Politics and the Gallup Poll
Weekly Standard, by Jay Cost

Original Article

Posted By:Judy W., 10/11/2012 9:42:41 AM

Since about the beginning of President Obama’s tenure, the Gallup poll has generally been one of the least positive polls for the Democratic party. This has prompted outrage and pressure from the left--even from presidential advisor David Axelrod. (Snip) Alan Abramowitz of Huffington Post and The Democratic Strategist noticed that Gallup has increased its share of nonwhites from 27 percent the week of the convention to 32 percent last week, a nearly 20 percent boost. In other words, Gallup seemed to have tweaked its methodology with just weeks to go until Election Day to reflect the criticism

It's not the poll. It's the results. The Dems would have them poll trees in a forest if it would get them the results they want.

So the non-white sample was raised to 32% from 27%....in a country where the non-white composition is 22%.

That will shift the implicit Gallup bias from D+1.2% yesterday to D+2.5% tomorrow. Perhaps Obama will be encouraged to slide thru his next debate prep on the basis of this manipulation surge.

Gallup has ALWAYS been garbage - they had Reagan - carter in a dead heat the day before the election and we all know how that turned out. they also had a 'surging' Mondale who lost 48 states.

there is a old computer programming term.

garbage in - garbage out

I am sure this has nothing to do with the crooked Eric Holder's lawsuit against Gallup.

America is great because of Americans, not because of government. Government sucks because they don´t listen to Americans. Example 8,435, 234: It all started as a science fair project. As a neophyte sixth-grader at Dorseyville Middle School, Suvir noticed he was getting a lot more handouts than he did in elementary school. Interested in applying computer science to promote environmental sustainability, Suvir decided he was going to figure out if there was a better way to minimize the constant flurry of paper and ink. House Republicans lay into EPA ´land grab´

The Environmental Protection Agency says a rule it proposed this week merely clarifies its existing authority over the nation´s waterways. Republicans say it´s "the biggest land grab in the history of the world," as House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers, R-Ky., called it. There is some certainty about the EPA´s rule defining the waters of the United States -- the buzz it has generated is not going away any time soon. The EPA, in conjunction with the Army Corps of Engineers, says the proposed rule would clarify which streams, rivers, wetlands and other waterways are within its regulatory jurisdiction. Crossword puzzles in a local Venezuelan newspaper are calling readers to violent protests with conspiratorial messages, the country’s information minister said today. She didn’t give any details. Rhea Suh is living the sweetest dream of every radical environmental activist toiling in the trenches of Big Green’s war against fossil fuels. Suh has received a fat salary and extremely generous benefits since 2009 as assistant secretary for policy, management and budget for the Department of the Interior. In that position, she helped shape every major Interior Department policy, including the infamous Gulf of Mexico drilling moratorium that was twice rejected by the federal courts. Before that, she was a member of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, which represents 200 major environmental groups that are devoted to halting development of

Wisconsin governor signs bill

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker on Thursday signed a measure into law that eliminates absentee voting on weekends ahead of elections but vetoed a provision that restricted weekday voting hours across the state. Wisconsin law allows voters to cast absentee ballots by mail or hand them in to their polling places before election day. Supporters have said the new law creates uniform and fair rules, while critics have said it disenfranchises voters. Walker, a Republican who is seeking re-election, vetoed a part of the bill the majority Republican legislature approved that capped voting at 45 hours per week. Voting will be allowed only

When Nate Silver found that the Republicans have a 60 percent chance of capturing the Senate in this year’s election, he rated the GOP’s chances of winning the Iowa race at 25 percent. Standing next to the liquid refreshments, Braley said: To put this in stark contrast, if you help me when this race you may have someone with your background, your

Some lawmakers objected, warning that women and girls could find biological males in their bathrooms, and employers may be exposed to civil rights investigations if they decline to hire a transgender person. Still, the measure easily passed the Democratic-led House of Delegates, 82-57. The “Fairness for All Marylanders Act of 2014” had already passed the Maryland Senate. It now goes to Democratic Gov. “What the hell is this, a joke?” Speaker of the House John Boehner said in reaction to news this week that yet another “deadline” in the Affordable Care Act had been unilaterally delayed by the Obama administration. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is yes, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that the joke is on the American taxpayer. Late Tuesday, the Department of Health and Human Services – which has taken to bragging about “enrollment” numbers that fall millions short of their original goals – announced that the March 31st deadline for open enrollment had become more of a guideline.

Summary of a Washington Post op-ed in my local paper: “Transit use remains disappointing because driving is too cheap.” They mean that in a bad way. If there’s a story about “Transit,” they don’t mean cars. Cars are just solipsistic carbon-barfing capsules that move selfish people around. Transit means communal boxes, preferably on rails. When they talk about transit options, they mean buses (ick!) and bikes (yay!) and streetcars, which are romantic and sustainable and everyone takes them in Europe. Ergo: You there with the two-car garage — pony up. Do you really have to read the article to know that’s where

Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

A startling rift appeared Tuesday on the Supreme Court as the three female Justices came out swinging like Brunnhildes — women warriors — for what they erroneously labeled an “entitlement” to employer-provided contraceptives and morning-after pills. The Justices were hearing oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a case hyped by the Democratic Party as a test for women’s rights. Justices Kagan, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor sprang on Hobby Lobby’s attorney , interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out of the Democratic Party’s “war on women” playbook. If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so.
