Government at its "finest." And so to remedy the problem of the govt's intersection cameras not being able to read the license plates, the govt proposes all citizens get new plates! This, in spite of studies showing that these cameras which try to detect red light violations, are increasing the rate of rear-end collisions in these intersections. RR was right...Government is the problem; not the solution.

The rear end collisions will stop as people realizes they can no longer run red lights
The cameras have other problems with privacy issues but as traffic control they do work and people ticketed cannot claim they were stopped because they were Black, Hispanic of Muslim.
Also the cameras do not belong to a union. They never go on strike, they never demand a pay raise and the never call in sick. In that regard you can blame the policeman unions

Part of the problem may be that Florida has so many "vanity" plate choices. I was stunned when we went to the DMV to register our car. There must be over 50 choices.

"Red light" cameras do not stop people from going thru red lights. We have traffic laws for that already.
"Red light" cameras only serve to ticket drivers who may impinge upon a YELLOW light outside of the Goobermint approved time limit........which has been reduced in most NJ cameras in order to INCREASE REVENUES.
Cuz that is all they are about. Any one interested can read multiple European studies that show the inverse correlation between cameras and accidents. Increase the cameras, increase the accidents.
