV debate with Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, in which he urged voters to join a ´People´s Army´ to topple the political establishment in Brussels. But Mr Farage was forced on to the defensive after claiming Assad did not use chemical weapons against the Syrian people. Mr Clegg condemned Mr Farage as ´dangerous´ and accused him of ´conning´ the British people.

Spam is back in vogue say New York restaurateurs, who are serving the wartime staple atop of sushi, salads and even straight up out of the tin as a side. John Daley, the head chef and co-owner of New York Sushi Ko, told the Gothamist that he likes to use the tinned meat mix - which retails for around $2.50 per 12oz - when rustling up his fancy $150 tasting menu. One diner who tried his ´Spam fried rice´ creation topped with seared tuna and pineapple, described it as ´so good´, ´savory´ and a ´little bit [like] oxtail´.

Police are investigating whether the man, who was allegedly seen running from the scene covered in blood, had injured himself in the blast because he had got his timings wrong when the clocks changed. Officers suspect the bomber planted an explosive device under a Volvo SUV in the centre of Dublin and that it had either gone off too early, or he had returned to the car to investigate why it

In the nightmare world of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, three vast totalitarian states were permanently at war. Big Brother needed outside enemies to rally the masses behind his rule. As ever, real life suggests that Orwell was on to something: authoritarian states do seem more likely to go to war; democracies, by contrast, very rarely fight one another. The country which might have modelled itself on Orwell’s vision, North Korea, duly tells its people that they are permanently on the brink of war. Whenever the tension with South Korea eases, North Korea always turns the temperature back up again. Only

With Chris Christie in deep trouble, Republican poobahs are reportedly looking to Jeb Bush to save their party in 2016. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
