Just posted a nice piece from Peter Foster of the Telegraph:
"Obama’s election strategy has collapsed, says Romney camp as their man begins to believe"
It is a freezing cold autumn night in Ohio, but as an expectant crowd gathers under one of the Buckeye state's famous big skies it is suddenly evident that Mitt Romney's new-found bounce isn't confined to the opinion polls.
I like the image conjured by Foster and suddenly realized how much better I've been sleeping lately!
I think Paul's best strategy would be to simply refute everything Biden says by reminding viewers that it's untrue. The fact that Obama/Biden are lying about just about everything seems to have taken hold amongst the voting public.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7
The problem with Obama's response of saying "He didn't challenge Romney's lies" to his debate failure is that if it can be shown that Romney wasn't lying then by default, Obama was.
He should have said we have a difference of opinion on the best way to approach the problems the country faces. By not doing that Obama put himself in a logical box. If Romney and Ryan are shown to have been telling the truth(They have been despite what the hard left says)then the only response is to adopt their opponents position - or endorse them and drop out of the race.
I'm on pins and needles so I am not going to watch it live. I think all the pressure is on Biden to putt Obama's sorry butt out of the fire. I don't think Ryan could lose it tonight, but I do think Biden could end Obama's presidency tonight. At least I am hopeful of that!
I've got my popcorn and my vodka drink. Ready ready!
First question for Biden was Stevens murder? Amazing! So he gives the pap about "bringing to justice" and tries to attack Romney's statement. Ryan's answer is pure 100% truth. Trying blame the video and now us! Excellent!
Same silly Biden smirk, same "my friend..." garbage. Moderator even tries to derail Ryan by bringing up the misdeeds of soldiers last year when the topic is about what happened last month. Ryan had an excellent opening to bring up Obama's partying in Vegas and schmoozing with Letterman instead of addressing the crisis, but it's good that he stayed on message.
Yes #68 he is trying a whole bunch of things at once, those included. Biden is also grasping for an opportunity to ape Romney in debate #1 saying "I don't know what you're talking about" - because that worked so well. Only problem is when Biden says that it's true!
And OMG the little girl "moderator" just showed her true colors - she just started debating Ryan! I call foul!
I can't believe Radditz is allowing Biden to interrupt Ryan. It is rude and disrespectful. Biden's laughing and smirking is juvenile and undignified. He's such a jerk!!! Ryan is cool and unruffled and he has the facts. I don't know if I can take the whole debate. Biden just sickens me. I'm having difficulty getting this posted. The site is very very slow and IE can't display the page. It's frustrating.
About Biden's goofy expression. I think that is a left over from when our girl Sarah did a ''Bobbit'' on him in his last debate with her.
This was painful to my ears as wearing ear plugs. Radditz kept interrupting Ryan 20-30 seconds into an answer to explain more. She had no control, only the BIAS we know is ABC. This debate sucked.
Biden did nothing but outright LIE, and Ryan could have taken him every time to the mat if only he was a frequent poster here and knew daily events. It would have been a real smackdown if Ryan could have thrown Biden off, with explaining GM got stimulus money to bail out the UNION, not the company. Romney was right to say it should have gone under and let the bankruptcy courts bring it back...or not.
After the first few comments here when I refreshed I could not get back in for the rest of the debate. I could not even get into the main page so I could read stories. After a half dozen refreshes it was nothing but total lockout.
Maybe these wrt for debates should be on another URL so as not to block the main site.
Seeing only 88 comments just now as I finally got in tells, sorry about it, this was a failure.
But let's be honest on the other side. So many people wanted to be here that the site just crashed. Ah well, maybe next time.
Biden's smile (often at inappropriate times) reminds me of Alice in Wonderland:
Alice: My Daddy told me to beware of those who smile a lot. Cheshire Cat: Why? Alice: Because they are either very jolly all the time, which is unlikely, or have something to hide. Cheshire Cat: But I’m not smiling. Alice: What’s that on your face then? Cheshire Cat: It’s a grin. Alice: I don’t know if it’s better or worse, because a grin is a sort of giant smile. Cheshire Cat: Smile or grin, maybe there’s another possible reason for it. Alice: What’s that? Cheshire Cat: Maybe it’s because I’m mad?
WE THE PEOPLE don't like jerks and Biden's picture is in two places in the dictionary next to the word jerk and next to the word idiot. Also, the people knew Biden was an idiot and now they know he is a jerk!
Ryan presented the facts with clarity, wisdom and respect for both the rude and typically obnoxious Biden AND the yappy moderator. Martha, the obviously biased, 'molderator,' also repeatedly interrupted Ryan making it 2-to-one against Paul Ryan. I prefer the self disciplined, knowledgable & therefore merited Paul Ryan as VP than the current smart aleck, rude and shifty guy at that table!
The recent theft of massive amounts of highly sensitive U.S. military equipment from Libya is far worse than previously thought, Fox News has learned, with raiders swiping hundreds of weapons that are now in the hands of militia groups aligned with terror organizations and the Muslim Brotherhood. The equipment, as Fox News previously reported, was used for training in Libya by U.S. Special Forces. The training team, which was funded by the Pentagon, has since been pulled, partly in response to the overnight raids last August. According to State Department and military sources, dozens of highly armored vehicles called GMV´s, provided
Details buried in the United Nations report on the Syrian chemical weapons attack point directly at elite military formations loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, some of the strongest findings to date that suggest the government gassed its own people. A weapons inspector collecting samples near Damascus. The inspectors, instructed to investigate the attack but not to assign blame, nonetheless listed the precise compass directions of flight for two rocket strikes that appeared to lead back toward the government’s elite redoubt in Damascus, Mount Qasioun, which overlooks and protects neighborhoods and Mr. Assad’s presidential palace and where his Republican Guard and the army’s
UNITED NATIONS – U.N. inspectors said Monday there was "clear and convincing evidence" that chemical weapons were used on a relatively large scale in an attack last month in Syria that killed hundreds of people. They said positive blood and urine specimens provided definitive evidence of exposure to the nerve agent sarin by a large proportion of the survivors assessed by investigators. These results were corroborated by clinical assessments, which documented symptoms and signs consistent with nerve agent exposure. The inspectors in a report said "the environmental, chemical and medical samples we have collected provide clear and convincing evidence that surface-to-surface rockets
(Article leads with chart) A Gallup poll conducted last month provides a powerful tribute to the wonders of Fox News. Gallup posed a wide-open question to more than 2,000 adults across the country: “Thinking about various sources of news available today, what would you say is your main source of news about current events in the U.S. and around the world?”The winner was “television” as a basket category, at 26 percent. The “Internet” took second place with 18 percent. And then came Fox News, at 8 percent.
“If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything.” -Mark Twain - It’s become clear to us that Ambassador Stevens was someone who cared deeply about his work to promote American diplomacy in Libya. He was one of four heroes who perished on September 11th, 2012 in the Benghazi attack.Stevens’ diary has never been made public, until now. It was first discovered and reported on, in brief, by CNN, but the news network soon caved in to outside pressure, most likely from President Obama’s staff, and ceased reporting on it all together.
Reacting to the news that the administration’s National Security Agency has been collecting the phone records of every American customer of at least one telephone service provider, the New York Times minced no words in a scathing editorial criticizing the practice and the lack of forthrightness from the White House. “The administration has now lost all credibility,” the Times editorial read. “Mr. Obama is proving the truism that the executive will use any power it is given and very likely abuse it.”
Credible sources indicate that the president of the United States watched in real time what might well be called the Benghazi snuff film.Among those sources is retired Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer. At the time of the assault, Shaffer relates, two U.S. drones were hovering to the consulate and recorded the final hours of the attack, which killed U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other brave Americans (From LCom Archive originally published November ´12)
The murderer is the new celebrity. He emerges out of nowhere with a rags to mass murder story, and is swiftly accorded all the trappings of fame. Reporters track down anyone who knew him to learn about his childhood and his main influences. Relatives and friends both contribute fuzzy anecdotes, mostly indistinguishable from the ones they would present if he were competing on American Idol or running for president.
He is known only as "Baby Boy B," a fetus estimated to be 28 weeks old, found frozen in an altered one-gallon plastic water jug in Dr. Kermit Gosnell´s West Philadelphia abortion clinic. His passing went unnoticed and undocumented, but on Monday, prosecution and defense lawyers struggled to get Philadelphia´s chief medical examiner to say whether he was stillborn or killed by Gosnell after being born alive during an abortion.
I’ve been writing about media coverage of abortion for many years. And so have many others. If you haven’t read David Shaw’s “Abortion Bias Seeps Into The News,” published in the Los Angeles Times back in 1990, you should. That report also explains why we cover the topic here at GetReligion. But the thing is that I’m getting kind of sick of pointing out egregious bias only to see things not just remain bad but get worse. Just think, in the last year, we saw the media drop any pretense of objectivity and bully the Susan G. Komen Foundation
There is a fine and often unspoken line of trust between journalists and their sources, which often takes months, if not years, to establish. Break that line with one source and you’ll face an uphill battle the next time you want to establish confidential rapport with another. But what happens when the trade off is jail time? It’s a dilemma Fox News reporter Jana Winter is facing right now, provided she refuses to reveal her sources.
Obamacare is imploding. But thanks to the government shutdown, everyone is talking about the implosion of the GOP instead. The shutdown drama has distracted from the fact that Obamacare’s debut is worse than many realize — and it threatens the fundamental viability of the law itself. The administration claims the Obamacare online exchanges crashed because the Web site got more than 8 million hits in the first week. Please. You know how many people visit Amazon.com every week? More than 70 million. The difference is: 1.) Amazon seldom crashes, and 2.) on Amazon, people actually buy something.
Every week during halftime of Sunday Night Football, Bob Costas gets to recite a personal essay about whatever hot topic strikes his fancy. This Sunday he chose the Redskins name, and spent a few minutes offering his commentary on the subject. Here is his statement in full. With Washington playing Dallas here tonight, it seems like an appropriate time to acknowledge the ongoing controversy about the name, “Redskins.” Let’s start here: there’s no reason to believe that owner Daniel Snyder, or any official or player from his team, harbors animus towards Native Americans, or chooses to disrespect them. This is
When I have described the well-considered, coherent political and economic strategies of the conservative white South, as I have done here, here and here, I am sometimes been accused of being a “conspiracy theorist.” But one need not believe that white-hooded Dragons and Wizards are secretly coordinating the actions of Southern conservative politicians from a bunker underneath Stone Mountain in Georgia to believe that a number of contemporary policies — from race-to-the-bottom economic policies to voter disfranchisement and attempts to decentralize or privatize federal social insurance entitlements — serve the interests of those who promote them, who tend to be
Ted Cruz’s “aw shucks” act is wearing thin. The Republican senator from Texas likes to pretend he is above the fray of Washington bickering, focused on large issues and too big to engage character assassination. But the reality is that Cruz is the Republican king of nasty attacks. He explodes rhetorical nuclear bombs on his opponents, only to feign outrage when his victims respond in kind, or in many cases, with relative spitballs. Take his defund Obamacare effort. The tactic to eliminate President Obama’s health care law had zero prospect of success, which Cruz undoubtedly knew despite what he sold the conservative
The American Indian leader spearheading the campaign to change the name of the Washington Redskins is not a legitimate member of the tribe he leads, according to a New York State Assemblywoman, but rather an Obama crony who is raking in casino money and paying back only small stipends to his tribe members. Oneida Nation Representative Ray Halbritter, who is also the CEO of Oneida Nation Enterprises, is not recognized in his position by the Grand Council of Chiefs governing the Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy. Halbritter is not a legitimate member of the Oneida tribe, Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney told The Daily
As the government shutdown enters a third week, a group of veterans and tea party groups protested their anger by storming the World War II memorial in Washington, DC. The protest Sunday started at the World War II memorial before moving to the National Mall and eventually winding up outside the White House. ´Tear down these walls,´ the crowd chanted. Protesters also sang ´God bless America´ and other patriotic songs as they entered the memorial plaza. The memorial has become a political symbol in the bitter fight between Democrats and Republicans over who is at fault since the shutdown began. Earlier rallies have
“I sit here all day trying to persuade people to do the things they ought to have sense enough to do without my persuading them,” Harry Truman once lamented. “That’s all the powers of the President amount to.” As usual, the plain-speaking Truman got it right: presidential power is the power to persuade. Too bad the current occupant of the White House has never learned this basic lesson. Barack Obama’s refusal to negotiate with the Republicans in Congress on the government shutdown is proof once again that he doesn’t understand
The prince of the pulpit may have a revolution on his hands. Four upstart clergymen have invited more than 100 churches to knock Rev. Al Sharpton off his Harlem political throne. Speak Out Say It Loud, headquartered at Mount Neboh Baptist Church on Adam Clayton Powell Blvd., is a new coalition of black ministers determined to create a unified African-American power base with citywide clout. Mount Neboh pastor Johnnie Green, 51, said Sharpton has neglected black New York while pursuing national fame and acclaim. “While (Sharpton) is jet-setting around the country, people are going to our churches saying they don’t have money to eat,”
As Cory Booker looks set to win the junior Senate seat in New Jersey Wednesday, his supposed neighbors in Newark say Mayor Booker doesn’t live in the Gateway City. Multiple residents of Newark told The Daily Caller that the longtime mayor doesn’t live at any of the addresses he has claimed as home. The mayor is believed to live in New York even though he is registered to run for New Jersey’s special senate election. Booker, who filed to run for the U.S. Senate from a B.O. Box in Newark, is registered to vote at 435 Hawthorne Avenue but his
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called on House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) to work with House Speaker John Boehner to pass a grand bargain deal that would end the government shutdown, raise the debt ceiling, and protect Obamacare by not delaying or defunding it. On ABC News’ This Week, Graham said Ryan should team with Boehner to pass some kind of deal “that doesn’t delay or defund [Obamacare] but would be good government.”
The Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system allows recipients of government food stamps to purchase goods using a digital card with a set spending limit, but for a few hours over the weekend, that limit disappeared for many users visiting Walmart stores in Louisiana. Walmart and local police in Springhill and Mansfield confirmed to CBS affiliate KSLA that officers were called into the stores to help maintain order Saturday as shoppers swept through the aisles at two stores and bought as much as they could carry. Xerox, which hosts some of the infrastructure used by the EBT card system, told
Last month, as the President, HHS Commissar Kathleen Sebelius, and their media toadies hyped the imminent launch of Obamacare’s dysfunctional insurance exchanges, few bothered to observe the 56th anniversary of “E-Day.” Don’t remember E-Day? This, believe it or not, was how the delusional leadership of Ford Motor Co. referred to the September 1957 rollout of another great American flop — the Edsel. That misbegotten vehicle, whose goofy name has long since become synonymous with “spectacular failure,” had much in common with Obamacare. Both were based on bad ideas, full of much-ballyhooed features that didn’t work, and were despised by the
