Ryan prepares to take on skilled debater Biden

| Washington - To prepare for his biggest test yet on the national stage, untested debater Paul Ryan has been hauling two thick briefing books around the country and intently studying up on Vice President Joe Biden, who has been sparring over public policy since the Wisconsin congressman was learning how to talk. Ryan, the 42-year-old Republican vice presidential nominee, has suggested his youth will be an asset in connecting with voters at the sole vice presidential debate Thursday in Kentucky against the 69-year-old former senator.

Comments: ALWAYS the presumption that Biden is the "skilled" one.

The media has already written the articles and scripted the TV spots declaring Biden the clear winner and asking how Ryan could come across so arrogantly. The actual debate is immaterial to them.

#1 makes a very telling point. If Ryan attempts to fisk even a small portion of the 360 degree rotary sprinkler of lies the shameless Biden is going to tell (as Biden did against Gov. Palin in 2008), he won't have any time left to make his own points. But I know that Ryan, ensconced for the past several days in St. Petersburg's posh Vinoy Hotel, is preparing for this, and will choose his rejoinders wisely. Biden has no shame, but thankfully he also has no brain.

Don't have a crystal ball but I don't expect much from Plugs. Next month he will be 70. When my father turned 70 we took the remote controls away from him. Hope Ryan will ask him about his plans to raise taxes a trillion or two and that the middle class has been buried for 4 years.

If a "skilled debater" means feeling at ease asserting things one just makes up on the fly, then Biden's that, and more.

This is pure spin by the WH spokesman at the AP. I've seen Biden debate before, and its nothing to be proud of. As I see it, Biden has only two possible avenues to even appear to have 'won' this debate: 1. Is a major gaffe or fold up by Ryan. This seems the most unlikely as not only is Ryan articulate and photogenic. And if he has been 'hitting the books' as they are reporting, I'm less concerned about this part. The second possibility is also the most likely: A leftist tag-team by Raddatz and Biden to give the 'appearance' of a Biden victory. This, in my opinion, is the most dangerous and likely scenario.
Remember that debates on this level are more about appearances as oppose to substance. If you debate on substance, Ryan runs rings around Biden. And the fix is already in to not let that happen again. All Obama wants is an 'appearance' of a victory, to change the momentum, and the news headlines of course.

Like the media keeps pressing O's amazing oratory skills, which could be anything but the truth, the media, likewise plugs Biden's amazing debate skills.
Really? When? Just because he has been in public office since the Paleolithic era, makes him no more or no less a good debater than a freshman Senator. But what it does point out is that the people of Delaware are certified idiots for electing him back to office for 40 years.

I think people here should know that neither AP or Yahoo will let me comment anymore on their mindless Obama cheer leading. I don't like Obama and I'm not shy about it. My posts on those two sites were very popular if you judge by the "likes". Both partisan "news" organizations refuse to respond to my inquires as to what's up. And they don't say they have banned me. They simply continue their cheer leading. It figures.

In testimony before the Senate Finance Committee Wednesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius couldn´t give specific answers to simple questions about the implementation of Obamacare. Committee chair Max Baucus -- a Democrat who helped write the bill -- told the secretary he sees a "train wreck coming." "I mean, you need data...you´ve never given me any data, you just give me concepts, frankly. And government´s not a business, but you´re going to have to have some data -- benchmarks -- to figure out what progress you are or are not making," Baucus said.

Niamey, Niger -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited the uranium-rich West African nation of Niger on Tuesday, although officials discounted that the mineral was the reason for his visit. Niger´s President Mahamadou Issoufou denied international speculation that Iran had come in search of uranium for its enrichment program, which Western powers suspect might aim to produce nuclear weapons. "We have not brought up the question of Nigerien uranium. Iran itself being a producer of minerals," Issoufou said.

Quetta, Pakistan - A major earthquake centered on a border area of southeast Iran killed at least 13 people in neighboring Pakistan, destroyed hundreds of houses and shook buildings as far away as India and Gulf Arab states on Tuesday. Communications with the area, a sparsely populated desert and mountain region, were largely cut, leading to conflicting preliminary reports of casualties in Iran. An Iranian provincial governor later said there were no deaths there. The epicenter was far from any of Iran´s nuclear facilities. Pakistani officials said at least eight people were killed and 20 injured in the town of Mashkeel

Tehran, Iran -- A major earthquake described as the strongest to hit Iran in more than half a century flattened homes and offices Tuesday on both sides of the Iran-Pakistan border, killing at least 46 people in the sparsely populated region and swaying skyscrapers and buildings as far away as New Delhi. Iran´s Red Crescent said it was facing a "complicated emergency situation" in the area with villages scattered over desolate hills and valleys. Iran´s semiofficial ISNA news agency and others described the quake, measured at least magnitude 7.7, as the strongest quake in more than 50 years.

Venezuelans faced the prospect of extended political instability after the country’s electoral council proclaimed Nicolas Maduro president-elect and opposition supporters prepared to march in the streets a second day to demand a full recount of the April 14 election. The government dispatched anti-riot forces in Caracas yesterday as Maduro, who received 50.8 percent of the vote, was declared the winner. Tear gas was used to disperse protesters who didn’t accept the government refusal to recount the vote as demanded by opposition candidate Henrique Capriles Radonski.

It is George W Bush’s particular achievement to be disliked by both sides in American politics. Democrats of course excoriate the damage done to the budget by waging two wars while cutting taxes, his conduct after Hurricane Katrina and his shoot from the hip style, not to mention that fact that he presided over the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression. His own Republican party utterly rejected him during the 2012 campaign. Tea Party types saw him as a big-spender guilty of extending federal government, while few who once stood with him were prepared to defend his military achievements.

Pope Francis on Sunday said clergy and Christians must not betray the word of God with their actions or they undermine the credibility of the Catholic Church. Francis, elected a month ago, inherited a Church struggling to restore credibility after a series of scandals, including the sexual abuse of children by priests. The pope spoke at the Papal Basilica of St. Paul´s Outside the Walls, where he celebrated Mass. He also greeted pilgrims and local Church members earlier in St. Peter´s square. "Inconsistency on the part of pastors and the faithful between what they say and what they do,

Rome -- Pope Francis told priests on Sunday to practice what they preach, saying the church´s credibility was on the line. During a Mass to formally take possession of one of the Vatican basilicas in Rome, Francis said ordinary Catholics need to "see in our actions what they hear from our lips." Francis has made himself an example of a more humble and frugal church by refusing many of the trappings of the papacy, living in the Vatican hotel rather than the Apostolic Palace and wearing a simple white cassock of the papacy rather than fancy vestments and capes

Margaret Thatcher is getting her revenge on the Nancy men who mocked her in life, and who continue to throw rocks at her in death. Her reputation as “the Iron Lady” who towered over a plastic age is secure, and she’s getting a funeral that her girlhood idol Winston Churchill got before her. Big Ben, the famous clock that towers over Parliament, chiming the quarter-hour since 1859, will fall silent during the obsequies just as it did for Sir Winston nearly five decades ago. This has put Thatcher critics in a froth of toxic bile,

In 1962, at the Carlyle Hotel in New York, a man “peeled off his clothing and began prancing around his hotel suite.” His bodyguards were cautiously amused, until the man “left the suite and began roaming through the corridor of the Carlyle.” The man in question was delusional, paranoid and suffering a “psychotic break” from the effects of an overdose of methamphetamine. He was also the president of the United States. The reason for John F. Kennedy’s bizarre behavior was that, according to an explosive new book, the president was — unbeknownst to him, at first — a meth addict.

Lots of “tough questions” are being asked about why the FBI--having interviewed the older Boston bomber, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, in 2011--failed to continue to keep tabs on him. But that is the wrong question to be asking. The much more pressing question is: why the FBI didn’t nab the bombers on Monday night? After all, they hadn’t skipped town, and one of them--Tamerlan--was sitting "on file" as someone whom the Russian government said they suspected was an Islamist terrorist. A man they repeatedly interviewed just two years ago. Why did no one check those files, within minutes of the
