Deaf Diversity Chief May
Lose Her Job for
Opposing Gay Marriage

National Review, by Maggie Gallagher

Original Article

Posted By:Judy W., 10/11/2012 7:08:20 AM

Gaullaudet University has put Dr. Angela McCaskill, its chief diversity officer, on paid leave because she signed a petition to put gay marriage before the voters of Maryland: If your job is to promote diversity, signing a petition to get a referendum on overturning Maryland’s gay marriage law on the ballot is bound to be controversial. But that’s exactly what Dr. Angela McCaskill, Gallaudet University’s Chief Diversity Officer, did in July. Now the resulting furor, first reported at Planet Deafqueer, has resulted in McCaskill being put on paid administrative leave today.

Comments:
Black people in Maryland have been under a lot of pressure about this issue. Obama came out with his "change of heart" about gay marriage during the petition gathering. When the Maryland legislature passed the bill earlier this year, there was terrible arm twisting -- that is threats -- against black legislators. That is the only reason the measure passed.

It will all be OK after the Nov 2012 vote which will send the SAD chief back to his Man's Country Club (bath house) in Chicago ... 25 days to go to pull the flush handle for Obozo/Dems.. cant wait !

Of course "Progressives" "believe in" [what an intellectually-repellant word] diversity. Unless it conflicts with the RWOTL [Received Wisdom Of The Left].

And no one, but no one, on the Left will see the hypocrisy.

#5: Are you saying she didn't sign that one? Uh-oh.

#6: That's "toe."

#9: Silly her. She thought "diversity" meant "diversity." I guess she didn't look very closely at what her office actually did.

#10: There are several white diversity chiefs. Interestingly, all have "ex-" in front of their titles.

Perhaps the real issue is that the position of "diversity officer" is simply an excuse to hire more people than is absolutely necessary in federally funded institutions.

And if not the 50s, then at least the early 60s. The left accuses the right of being deeply paranoid. Meanwhile the left is convinced that every Republican sneeze is a racial putdown of America’s first black president since Bill Clinton.

Shutting down a speaker, or a professor, or a book with which you strongly disagree is nothing new. Indeed, if there’s anything really new about Brandeis’ disinvitation to Ayaan Hirsi Ali, it’s that they invited her at all, no matter how briefly. If the school’s donors took freedom seriously, they’d cancel their contributions. But the key to understanding Brandeis is that it has been this way for half a century. Banning Ayaan is indeed the fulfillment of a famous call to censorship by one of the most famous leftist philosophers of the last century: Herbert Marcuse, a Brandeis professor who

Zeituni Onyango, President Obama´s illegal alien aunt, died this week of cancer and other complications. I hope she rests in peace. America, however, should be up in arms. Auntie Zeituni is an enduring symbol of all that is wrong with this country´s immigration "policy" -- or rather, its complete lack of a coherent, enforceable system of laws and rules that puts the national interest first. She was a beneficiary of the welfare state run amok, enabled by bipartisan fecklessness. To the bitter end, she bit the hand that fed her with predictable ingratitude and metastatic entitlement.

Greenpeace and similar organisations decide to target chemicals industry. 2. They need a heartwarming poster species so they rope in bees. Bees become the new polar bear, about to die out any moment with catastrophic consequences for the world: no honey ever again; also, we all die because who will pollinate our crops? Bees are dying, Greenpeace and co decide, because of chemicals called "neonicotinoids".

When Brandeis University withdrew an honorary degree for Ayaan Hirsi Ali after a student-professor firestorm branded her an "Islamophobe," the campus in effect declared itself an outpost of Islamic law, American-style. Officially, Brandeis is now a place where critics of Islam -- "blasphemers" and "apostates," according to Islamic law -- are scorned and rejected. Not that Brandeis put it that way in its unsigned announcement about Hirsi Ali´s dis-invitation, which notes: "She is a compelling public figure and advocate for women´s rights, and we respect and appreciate her work to protect and defend the rights of women and girls throughout the

Recently, Copenhagen Zoo shot a young giraffe named Marius with a bolt gun, publicly dissected it—like a hanged criminal in eighteenth-century England—in front of children, and then fed the remains to the zoo’s lions. Marius was killed, the zoo said, because there was no space for him, his genes were already well represented in European breeding populations, and he was therefore a surplus animal. Despite offers from other zoos and even a private individual to take Marius, the Danish zoo wanted to avoid the possibility of inbreeding and thought that euthanasia was the best solution. Now, I’m a big proponent of an armed citizenry. I think an armed citizenry is one of the greatest, most effective deterrents to crime. But when I heard about this incident, my first thought was, “Whatsamatta, weren’t there any chairs in that school?” I believe this particular attack could have been curtailed without a single gun. The son of the Nevada rancher locked in an increasingly tense land dispute with the federal government, says their cowboys managed to break a blockade and retrieve around 30 head of cattle. Federal agents swooped on Tuesday after Cliven Bundy, dubbed the last remaining rancher in southern Nevada, refused to remove his herd of 900 cows from land he claims has been in his family since 1870. The heavily-armed federal agents, equipped with eight helicopters and backed-up by snipers, surrounded the Bundy ranch after the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) attained a federal court order to confiscate the family´s herd. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators.
