| ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio - Friends of coal are certain they know the enemy. They fault President Barack Obama and his Environmental Protection Agency for new clean air rules they deride as a devastating blow to a multibillion-dollar industry, the lifeblood of Appalachia for generations. The agency standards imposed earlier this year tightened limits on existing coal powered-plant emissions. Guidelines on restricting greenhouse gases could affect new plants as early as 2013. Obama's moves on clean air and fossil fuels have complicated the lives of Democrats in coal-rich states that count on mining for jobs and economic growth.

From the beginning, 0bama proclaimed that he would bankrupt coal companies with his regulations. His ignorance and arrogance alienated the coal company states; why would 0bama now be surprised. Both 0bama and Michelle think they "know better," and we are all to bow down and thank them for their insight.

Further, the EPA's new regulations are political and ideological, and not based on fact or cost/benefit as required by law.

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in September when he travels to Russia for the G20 summit, the White House said on Monday. The United States is pressing Russia to use its influence to help reduce tensions with North Korea. Washington and Moscow are also at odds over the civil war in Syria. The announcement of the September meeting came after Obama´s national security adviser Tom Donilon held discussions with Putin and other leaders during a trip to Russia.

So who is President Obama going to blame for our deficits now? Last September, in an interview with “60 Minutes,” Obama laid the blame for the federal budget deficit on the policies he inherited from President George W. Bush. “Over the last four years, the deficit has gone up, but 90 percent of that is as a consequence of two wars that weren’t paid for, as a consequence of tax cuts that weren’t paid for, a prescription drug plan that was not paid for, and then the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression,” Obama declared.

LOS ANGELES — Comedian Jonathan Winters, whose breakneck improvisations inspired Robin Williams, Jim Carrey and many others, has died at age 87. Longtime family friend Joe Petro III says Winters died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes. Winters was a master of improvisational comedy, with a grab bag of eccentric personalities and facial expressions. Characters such as the dirty old lady Maude Frickert were based on people Winters knew growing up in Ohio. NEWARK — A young Newark man who allegedly robbed former Newark Mayor Sharpe James of a gold chain Thursday was arrested and charged early this morning, police said. Alhafeez Williams, 20, was arrested and charged with robbery at about 2 a.m. by Newark police, after he had been apprehended at a PATH station in New York, Newark police said.(snip) James was Newark´s mayor from 1986 to 2006. He also held a state senate seat from 1999 to 2008. In April 2008, he was convicted of five counts of fraud by a federal jury and was sentenced to 27 months in prison.

PHOENIX — Authorities say law officers in Arizona have intercepted an explosive device that was earmarked for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. The Maricopa County Sheriff´s Office said late Thursday night that the device was contained in a package addressed to the sheriff at his downtown Phoenix office. The sheriff´s office says Flagstaff, Ariz., police reported that the package appeared suspicious so it was x-rayed and the device detected. A bomb squad team neutralized the explosive. An April 11 picture from North Korea (DPRK) shows female soldiers patrolling along the Yalu River in 4-inch platform heels. Given that DRPK leader Kim Jong-un has South Korea, Japan, and the U.S. on high alert amid hints of a ballistic missile test and threats of nuclear war, this is a strange sight. Usually the bizarre images coming out of the Hermit Kingdom come from propaganda videos, but sometimes we get shots like this and the one showing Kim´s logitech mouse.

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.
