During the 2008 Vice Presidential debate, Joe Biden clearly stated neither he nor Obama believed in gay marriage. “Let’s try to avoid nuance Senator,” began debate moderator Gwen Ifell to Joe Biden during the debate. “Do you support gay marriage?” “No.” Biden replied. “Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage. We do not support that.” Biden insisted that the definition of marriage should be “left to the faiths and the people that practice their faiths.”
Comments: He was against it before he was for it. My how things change. IIRC Biden is the one he "outed" 0bama on his stance on gay marriage. This is the entire article.
New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner has presumably always wanted to leave his mark on the pages of history. Now he finally will: A new poll out this morning has Anthony Weiner setting an all-time Siena College Poll record with 80 percent of voters viewing him unfavorably, including three-quarters of Democrats and New York City voters. Only 11 percent "still have a favorable view of America´s most infamous tweeter," Siena pollster Steve Greenberg said. Two-thirds of voters say the attention from the races involving Weiner and former hooker-loving Gov. Eliot Spitzer is embarrassing to New York.
Anthony Weiner may be gearing up for the big screen. Even if he doesn’t make it to Gracie Mansion, the mayor wannabe could star in a documentary film about his headline-grabbing campaign. The Post spied MTV filmmaker Josh Kriegman — who is also Weiner’s former congressional district director — filming his every last word on the campaign trail recently. He’s often seen riding with Weiner, and a black mike box has been in Weiner’s back pants pocket for at least two weeks. Camp Weiner would only say the recording is not for a television commercial —
Author John Grisham used the power of the pen to take on Guantánamo Bay after discovering his novels were banned to prisoners. In an op-ed published in the New York Times this weekend , the novelist highlighted that Gitmo prisoners could soon be transferred back to their home countries - an option Grisham believes won´t be an easy transition. He focused on the story of an Algerian prisoner, Nabil Hadjarab, who requested several of Grisham´s books to read while in detention. Hadjarab never received them because they contained "impermissible content."
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) continues its epic struggle to understand the First Amendment. In the latest incident, the Muslim civil liberties group has asked government officials in Brevard County, Florida to deny the use of a county-owned meeting room to a group CAIR has tagged as “an anti-Muslim hate group,” reports the Orlando Sentinel. The group CAIR opposes is the local chapter of ACT! for America, an organization that stands particularly athwart the threat posed by radical Islam.ACT! for America wants to use a committee room in the tiny coastal town of Viera to host
SAN DIEGO - A loophole is allowing hundreds of immigrants across the Mexico border in to the United States. Immigrants are being taught to use "key words and phrases" to be allowed to enter and stay in the country. Just this past Monday, Border Patrol agents say about 200 people came through the Otay Crossing claiming a quote: "credible fear" of the drug cartels. So many were doing this that they had to close down the processing center and move the overflow by vans to another station. "They are being told if they come across the border,
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Sunday scolded CNN’s Candy Crowley for echoing White House talking points. Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union, Priebus told his host, “The fact that it´s on the Republican Party I just think is spin from the Democratic Party that you ought not be adopting. I don´t know why you´re adopting that spin” (video follows with transcript and commentary): CANDY CROWLEY, HOST: Nonetheless, there are divides in the Democratic Party, you´re right. There are divides in the Republican Party. As my father used to say, that´s why God made horse races.
Samantha Power, the youngest-ever U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, chose as an audience for her inaugural speech an organization of young activists who gave her a rock star welcome after she was introduced as “one of the most amazing women on earth.” “OMG,” the 42 year-old began in response to the enthusiastic applause given to her at the Fourth Estate Leadership Summit at UCLA on Saturday. “Right back at ya.” Power, a former war reporter in the Balkans and foreign policy advisor to President Obama, was sworn in early this month,
Mark Levin, the nationally syndicated radio host who served as chief of staff in the Justice Department during the Reagan Administration, argues in his new book—The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic—that state legislatures should use the authority granted them in the Constitution to call a convention to propose amendments to the Constitution. “It is the only way out,” Levin said in an interview on CNSNews.com’s Online With Terry Jeffrey. “The federal government, Congress, the Supreme Court, the president, the bureaucracy, they are not going to reform themselves, they are not going to limit their activities.
Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Monday said he opposed boycotting the Sochi Olympic Games despite new Russian anti-gay laws, instead urging nations to wave the rainbow flag during the Opening Ceremonies to show support for gay rights. “That´d be pretty embarrassing for [Russian President Vladimir] Putin,” Schumer said on MSNBC´s “Morning Joe.” “Let our athletes participate but still make a stand.” In June, Putin signed a law banning gay “propaganda” and imposing fines on those holding gay pride rallies. The law has generated an international
EXCLUSIVE: A sudden influx of illegal immigrants from Mexico requesting asylum is overwhelming immigration agents in San Diego, forcing agencies to rent hotel rooms for some undocumented families and release others to cities around the U.S. Documents obtained exclusively by Fox News show Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been paying for hotel rooms for dozens of recently arrived families to relieve overcrowding inside the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa, Calif., processing centers. Some ICE employees are working overtime and others have been asked to volunteer to work weekend shifts. “Duties include intake, placements, transports and
Reading this Detroit News story about the tale of a $1 million dollar check that ended up in a desk drawer for a month before being deposited, I tried to imagine what the city employee was thinking when they so casually and negligently dealt with Detroit’s money. I came to the conclusion that the employee wasn’t thinking — period. As the story makes clear, city employees, their managers, on up the chain to their political masters — all have embraced a dysfunctional mindset where they believe the problems of the city are so immense,
Anthony Weiner’s campaign fund-raising has virtually dried up since revelations of a sexting relapse rocked his bid for mayor. Weiner (inset) received an average of just $1,897 a day in donations since the new sexting scandal erupted July 23, campaign finance records released Friday show. That’s a trickle of the $16,434 he received each day, on average, in the 50 days after launching his run for mayor on May 22. The records also show that Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, collected no money on his behalf
While media mogul Oprah Winfrey has been promoting her new film, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” she revealed she was a recent victim of profiling while shopping in a store in Zurich.(Snip)“I was in Zurich the other day at a store, whose name I will not mention,” Winfrey said on “Entertainment Tonight,” “and I didn’t have my eyelashes on, but I was in full Oprah Winfrey gear…but obviously, ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ is not shown in Zurich. So this doesn’t happen to me unless somebody obviously doesn’t know that it’s me.” Winfrey went on to explain that she was in Zurich for Tina Turner’s wedding,
Appearing on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert battled not only the Democratic panelists but also conservative pundit George Will over the wisdom of shutting down the government to prevent Obamacare funding. Gohmert strongly condemned President Barack Obama’s argument at Friday’s news conference that the GOP’s “holy grail” was enying millions of people health insurance. “That’s a false narrative,” Gohmert said. “He says we’re trying to keep people from having health care. That’s just not true. That is an absolute, blatant lie. We’re not trying to keep anybody from getting health care.
During his Wednesday appearance on Jay Leno´s "Tonight Show,´ President Obama made three factual gaffes; one of them involved the claim that cities not found along the Gulf of Mexico are. Were Obama a Republican, these gaffes would have led news coverage for the next forty-eight hours. Not only did most of the media ignore or downplay these gaffes; the Associated Press went so far as to cover one of them up. In its coverage Thursday, rather than point out the president´s geographical error, the wire service made it look as though no error was made.
Nobody tells Oprah she can´t afford a handbag. Oprah Winfrey is one of the richest entertainers in the world, thanks to her willdly successful 25-season run on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and her latest media foray with the newly revitalized Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). The entertainer earned an estimated $77 million from June 2012 to June 2013 alone, according to Forbes, but she says she still experiences racism because she is African American. Take this latest incident in Switzerland, where "The Butler" star went to attend the nuptials of good friend and singer Tina Turner last month.
The taxpayer-supported Missouri State Fair is getting a lot of negative publicity in social media Sunday following a report of a shameful stunt that occurred Saturday night in Sedalia. (Snip) Basically, a clown wearing a mask of Obama came out during the bull riding event. The crowd was asked if it wanted to see Obama “run down by a bull. Things got worse from there." Things got worse from there, which doesn’t surprise me, given the anti-Obama feeling among many fairgoers from rural Missouri, where Obama lost to Mitt Romney (at least 60-40 percent in much of outlying parts of state)
In a story that has remained largely under the mainstream media radar, Congress announced late last month that it would finally investigate the Aug. 6, 2011 helicopter crash in Afghanistan that resulted in 38 deaths, including 22 members of SEAL Team 6, made famous three months earlier when they killed Osama Bin Laden. Grieving family members insist that soldiers in the elite unit were placed in unnecessary danger by the recklessness of the Obama administration, whose actions they characterized as criminal. “We’re going to dive into this,” said Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT),
Ames, Iowa — Donald Trump delivered a blistering attack on Mitt Romney’s campaign today. “I don’t know what the hell happened with his campaign,” Trump said in a speech at The Family Leader Summit. “I just don’t get it. That was an election that couldn’t have been lost.” “Every single state that they asked me to go or do some phone calls or some television, we won in the primaries,” Trump remarked. But he also criticized what the campaign had initially wanted him to say in robocalls. “They gave me this most pathetic thing to say. I said,
During a press conference yesterday, President Obama revealed the existence of a sealed indictment in the Benghazi attacks in Libya on September 11, 2012, leaving some experts questioning whether the president broke the law. Federal law states that ´no person may disclose [a sealed] indictment´s existence,´ and that doing so may be ´punished as a contempt of court,´ a charge that carries a minimum sentence of six months prison. The announcement came as a surprise to some insiders, as the existence of a sealed indictment has not been publicly confirmed or denied by law enforcement or
During an hour-long deep dive into the growing use of food stamps in America, Fox News highlighted “the new face of food stamps.” That new face is a pina colada-sipping, lobster-loving lothario named Jason Greenslate. Greenslate, a 29-year-old La Jolla California surfer and musician who sings that he does not want a “motherfucking job” and has “fuck no” guilt about living on $200 of what he calls “free money ” — or what the government called Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Benefits — while he avoids a job to hang out on the beach, sing and chase women.
President Obama took his case for ending the sequester to hundreds of disabled veterans Saturday, saying he protected their benefits from the “reckless” cuts to the federal budget but suggesting next year might be different. “It’s hurting our military. I made it clear that your veteran’s benefits are exempt from this year’s sequester,” the president said to the applause of hundreds at the Disabled American Veterans´ convention in Orlando, Fla. “But I want to tell you going forward the best way to protect the VA care you have earned is to get rid of this sequester altogether.”
Rooms have to be found for dozens of Secret Service agents, someone has to carry a selection of presidential basketballs, and of course the family dog needs his own state-of-the-art aircraft. Arriving in the idyllic coastal retreat of Martha´s Vineyard in Massachusetts, Mr Obama left behind him in Washington DC high profile debates over the budget, government surveillance and his health care reforms. Instead, he will spend the next eight days playing golf, going to the beach, and buying books from the Bunch of Grapes bookstore.
Eydie Gorme, a popular nightclub and television singer as a solo act and as a team with her husband, Steve Lawrence, has died. She was 84. Gorme, who also had a huge solo hit in 1963 with "Blame it on the Bossa Nova," died Saturday at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas following a brief, undisclosed illness, said her publicist, Howard Bragman. Gorme was a successful band singer and nightclub entertainer when she was invited to join the cast of Steve Allen´s local New York television show in 1953. She sang solos and also did duets and comedy skits with Lawrence, a rising young singer who had joined
